FOOTY fans are crying foul after some West Coast players failed to shake hands with the kids who presented their medals after the Grand Final.

Outrage filled lounge rooms as Grand Final gatherings saw several Eagles ignore the kids, several of whom were left looking disappointed after apparently being snubbed.

Readers of Melbourne's Herald Sun and talk-back callers have slammed players, naming main offenders as Daniel Chick and David Wirrpanda. Many fans have described the disappointed expressions of the young players who were ignored.

But Auskick organisers are defending the players.

Auskick coach Darrell Marr co-ordinated the Auskick demonstrations at half-time of MCG matches, and said the kids understood if AFL players didn't notice them.

"Before the kids go out to play, we tell them not to try to talk to the AFL players the players are just too focused, they have no idea what's going on around them," Marr said.

"So it's no wonder a few of them forgot about the kids yesterday they've got a premiership medallion, and they don't think of anything else, to be quite honest."

He said coaches would be explaining to junior players they shouldn't be offended.

"You've got to say to the kid, it wasn't meant as disrespect. The player didn't realise, they were so concentrated, it's like they're in shock."

But football fans were less forgiving. Chelsea Heights reader Lucas Vogt said the players were arrogant.

"There were quite a few players who didn't even take the time to shake the hands of the kids, leaving them empty-handed and embarrassed," Mr Vogt said.

"These 'role models' should think of more than just themselves, but also of the image they are presenting to our next generation of football stars."

the last thing id wanna deal with after punishing my body for 9 months is some snotty-nosed piece of shit trying to paw at me. i play football, if you wanna watch and enjoy me playing, by all means. but if you dont wanna watch, youre free to do that too. either way, i owe you nothing.

what a day and night and day...

some pictures from the great game... good to catchup prematch for some kick to kick antics.. also seeing a david boon lookalike sitting two rows behind us was a big highlight and proved much drunken hysterics, especially considering his name was David..
