130-210 Rly, depends. Of course I don't listen trance at 210, I like hardcore too. But of course this is the wrong forum for that shiat Anyway, mostly listen to 140-160 stuff now.

You get some people that basically seem to go into anaphalactic shock and just flail all over the place like a pit ninja but more spastic. Then you get the more reserved ones that stand absolutely still and put their feet together, then kind of hunch over and nod/shake (?) their head and neck really really quickly but not shuffle more than a few inches from their spot.

Then there are some that kind of jog on the spot really fast with the knees up really high. I always find that funny when someone does that.

Then you get some of the more conscienceous dancers who try to do something clever like put their foot down on every 2nd beat to try and make the music danceable, only to find it doesnt really work that well and they misstep all over when there are irregular phrases and such. Seeing it all kick off in a dingy Amsterdam blacked out room is like watching some kind of Medieval battlefield. Only the warriors are 50 or so Dutch nutcases and a couple of tourists in for the hell of it (like me ). And nobody is intentially trying to kill anyone else. Its total carnage

lol

nice description, i can quite imagine it

Is gabber not popular there anymore? I havent been to the Dam in a couple of years but there were still places where they would push the tempo up to something crazy. The Dutch are really unsubtle like that No messing about.

In the UK speedcore is very niche. The market for it in this country is just too small and I think its so fast and hard that most people just find it alienating and undanceable.

Again, sorry friend, but I don't measure my music in beats per minute. As for what I do use, I like my music to get at least 15 rods to the hogshead.

Posted by RickyM on Jun-02-2006 09:34:

obviously it depends on the genre...

Yeah, you dont notice a pitch change of 1/2% between tracks.

A few of those ever other track, and your there. there is no other way to do it.

as I seem to have the same backgroud as Irish, I still prefer my music a little faster than most others

150+ is ideal, rarely over 180 cause dancing get's a little hard

also agree with Irish that today's music in that speed-range is sadly under-represented.

I remember a mix by Carl Cox at Mayday 1994 which was around 160 bpm which was really fast for him but that mix rocks so hard I still get goosebumps from it.

Also check out Timo Maas - The final XS or Die Herdplatte and look at what he does nowadays...

as CLSM say in their track: John Peel is not enough! (and he's dead now

so what most of you guys are saying, is you have a really narrow taste in music?

Posted by Rainborn on Jun-03-2006 17:29:

The wide spread musictaste that I have depicts a country, and I've made a map so I can find my fucking way in it.
