Portugal are this WC's South Korea

This World Cup has got to be the most boring, worst, dullest tournament I've seen in my 22 years of existence. I wanna boycott.

Aye, it probably has to do with most of the big favorites playing like total crap. This was pretty much also the case four years ago..

I partly blame the Champions League. Most 'stars' seem very fatigued..

theres a difference between team oriented and glory for selfish purposes and ronaldo i beleive falls into the latter. A team player makes others around him better players and cristiano doesnt do that like say figo.

I see. I thought you meant that ronaldo wasnt team oriented because of what he did to rooney. He's always been a selfish c*nt. Thats the reason RVN and him had a bust up. Even before tonights match i thought united would of been better of selling him. Now i think its a definite that they will sell him.

Scoring a last minute free kick against greece to qualify for the 2002 world cup should do it.(or was it for the 2004 world cup?)

I'm not sure...think of the EC 2 in Portugal 2 years ago. Also not that spectacular but better than Korea/Japan. It's one thing that teams which once were at best nice sparing partners can by now play pretty well and challenge the big nations (African teams, Korea/Japan, Australia)..but it's another that the stars indeed seem not to be bothered at all. I see no passion, no fighting, no risk, no love for the beauty of the game. Football is about to become a chess game with 22 sweating guys.

Trying to be neutral here:

It was another completely shit match in a very shit cup. At least it was much more emotional than Swiss-Ukraine, altho I guess being portuguese makes it extremely hard to find the neutral point of view here.

We clearly lack a great target man striker. :\ Pauleta and Postiga were both shit. It was clearly what was missing after England went down to 10 mean and we couldn't neither enter that ultra-tight defence, or get a cross in a forward's head.

Lennon and especially Hargreaves were fantastic for England. Ricardo Carvalho did another superb game for us (clearly improving his form) and Ricardo.. well.. the first goalie ever to save 3 penalties in a world cup shootout, that alone says something. Cristiano Ronaldo did several key interceptions, and the finishing on the winning penalty is brilliant.

Refereeing: couldn't find major flaws. Rooney was well sent off (to who disagrees: you'd probably enjoy getting your balls stepped on by one of those boots), Postiga's goal was well disallowed as he was blatantly offside. Nuno Valente's alleged penalties: the first one i have some doubts on, it clearly its his hand and he does seem to make a movement with the hand towards the ball. But it's a distance of like 1 metre. As for the second claim, no way that was a penalty, clearly on the ball.

Diving: i'm not blind, we dived several times, Maniche being touched on the arm and claiming it had been on the face was particularly ridiculous, Tiago also seemed to have difficulties in remaining stand up. That being said, i also saw 3 or 4 dives by english players - they're not the saints Dj Smitty makes them out to be.

Overall, except for Rooney's aggression, England were fair, and in that aspect did gave me a much better impression than Holland. Their fans support in the stadium was superb as usual, although there was like 200x times more english than portuguese in the stadium - no chance for us to sing louder.

France or Brazil, i don't care, i don't give a flying fuck. Either of them would be really damn hard to beat, and either of them would make an extremely interesting semifinal. Brazil for the Deco and Scolari factor. France cause we still have a word to say regarding Euro 1984 and Euro 2000 - a 3rd semifinal against them would surely be fun to watch.

England had more chances but they couldn't put the ball on the net. They should have gotten rid of Eriksson a long time age. Alas, I don't think England will improve much with their new coach. The only reason I support England is because of their fans. They are the most passionate and deserve much more than this. Too bad the players don't show as much passion as the fans although much of it is attributed to Eriksson's incompetence.

I forgot stating how all my hope completely disappeared after Petit missed his penalty. Damn Ricardo, you brilliant whiney bitch.

FIFA is a fucking joke. Honestly, this tournament's officiating is completely laughable. Rooney wasn't sent off for his knock on the balls. The red only came out after that little cocksucker Ronaldo bitched and moaned to the ref and demanded a card and was shoved by Rooney. That alone should have been a yellow for that pathetic little ****** Ronaldo. And not to mention that Rooney was being fucking manhandled QUITE CLEARLY by Carvalho. Instant red card? If Figo doesn't get a suspension for headbutting, why does Rooney get sent off for pushing that girl?

Oh, and no hand ball called in the box, even though it clearly went off his forearm WHILE IN MOTION which stopped the ball from being crossed over. Last time I checked, that's a PK, but maybe not for England eh? The tackle on Lennon looked a bit suspect too.

The Porkos might as well have been handed this match on a silver platter. And even with the BS sending off, England still outplayed them on the field. How many shots did Portugal really scare Robinson with? All were from 25 yards or more. If fucking Lampard could do anything with the ball, England would have walked away with this one.

I hope France sends that bastard team home and end their moaning and whining. How can any of you be proud of this? You're nothing but cheating pricks with absolutely no class whatsoever on the field. England probably wouldn't have stood much of a chance against France after all the cards and injuries anyway, but you're in for a pretty rude wakeup Portugal. You won't be able to swan dive your way through that match because France doesnt seem to blackmarked and the calls (and lack of calls against) wont be given to you so easily.

I also agree about Rooney demanding Ronaldo be sold out of Man U. I'd never play with that prancing little fag ever again. Did you see him winking after Rooney's send off? Rooney should be on the phone to Fergie, "Either you get rid of him, or I"m putting in a transfer request." There's a reason why nobody on Man U likes that prick, as is plain to see from today's match. No class at all.

one of the best moments of the Euro 2004 cup was when ronaldo cried like a little girl when Portugal lost to greece.

i don't understand what you mean by manhandled. you're refering to Carvalho grabbing his shirt before the kick on the balls? how the fuck does that incredibly fucking minor thing has to do anything with the red card?

this is the only situation i have doubts on, in slow motion it does look like a penalty, however the distance between Valente and the original shot was very close. the tackle on Lennon was VERY CLEARLY on the ball.

OUR moaning and whining? what about this entire quote? this is nothing but a completely incoherent rant of frustration.

i won't deny that the game was extremely even when 11 against 11, and luck was on our side, but we won it FAIR this time, stop the bullshit. no home advantage, no dodgy extra-time disallowed goals, even had 2 absolutely key players out. and like i said before, i again saw dives by english players this game. i saw dives by french, brazilian, spanish, italian, ukranian, dutch, argentinian players the whole tournament. when will you stop with your pathetic crusade to make us seem like the dirtiest team in the history of mankind, the mighty unique cheaters that need to be crushed?
