Wow what an amazing night overall......TAs are the party.....I love you all....well except maybe Carl.....he is a lttle strange
Got there just after 10:30 and the line moved pretty fast which was good. Made our way over to KH right away and MO had the place already moving....I didn't even get a drink before hitting the floor. Didn't really leave the KH as I can't stand running laps...did catch a bit of Howells and he completely lost the crowd....there was just no vibe in the Guv...although you could actually move which was nice.
Josh Gabriel really kept the vibe going in KH and it was non-stop moving for me.
Oakie tore the roof off KH imo. I haven't caught an oakie performance in so long and with the way everyone talks about his performances as of late I didn't have high expectations. He was the highlight of the night for me.....he played trance the way its suppose to be done and I don't think I could have been happier with his set.
AVB.....meh.....I've never been that big a fan but his set was good. Left around eight...wow....it was strange leaving the club and the sun up again....summer is almost here.
I'm just too tired to do shout outs but you all rawk and I wouldn't want a party to be any other way. Now it is time to rest the feet...damn bowling shoes
.....and get ready for a little IM on Saturday and then to Montreal....GAWD I'm

Tota househeads if you weren't at the GUV last night you missed out big time
Lee Burridge was his usual-entertaining self, started a bit slow but the n eventually got the crowd into a frenzy right about 12:00 - 1:00, one of the best vibes i've seen in a while
Sander K for prezident!
awesome set. his robot dance with his headphones over his eyes to Underworld - Rez/Cowgirl was the highlight of the night.
Danny Howells was good but got a bit boring and repetitive than usual, i've seen better sets from him, kinda lost the crowd several times.
overall a great house night at the Guv. DJs were having fun and the crowd was unusually cool. i loved the syncronized lyrics on the video monitors.
p.s to those complaining about the main room being packed, you gotta know where to cool spots are, find them and then you can dance and enjoy youselves.
for the little bit of time i was watching/listening to oakenfolds set, it seemed like hes not very into what he does anymore. Either that, or he was coked outta his mind.

