BTW I think you mean manicotti

manicotti=

The actual pasta shells are usually called "cannoli," but the name of the dish is "manicotti."

cannoli=

The words for pasta and pastry in Italian are similar, which in a way makes sense.

Both are damn good.

YES YES YES YES YES!!! I ALWAYS say cannelloni and then I find out it's the wrong one!! But yes, I like them both!

Well if anything I prefer the Manicotti...it's my fave...and then for dessert the canneloni...but Cale's telling me it's not a dessert...whatever the picture was that was posted earlier that looks like eclaires. I want that for dessert.

Why is it that everything I find on the internet about cannelloni points to it being stuffed with ground beef and shit, and nothing about it being a dessert at all?

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE

Taken from Wikipedia:

quote:
Cannelloni are tubes, especially of pasta, filled with a savory stuffing. In the United States, cannelloni is known as manicotti. In Italian, cannelloni literally means "big pipes" or "big reeds."

The tube is usually made of wheat flour, egg and water and is similar to pasta; and it is often stuffed with beef, cheese, vegetables, and garlic. It is served covered with sauce.
