yes but if u ask a noob what trance is they arent going to associate it with buildups ect, they automatically think hard trance noise.

maybe posters need a catchy(cheesy) line or something then..

'bringing the music/melody back to trance'
'groovy trance yeah baby'
'our trance isn't as hard as theirs'
'we go softer!'
'your ears won't bleed with us'

heh.

Definition of trance to most teens...
Ballanation, that tricky tricky song, zombie nation, fire wire, those remixes of rap songs that are realy fast...

To lots of people i know trance is just techno, techno is house, house is dance, dance is remixed rnb and hip-hop

I hate underage clubs

When even TA's are over the trance music made today... you know you've got a problem with the genre!

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=316982

In conclusion batemanscott

- more alcohol
- more hot girls
- better branding
- 'you're ears won't bleed' Ha (I really like that Jubas!)
- BETTER TUNES!!! Great music will override all!

I know this thread is kind of off the subject now.. But ill say something i dont post much anymore.. But i see fit..

Its says something about the state of trance in melbourne when you run 2 nights of trance on the same night "obsession and Deliverence"

All the guys from both nights are pretty much good mates with each other and mates of mine.. All i ask is why the same night???

Its the last trance night at the Tude as well it would have been awersome to get a big crowd in there for one last time...

ON the other hand i would have loved to go to Obsession...

I think that says alot about where its heading..

Everyone should be workign together not against each other...

I think it has been stated on many occasions that neither party had a choice in the matter Can we stop with the "against each other" talk and get down to business. Everyone is so negative about something that is meant to be fun. If we cant pull huge crowds then lets go back to the smaller stuff and build it from there. Does it really matter how many people walk through the door? If the party is rocking and we are all enjoying eachothers company then what is dead? I havent been going out for all that long but I remember I used to always say to Sezzy and Kel how much I loved coming to the 5AM parties because the people and the music were great. I had the same feeling at Obsession but that great paty seemed to be dampened by a bit of contraversy about a set & suddenly everyone was frowning We dont need to convince the world that trance is great..there is enough of us to have a good time. When you are having a good time others want to join in. Nobody wants to play with kids that throw mud at each other (my god I sound like Nyquist) go ahead and flame me but that is my hippy/positiva rant for the day.

i only read the first half of this trhead then gave up, too many pages

anyway the reason why the house/electo house scene is thriving is cause it attracts a good looking, up for it crowd. The trance scene has the whole ugly/messy crowd stigma and it's not going to lose that any time soon.

When u look at the big trance parties OS they attract a lot of good looking women who dress up just like the house nights here.

But fuck if sensation can't even maintain trance all night, and only have 1 or 2 trance DJs then there isn't much hope to turn it around anytime soon over here.

Even look at the last Ibiza season, trance has dropped there.

It's just a cycle, and trance at the moment is on the downturn. Even the hard trance scene here in Sydney is going down. You have Sublime and that's about it for regular nights. The big raves that played hard trance have gone back to happy hardcore etc...

it's all one big cycle, you either wait it out till it rises again, or you embrace other styles.

Posted by muli on Jan-11-2006 11:52:

and in referance to the the old style trance

fuck listening back, it was seriously good.

the shit in the last year or 2 is absolute TRIPE fuck music is shit.

But how can a scene survive playing the same classic everytime, it can't. Someone needs to come up with some decent stuff.

There is some new trance on the j00f label that is very interesting and i like, but other than that i get my trance fix from psy.

Evil cow, as charlee said this was something that could not be helped. We did contact the guys behind deliverance as soon as we knew there would be a clash to see if they had any flexibility with the date but sadly they had as much room to move as we did.

Having played for deliverance, unify and 5am at altitude several times im spewing i cant be there (as a punter or a dj) to see off trance at altitude properly; but there are alot of people who are making decisions in the background that you may not know about.

I hope you are at either night this friday and hope you have a ball at whichever you go to!

Its as simple as this. like trance? cool! me too! pass it on....

Lizzie, u make an interesting point here so i thought i might explain my view on it.

Its a catch 22, if you go start a night at a smaller club in order to fill it with the expected numbers you then have to ask yourself how do we expand? Will we attract a crowd for the nights more "intimate" feel and lose that when attempting to go to a bigger venue later on, or,in moving to a bigger venue will we realise we didnt have the following to support it?

The reverse is to start off with a big venue, if you dont get the big numbers tho the venue loses interest because the bar is not making money and you are back to the option of the point above.

This is why imo it is so important to bring new people into the trance scene, show them something new, buy them a ticket for something just once so they have nothing to lose and they may find they love it (like so many ppl i have done this for over the last few years).

The scene went from nothing to pretty full on in just a couple of years pre2000, it was simply because so many new ppl were trying the parties/clubs for the first time; loving it and bringing new ppl to the next one on.

No matter where you are at whatever event or any party, a night out is what YOU make of it.
