Well I may not know a lot but I know that electronic music enjoyed tremendous gorwth mainly due to E and the emergence of raves which were at first pretty much big E parties, correct me if I am wrong. And it doesn't really matter what I say I get burned for everything I say. Sure its different today as the music is more mainstream, but in the late 80s and early 90s it was very underground. I think its ignorant to say that E didn't contribute greatly to the popularity and emergence of this type of music.

Also when people put LOL at the end of thier sentences it means they are laughin and not saying stuff in a serious matter, but then again as you can see I stand behind my arguement.

Like i said...un-subscribe please! and i DO stand behind that too! now, to respond to your argument...E has been around the rave scene, then and now also, but the choice of certain people doing E at raves where electronic music was played has nothing to do with the GROWTH of electronic music...it is not the reason why it became popular or more mainstream! Also, cause of the same reason, because people tend to relate the word RAVE with the consumption of drugs including E, the term RAVE is not used so much anymore to describe these electronic parties. So there...

So please tell me what really was behind the growth of electronic music. Maybe you can educate me. Because even in the Peter Jennings E report it basically says raves were pretty much driven by E and esentially the growth of rave's and the drugs popularity came to the growth of electronic music, it make sence.

It actually makes no sense that you believe that SOMEONE will like a type of music because of a drug...if that's your case, like Sasha said, i suggest you seak a doctor, and rehab And education cost money, but today you'll get a free leson...don't believe everything you hear...and why does there have to be some sort of drug or incentive for the growth of some sort of music other then just time? have all other styles of music became popular because of a drug or E? I've been listening to trance/house/prog/electronic music for almost 10 years, and its been my greatest passion ever since, and i don't believe drugs have anything to do with that since that was before i ever knew what E even looked like. The choice of someone doing E is entirly theirs and has nothing to do with our love for trance/house and music in general. Its sad and alarming that some believe otherwise...

Well as you know most mucis types are usually associated with a drug its just the way it its, like it or not. Electronic music is usually associated with E, hence many people think that if you like trance you have experience with e or call you a raver or w/e (not saying you have but thats the general publics assumption, just like people associate rap with drinkin crystal and smokin weed). Not everyone is as passionate about this music as you might be so you can't base your answer just on your own experience. Keep an open mind otherwise your being ignorant. Back in the day in the early days with the emergence of raves and electronic music people came to the raves for the experience and that was to get high on E and listen to music, and dance. It is a proven fact that electronic music sounds/feels better when you are high on E then any other music. I don't see people popping E at rap and heavy metal concerts, but I've seen people pop E at every electronic show i've been to, and I am talkin about the majority of the people, sure there is people that don't do it. I can just recall Bal En BLanc there was soo much E in that place you would not believe, and I know 1/2 people there were there just because of the size of the event and for what it stands for, not because they had some great dj's playin there, but there were there and were supporting electronic music. It might not be the case that someone will like the music because of a drug, but they might like the scene the drug is associated with and thats where the music comes into play because its part of the scene. And I am not talking about the present state of the music i am talking about its emergence, electronic music is pretty mainstream today, thats why today you have people liking this music wihtout even having to go to a rave or w/e because its avaiable everywhere, back in the day it wasn't, it is past its underground phase, 10- 15 years ago raves were a very underground thing, those days are far behind.

So yeah in your next response please provide some valid points, because I have really not heard any from you yet. And thanks for the free lessons. And Sasha's opinions don't really matter to me, hes out of my league, hes something like a god on this board

Proven fact that electronic music sounds better with E....ummm lol do you realize how ridiculous that sounds??? Reason why E is popular at raves...(definition of a rave: party that goes from night till the morning afer) therefore when under the influence of E your body takes the strenuous exercise better, due to the high levels of amphetamines in the brain, which cause a state of euphoria and well being. Soooooooo, in order to keep themselves going all night at a rave, electronic music lovers would consume E. Now, there isnt much dancing involved with hop-hop, i mean its not like u can dance alot to 110 BPM's lol hence E is not needed....that factual enough for you boy?

