I would have gone with the Yamaha monitors if I had had the extra cake at the time; they sounded very sweet when I listened at the store (incredibly clear in the mids and highs).

Here's a couple pics of my setup, its simple but effective for a software based setup. I still have to sound proof the room a bit, but since my loft covers this room on all sides (expect outside) its actually pretty good.

PRODUCTION
-Mac Pro
-Logic Studio
-Ableton 7
-Apogee Duet
-Oxygen 8
-KRK VXT 6's

DJ
-2 x CDJ800 MK2
-Allen&Heath Zone 62

pretty fancy custom wooden shelf. What ever works, I guess lol.

Last time i was in calgary, my dj table was 2 kitchen cubord tops, with a kictchen counter screwed on top of them. Pretty ghetto, but worked.

lol.....yeah, thats the setup I used to use with the Technics 10 years ago and I found it worked perfectly. When I got back into DJing again, and was using both Tech's and CDJ's, it was still a great setup. So I naturally thought it would work great for the production side, expecting to have several peices of hardware in use. It's kinda bare right now since I'm strictly software, although I do see a larger MIDI controller and digital mixing board as the need arises.......so I'll leave it as is....

if u are investing in a 49+ key controller, let me know if ur selling ur 25 key ozone/oxygen...i need a portable keyboard for cheap

PS. just a word to all the producers out there...you guys want to keep ur screens at eye level (as in, when seated, your eyes are physically at the level of the center of the screen)...

when you spend hours on end working on a track, or even using ur pc, you dont want to strain your neck, back or even eyes..

yea I've played around on it...but its way too light and the keys are obviously just pads...need something that actually feels like a keyboard and wont fly around while playing..heh

I probably won't be upgrading till I need too, which may be awhile since I'm just in the learning stages right now.

Yeah, that setup wasn't originally for production so I'm thinking of making a space in between the monitors to have 2 screens at eye level. I don't really have a need for that shelve to run the whole length anymore....

I made some changes....

-cut that long board to fit the monitors seperately and added a second computer moniter.
-replaced the 25key Oxygen with a Novation Remote 37SL
-added NI Komplete 5 (which is hard to see in the pic, lol)

Don't fcuk with a beerglass by putting in anything but beer. You cheated on that glass. You should be ashamed of yourself. I hereby sentence you to 6 beers in succession.

Respect the beerglass.