oakie was sick armin was ok, my legs r gonna be very sore from dancing so hard, . Those risers were so dangerous in the KH the railing was falling apart, it was jokes.
BTW, Quote of last night, I'm talking to Aaron (Joseph) in the lounge of the KH.
"Some people think I am still promoting and holding events at Viva. I even get calls sometime for people asking for advanced tickets... like Fahad!" LOLOL ROFL LOLOLOL
Just got back Home. Dam traffic on the 401 took me 6-1/2 hours to get to Montreal. First of All Great Night, maybe not the Best but very Nice. I got in at 10h15 in the Koolhaus and I stayed in there all night.
Mark Oliver: His set was ok he dropped a few good tracks.
Josh Gabriel: What the hell did he start with, the first 40 minutes where not at all what I expected from Gabriel & Dresden. But the second hour Wow, hit a lot of cool tracks some classic and some new stuff.
Paul Oakenfold: Love is set, I was concern that he may want to drop some commercial stuff but No. He just played awesome uplifting Trance.
Armin Van Buuren: His New Years set @ Red-Lite + Trance Energy 2006 set + few new tracks from ASOT and couple of classics = His Set. That being said it was good and Armin is Armin.
The guy played for 5-1/4 hour. From 4h05 to 9h20 just kept putting tracks and tracks. I like is music, but it wasn't is best set Technically. I believe I can expect the same thing Sunday at BEB.
The room set-up was nice, from 1AM to 5AM it was pack. But after it cleared and there was lots of room to dance.
And if anyone wants to start the playlist of that night that would be great.
Dominik
P.S. Thanks again Shaya for the Guestlist
Man what a crazzzzzy ass party. I am new to EDM scene in general, but my first time live Armin experience was great, he knows how to work a crowd. Don't know how his sets are usually different as it was my first time catching him so I can't really provide much feedback other then that i really enjoyed it.
I have read a lot of posts on TA recently criticizing Oakie, but shit I was flying on his set too. On the contrary, I also checked out Sander K and despite all the praise I read about him, it was not for me but it could also be due to the vibe of the Guv, I was feeling KH much more. I caught Gabriel as well, i thought first hour was pretty boring, but then the second hour was the total opposite. Well i guess its an amateur review, but a review nonetheless.
This was by far Oakies night. A turning point in his career to show you that maybe all this time he was just teasing us with his previous work over the last 6-7 years since he played his untouchable World Tour sets back in '99. I did catch a couple of minor off beats while transitioning but he quickly corrected them. His set had all the energy I ever needed. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed with Armin as he messed up several times while mixing. It wasn't that the beats were off its like when he was crossfading to the next song he accidentally hit play again like the songs restarted. Threw me completely off while dancing my ass off. From what I rememeber the first hour or so was quite the downturn after such an amazing set from Oakey.. he killed the mood for a bit and then it seemed like he was getting the hang of it around 5:30... some great choons Armin played but overall he lacked consistancy and more or less seemed like a re-play of LoL.
BTW my night didn't start off to jolly so that kind of bummed me out for awhile. I was sitting beside some guy who supposedly took speed and he was sitting there shaking like crazy. I kept asking him if he was alright but he would just mumble something. I wasn't sure if he was attempting to dance to a beat in his seat in KH or if he was about to have a seizure. Unfortunately, my guess was wrong and he started foaming and seizing up. I went running over to find security and this just happened to be the first time I brought a friend to an EDM event. Want an unpleasant experience for a first timer to see but my friend was doing CPR while the guys brother was giving him mouth to mouth -- the dood's heart stopped beating but they managed to revive him before security got there.. it was pretty fucked up because they guys heart stopped way before security got there...
Anyways, I'm hoping the guy is alright... its always something hearing about people ODing and what not but seeing is definately believing.
Mark Oliver - 7.5/10
Josh Gabriel - 6/10
Oakie - 9.5/10
Armin - 7/10
Overall I'd rate this to be one of my worst Guv/Koolhaus experiences but that was just due to many accompanying factors such as the one above. Generally speaking Oakie opened my eyes once again and definately made my night

| Originally posted by chinamon so it was a fairly short meetup i guess. i was really hoping to meet some of the new ta's but i guess i'll have to wait until next time. |
I had a REALLY good time last night
Had to leave @ 7:30 to de-sketch a bit,
then lost my voice after - sucked
Got in @ almost 11, and Oliver was really playing well.
Gabriel started slowly, but def finished strong - 7.5/10
Oaky played some great tracks, but lost me on others - 7/10
Armin played a standard set imo, pretty much what i expected - 8/10
My goofy smile and expression says it all

I'd like to think he is saying "back off she's mine!!" hehe
Wow!!!
What a night guys!!! After a very shitty start (dont ask) the night made a pleasent turn around to become one of the best times I've ever had.
Stayed in KH with the mob of TAs for the majority of the night. Tried to catch some Sander, but it was too packed in Guv for my liking.
I'm so scared of all the sketchy pics of me that must be floating around.
I'll have my pics up soon hopefully. Minus the bad sketcy ones lol.
See y'all soon!

Wow, glad to hear so many ppl had a good time. Sander K was by far the surprise of the year for me and I was sure that people would love him. What's the name of that song.

I think it was the time to take a break for me. I'm still suprised that no one really was into danny howells' set. I was expecting him and burridge to be the highlights of the nite but i guess i was wrong. If I was at decedence i'd probably spend most of the nite at the main room. I'll be partying soon though...Above and beyond here i come. |
omg! wow

this was my first proper trance event, and did I have a good time?! YES!!!!
I ended up being in the KH the whole night, checked out Sydney for like 30 mins but got fed up with the most sketchy crowd ever and went back to Armin

whatever anyone says I absolutely loved Armin! after hearing so many things about how he hasn't been good the last times he played, I was so mega impressed (yeh, and Sasha, get a life and stop fixing and quoting not so nice things about Armin, we all know u don't like him)
so yeah
all the new ppl that I've introduced myself to, you are all just awesome
pics later!
