-- for the TA elitists...
Pages (9): « 1 2 3 4 5 [6] 7 8 9 »
^very true... i actually took the time to read through most of the 9 pages of shit in this thread because i cared about the topic only to find 1/2 the posts were not even related to the topic... i think non-md topics are fine... in the COR. if you're posting in MD, it better be about that. mods need to take some more serious action.
sad to see what this place has come to over the past few years...
Portugal
Britain
France
Germany
USA
all colonised Africa.

I know that I dont have a lot of new info to contribute all the time, but at least I respect and am grateful to those that do. |

the only way to get the forum closer to the way it was in the past would be to shut off registrations for a few monthes.
the way it currently is, n00bs come and go... with more of them coming than going. every day there's a new flock of n00bs here with the same questions and often the same attitude, those that stick around often learn something, but the rest just leave to be replaced by even more. the so called veterans never see the fruits of their 'work'.
would be an interesting experiment to see the forum shut down registrations for a while, would definitely make for a whole new ballgame.

Well you see, respect is earned, as you know. The problem is, people respect different things for different reasons. Hell, people respect the same things for different reasons. Personally, I haven't seen Floorfiller do anything here that would warrant any respect from me. He mostly just laughs at everything, flirts with every woman here, draws pictures in MS paint, knows a lot about music I haven't the slightest interest toward, and most recently, performs his newest Rodney Dangerfield impersonation. Someone else might respect him for any or all of those things. None of them particularly impress me. I make a lot of jokes about myself and others, I know about most music that most here do not, and I...pretend...to be jennypie's bitch. Some respect me for these things, and some do not.
That's just how things work with human beings. If you cannot give without expecting something in return, you will have problems like our friend FloorFiller here. If you don't mind giving and getting nothing in return, at least once in a while, you should do just fine. Since the former will make you look a fool for wanting things you cannot have (like friend Floorfiller), the latter is probably the wisest disposition. Do what you do best and/or do what you wish, do not demand or require respect, and accept the respect that you are given; if you choose to do so and if it matters to you so much that it is given you on an internet forum by people you never have and never will know.

he's lucky i still respect him...
either way, if he hadn't said what he said in the forum above, i'd still treat him the same way i am now....
don't tell me he's the one that deserves more respect. Read the thread and tell me that i'm the one that needs to be more mature.
He's a hyporcrite... I'll be glad to see him go... but doesn't mean i'm disrespectful to him.

Jason doesnt think he's any better than anyone else, hes just looking for some contribution in return, which, as you have so kindly demonstrated, is NONEXISTANT. |

(I only got the first page)
Look man, this is the simple reason why you all should respect Floorfiller
Can anyone from Africa tell me how is the Trance scene out their?
Are their any nice DJs from Africa? (not Ferry Corsten, I mean born and living in Africa)
Are their drugs and raves in Africa?

I don't consider myself disrespectful to him at all... I just don't treat him better than anyone else... WHAT? let me guess... u want special treatment too, because u've been on this site longer than me as well??? I hope not. |

god this thread sure has grown a lot the last couple of days haha. i'll have to go through and read it all a little later...i'll be done with my finals later today so i'll have the time hehe...
and if you guys think that this thread is about "omg my name is floorfiller and no one respects me" then you got the wrong idea. i'm not saying that you have to respect me because i know more than anyone else...there are a lot of people here that know a hell of a lot more than me. you don't even have to like me it's cool. i think i have a lot to offer as far as discussion on this board, but there are lots of other people that do to. unfortunately a vast majority of those people don't talk about music anymore because of the environment here. i'm just saying there are too many people on TA these days that whine about elitists, but then expect help from them and i'm just saying to those people...you're not getting my help anymore and i hope no one else helps you either.
the point of this thread can best be summed up in this Purple guy that's been posting about all this africa stuff bla bla...obviously trying to discredit this thread. he's in here being an idiot, but then just the other day he posts a thread wanting help for tunes with ethnic instruments in it.
now isn't that more or less exactly what i said in my first post?
i have some suggestions of tunes with sitars and eastern sounding instruments, but why would i or anyone else go out of our way to help him out?
While there are people on here that will complain about elitists like you said, there are also some new people who really appreciate the "elitists" for helping to expand our horizons.
Me for instance. Before meeting a TA in my hall the only trance I had heard was Ian Van Dahl, Tiesto, and Cosmic Gate because my highschool friends worshipped typical Trance. I haven't been a member of this forum for all too long, and I really don't know that much about trance, but in the short time I have been regularly reading the forums I feel that my knowledge of Trance has grown significantly.
Although I don't have much to contribute thusfar, I'd just like to say thanks to those who are willing share their knowledge of the music they love. You know you are only helping the trance community by voicing your opinion.
As far as those who flame the more knowledgable, well, pessimists always feel the need to voice their opinion, where someone who takes what you say into consideration might stay quieter.
Again, thanks for being a contributor to a young community, I hope you continue to help where it is desired, and know that some do appreciate what you do
^that's a cool post Rod. Glad you find this place useful. I'm sure jason will be happy to read your post...

| Originally posted by Floorfiller i just thought i'd say this. we got a lot of people around here these days that don't seem to appreciate what we contribute to the boards so i don't know about the rest of you, but i'm going to stop contributing. these are the same people that rely on us to ID their unknown tracks, fill in their dj tracklists, give them new tune suggestions that are "spacey" or "vocal" or "chill"... seriously why are we wasting our time? we all spend a lot of time researching music and finding tunes that we love...we should just stop sharing that with all of these people that are always bitching... let's face it, those that actually have a genuine interest in talking about music around here are sadly in the minority. i don't remember the last time i actually got a decent answer or good suggestion on this board...i can't remember the last time i found out about a tune on TA that i hadn't already known about...and when i do it's always the same ten people coming through with great sugestions. meanwhile we are excited to share music tastes and ideas with each other just so people with little radio shows can lurk and snatch up some good tracks that we suggest for their show next week. it's just a bunch of crap. i mean we've already lost the TA battle to a bunch of people that are either promoting their average new tune or their cookie cutter radio show...and those that are just getting into the genre and think they know everything... it sucks the most for those people that actually appreciate the suggestions of the TA "elitists" and want to expand their personal taste, but unfortunately the majority is ruining it for those people... but really...lets keep our knowledge and opinions to ourselves. then where will TA be? it'll be a bunch of kids arguing about which tune on ASOT was the best that week, struggling to find new fresh music, wanting to know what that tune that dj played on that radio show was, and wishing they could get some suggestions for some "classics"... we've tried our best to keep this site full of info, but we've lost...it's not our problem anymore. |
