The first club hit that was big outside the club scene...hmm....Inner City - Big Fun...or maybe Bambaataa - Planet Rock. Just electronic music right...because if not, then there would be some Disco club cuts that came earlier which were also big outside the club scene.

You're right. Clubtrance is a fairly common name for this type of tracks over here though, that's why I used it.

I mean clubs like Cherrymoon (B), Zillion (B), Illusion (B), It (NL) and "Ibiza" clubs, not clubs where you can hear Top40 hits.
Right in the Night is already a bit more commercial, just like Inner City. The both have vocals, but I agree both were huge hits years before The Launch. (I didn't investigate to find the first one.)
I think The Launch has a completly different Sound than Right in the Night or Big Fun, not?

Although I really like Right in the Night, super intro, (even have the remix single), there are others like this: 2Unlimited, Cappella, Twenty4Seven, 2Fabiola, Culture Beat, Hadaway, Rednex, 2Brothers On The 4th Floor, etc. All made big hits those days.

By the way I a Jam & Spoon fan. Follow Me (12 min), one of the best ever.

Other examples with the same Sound, in my view, which I could have named: (not hits outside the clubs or much later)

-DJ Supreme - Tha Wildstyle
-Klubbheads - Klubbhopping (or Discohopping)
-Robbie Tronco - Night Train
-Renegate Masters - Back Again

One thing I know for sure, they are not Trance.

DJ Jean - The Launch was played in normal disco clubs here in Sweden. And it is very commercial even though it doesn't have vocals.

That's what I meant (and wrote), The Launch was a huge hit outside the Clubscene. But I don't think it's commercial. In my opinion a huge hit doesn't mean a track becomes commercial, although it can be a commercial succes.
Same for BBE - Seven Days And One Week and The Good Men - Give It Up, not commercial but turned out to be a commercial succes.
All three were played in clubs a long time before they stormed into the Top40 charts.
I think a commerial track is a track which is writen to be liked by as many people as possible, so aims for the Top40 charts after the first release (record companies want to earn as much as possible of course and many artist too). It's maybe not the best explanation but I think most people understand what I mean.

The Launch also overhere was played in normal disco clubs, but a long time for that it just was played in the "non-disco clubs".

In Sweden probably the same happened with Antiloop - In My Mind.

Tim Xavier & Wale Taiwo - Theatre of Sound, in my honest opinion the definition of modern Techno.

Tim Xavier & Wale Taiwo - Theatre of Sound[SAMPLE]

Dustin Zahn
Hertz
Ian Lehman
Surgeon
Joel Mull
Richie Hawtin
Frank Biazzi
Adam Beyer
Marco Carola
Chris Liebing
Eric Sneo
Alex Bau
Lane Pelovsky [haha... I had to put it in...]

There are so many more to include, but these are just some of the people that I believe, did it right.

Techno of course includes sooo many different variants, German Techno, Swedish Techno, even Italian... blah blah, also Minimal, Bangin'.... ya know...

That is one thing I really love about that I live in Minneapolis, Liebing, Hawtin, Carola, Surgeon all come here..... and Dustin Zahn and Lehman live here! hehe...

Just curious!

If he spun techno, I would kill myself.

Edit: Throw up first, eat my face, then kill myself...
