My point (if i was trying to make one) is that if you want to see a big headliner in Toronto, suck it up, take a nap before you go out, and expect it to be bright and sunny when you leave. Nightclubs are the ones shelling out the $$$$ to bring these dj's in, so they tell us when the dj plays. This has become 'the norm' in the industry, and I honestly dont see it changing, ever.

So what if it's the norm? That doesn't make it right.

ANYWAY,

OFF -TOPIC!

I'm creating a Poll about this.

"Ketamine is a non-barbiturate anaesthetic approved for use in both humans and animals."

Hm, I was under the impression that ketamine use in humans was outlawed decades ago. Seems that in cases where ketamine is used, it is a very small dose, and is combined with a benzo...

I didn't insinutate that K is deadly to humans, but it is seriously detrimental to your neurological health.

But thank you for correcting that.

well in other genres of music, i think we have all forms of the working class as well.

i think that should explain my point itself

Posted by all-nite-freak on Apr-19-2006 19:52:

there are reasons headliners dont open.No matter how much you guys want this to change it wont.An owner puts the headliner on first and he will have a half empty club when the set is over and make no money.I just cant believe this thread is 10 pages long. The original post in this thread was very well written and intended to help those who can accept hearing these things. The reality is simply that wanting to quit is not enough, you have to be READY to quit.A few very wise words in this thread, but a few people are pushing their opinions around like they are the only meaningful ones.No one likes bible thumpers.

^^^i dont remember anyone mentioning that headliners should open

you want dj's earlier? You think clubs will open at 3 in the afternoon because you display more whine than an lcbo. All i ever see is you bitching. If the scene sucks so much get the fuck out of it.Nothing is perfect in life.

you are a fucking moron.
goodnight
go listen to hip hop at a roller rink at 3pm if you cant take it.

Posted by Nikitha on Apr-19-2006 20:04:

i think this thread has gotten a little off topic...
i believe that it was about drug abuse...
and drug abuse doesn't just happen at parties...
tyring to place the blame on "headliners hitting the deck too late" isn't really relevant in a thread like this..
and day time parties don't make any difference in the drug use from what i've heard
( aka Comfort Zone, Boat Parties etc)

Nikitha

PS. this isn't a cheap shot going out to the CoZo or anything... i'm just using it as an example of day time partying

ur such a fuckin idiot

lets go over that scene again:

me: they should maybe have parties ealier so the dj comes on earlier and maybe less people will do drugs to stay up.
u: i dont think a club could pay a dj with an empty venue if the dj opens
me: i dont think anyone said they should open.
u: ur a fucking moron blah blah i think only my ideas really matter cos everyone else is stupid blah blah

*sigh*

there are people who can do it.

The only thing Ive ever taken at guv has been red bull. And thats usually just taken so I can be awake for the last hours before I have to go straight into work early the next morning. But I will never be drugged up or drunk at guv.
Dont get me wrong back when I was younger I wanted to but the opportunity never came around.. and finally when it did I refused.

Some people can use the substance of music (any music), good friends, lights, and just the atmosphere as there drug to have a good time. Others cannot so why are they at that party .. just for the drugs? No right its for the music but the music sux so Im gona do drugs.. .. . why cant people just stick to what really makes them happy?

yes Ive been at parties where my friends drag me out to a hip hop bar that play only rap, pop, and all the top 40 hits. And yes Ill be buzzed from alcohol so I can enjoy my self, but thats only for once in a while situations and at max Ill have 4 drinks through out the night. But I dont stay out till 7 8 9 in the morning . why Im not having fun I rather go to bed and sleep. And the same has happened in guv parties.. ya sorry not having fun music isnt kicking it for me.. why should I stay. you cant make people happy with out being happy your self.

All in all I do believe that you can have fun at parties with minimal to no intoxication necessary

Ps Nat I liked your post

ok u'll think i'm nuts for this but Comfort Zone is badass! if you honestly go out to places for good music, then you can;'t complain about zone. true its grimey and full of drugs. but if ur not into that and ur all about music, zone is the place to be. Nathan/ Joe and Fab and Joee Cons at Zone are unbelieveable. Sometimes when guv sucks and the music isn't right at a certain club on saturday night, i look forward to the beats at CZ. its just awesome aside form the sketchiness

I'm specifically referring to the guv, not partying sober in general.
the atmosphere at the guv is what makes me NOT go, sober or not.

Absolutely agree! And this is totally on topic because, for me, I have trouble pulling all nighters without drugs and I've pretty much given up on them except for fav djs, but lately I've been hitting CoZo on Sunday mornings. I have a good nights sleep and show up at about 8a.m. No greasing the bouncer to bypass the line cuz there is no line at that point.

Now I've got loads of energy cuz I just woke up. The music can NOT be beat and I find the crowd alot better than at the Guv. Everybody is there to dance, not pick up. Anyhow, I just find this alot easier on my system cuz I'm not fighting to stay awake. It also leaves my sleep patterns intact. I'm not saying I'm always sober when I'm there, but it takes alot less to keep me going.

I love how when I go party sober and I meet some new people, they ask me if I'm on anything(which is okay), but when I say No they're like "WHY NOT?"

Everybody is there to dance? At the zone? Is that what you just said?

Oh i'm not making a jab at the Comfort Zone... i've heard the stories of the amazing music played here... but thats what the whole point.. going for the amazing music.. not as another place to do drugs..which is where the whole drug abuse comes in.. its totally fine to go to the Zone to hear some mid-day beats.. but i mean if you just spent a night at the Guv, or the docks or any of the all night bars in TO... there is no reason to go to the Comfort Zone just as an excuse to keep the 'party' going...
ppl doing things like that on a regular basis def have a drug problem..
i mean i tihnk its safe to say that everyone here loves music.. its a very important part of their lives.. but if some ppl keep up this kind drug use.. who knows.. they may not have a life to enjoy the music in

oops I posted this in the wrong thread first. It goes here LOL (stupid wine)

I wonder if anybody reading this thread is taking their alcohol consumption into consideration as well. It's just as much a drug, no?

It is, and it isn't. As I mentioned, on the issue of safety, when you drink 10 shots of jager you know exactly what is going in your body. it is more of a gamble with drugs, meaning when you consistently abuse them, your risk is much greater than when you are abusing alcohol just because every pill is different.