So you basically proven my point. Without E there is no raves and without raves there wouldn't be much electronic music. There isn't much dancin involved with hip hop ? dude are you from this planet, sure they don't have 10 hour danceathons, but there is tons of dancing in hip hop. I mean hip hop dancing classifies under its own category amongst dances.

Posted by LOT2005 on Jul-13-2006 04:07:

Yes im very much from this planet DUDE...but swinging from left to right in XXXL clothes does not qualify as dancing in my eyes...and HOLY FUCK! yes there would be electronic music without drugs...do you do drugs to every dance party (since they are not called raves anymore) you go to??? do you do E when you sit at home and listen to trance/house??? i sure hope not...and like a great man once said..."if you're not in it for the love of music...would you please fuck off?!?!"

Dude I said the situation is very much different today then when first electronic music came onto the scene. All my points are pointed to the past. Do you think that electronic music would be as big if it wasn't for the early raves ? I doubt it would. I don't do drugs at all parties I go to, but chances are if I were goin to raves 10-15 years ago it would of been a must since it was part of the culture . And just on what you said about hip hop tells me that ur a pretty close minded person. The hip hop/urban culture is one of the fasted growing in the world so get use to the swinging. But anywho I am done argueing with you. Believe what you want and I'll do the same.

And man you didn't know ? I am on E 24/7...I am actually seeing a doctor that Sasha recommended to me. I am total e head I am on like my 5 th pill today. (by the way none if this is true its all jokes)

I agree, done arguing with you too...this isnt about that...its about the love and peace of mind that the beautiful sounds of trance brings to our ears, minds...and soul hahaha Cheers!

Unfortunatly for you LOT2005, Mizza is correct

read some more history about the scene and the evolution of electronica

there was a time when electronica was just tripout-shit and not very good at all (no structure like today), but was really good in combination with drugs, especially e

Trance is far from dead ... it's just not "cool" right now, especially in the Toronto scene, because House is SO big (this is evident even on TA ... where ironically enough, most users, at least in the Toronto forums prefer house, not trance).

In a few years, house and hip hop will die down a bit, and other styles will become bigger once again.

Trance is very well and alive in Europe, and the trance scene in Toronto is just small right now.

LOT2005 i know you dont want me to get you started, but with
quote:
that factual enough for you boy?
at the end of your post i think its only fair for a rebutal

lets see what you had to say that is in fact, your opinion and not "factual"

first:
quote:
Proven fact that electronic music sounds better with E....ummm lol do you realize how ridiculous that sounds???

http://sciencenow.sciencemag.org/cg...006/216/2?etoc=
your gonna have to register to see this, but they are doing studies and this hypothesis is actually more correct then you may beleive. in short the article says that loud music is a huge stimulater while using MDMA, if you want to argue that he was saying electronica is the ONLY music that sounds better and not just loud music in general then i guess your right.

second:
quote:
Reason why E is popular at raves...(definition of a rave: party that goes from night till the morning afer) therefore when under the influence of E your body takes the strenuous exercise better, due to the high levels of amphetamines in the brain, which cause a state of euphoria and well being. Now, there isnt much dancing involved with hop-hop, i mean its not like u can dance alot to 110 BPM's lol hence E is not needed....

now im not a scientist, but you know what clearly neither are you. MDMA ( the ingredient in E that most ravers are looking for when they consume it) is responsible for the euphoric effects ( i feel fucking amazing!!!!) this is the reason why people do ecstacy, the secondary reason would be to get that extra boost of energy to keep you dancing all night..... the ingredient that plays the major role of keeping you dancing is speed which the ecstacy is usually cut with... and can be anywhere from 0-100% of the pill's contents. think about it man, if the MAIN reason ppl wanted to do E was to stay up all night and dance, they would just be popping speed... no need for MDMA.

once again not trying to start any fights or anything, just wanted to help clear that up..... if im wrong i will gladly admit it

as for my earlier post about the origins of raves and electronica and the connection to e, i used to have a great website which described how it all started in europe however i am unable to find it today.... so i guess i will accpet defeat in that argument unless someone else is able to dig it up.
