but this is an extremely contreversial thing to do... yes, u have that one aspect of it... but if u look at it another way:

TA, has come up with it's own Poll. And the advantage it has, is that our community is more "cluey" (arguably), and hence more representitvive, of the general scene's followers. To discredit DJ MAg's poll like this, is very confrontational, and asking for a fight....

that, and Producers, bitching about the immaturity etc. of TA members...

things are getting really interesting here.....

System-J, u gotta bear in mind, that this was a big organised vote, in a big community, simply for the hell of it.... But when it comes to their favourite artists, ppl aren't gonna just vote for someone who's gonna compete with their favourite artists, just for the hell of it. I still think, this isn't really 100% proving it's point, because it's differnt. If a big artist, goes for a popularity push, in a similar fashion, I really doubt ppl will recieve it, the same way they did Mikey. it might even have the opposite effect. The only option big artists have, is bigger and "better" music.

I disagree. The TA poll is severely biased towards trance. It can be a decent reflection of what trance fans like, but it isn't a more representative poll by any stretch.

Just look at Hawtin screaming back up the chart. His Cocoon parties have gone down extremely well this year - his rejuvination has been huge, and he climbs straight back up the chart. I'd argue that he went up 30 something places because people who visited his residencies voted for him. Now, a tiny percentage of TA are minimal techno fans, and even less will have seen Hawtin in Ibiza this year.

This isn't asking for a fight, but it's showing that the DJ Mag is not representative. The TA poll has no gravitas, but people are booked on their DJ Mag placement. The industry uses it as a measure of success, as if the higher you are, the better you are. What we're proving, is that one community, whether it's online or regulars to a club night, can have a huge impact on the results. And that shouldn't be the case with a poll that is taken so seriously.

Next year you should make up a DJ that doesnt exist. That would prrove your point alot better. Now Mikey will just be another talentless arrogant wannabe DJ thats in the top 100

How can there have been so many posts, on so many forums, with so much other advertising in places like sigs for example, and yet some spastics have still somehow managed to miss the point? There is being fucking dense. And then there is being eFeKz, Durrrtysouth, lex400sc, etc. Nice one lads.
