Thanks for the response and the efforts in addressing the concerns many of us had. It is true that Sonic and many other clubs get very hot in the summer when they are crowded, that is to be expected and actually adds to the clubbing experience in many instances, however it can get too hot inside a club where it becomes a health hazzard. Hopefully the fans will help get rid of the hot air. Thank you for also dealing with the water issue as well. Looking forward to Morales on Labour Day weekend.

Anything you can do about the gum situation? :P

Thanks for showing your class once again by looking into issues brought up your by your patrons and providing us with a detailed explanation of what happened.

something thats way too obvious but sadly has to be explained over and over to a lot of people on here.

As i said before, when the walls are sweating, you know its a good party!

Impressive. Really appreciated and respected that mngt does take to heart concerns we've voiced and takes the time to not only deal with them, but to communicate effectively the reasons behind the issues as well as the solutions being put in place.

I wish most organizations were run as such. Fantastic management style, if you ask me, and it can only improve things!

Dear TA's,

Thank you very much for attending the Industry 10 Year Anniversary at Sonic on the August Civic long weekend. We have taken the time to read a number of your suggestions and feedback regarding a number of issues at the venue. The last time we responded to any complaints was our opening night and all of issues were dealt with immediately. Likewise we are going to address all of your current issues.

The first thing that we would like to address is the heat that people felt on that Sunday. After our opening night, we received the same type of complaints about the heat. We immediately addressed the issues and spent over $10,000 to repair the HVAC units on roof of the building. On the weekend of Sunday August 6th, both HVAC units were working and were set at the lowest temperature possible. Any time you fill a room to capacity with moving bodies the temperature is going to rise. Because this room is so well insulated for sound, the room tends to hold moisture and heat. This room is in fact a floating room, the walls are built out with sound insulation, the floors are raised and covered in hard wood, and the ceilings are dropped with sound proofed tiling. For this reason heat does not escape. We are currently looking into some sort of an exhaust system to help remove heat from the room in order to address the issue. We have also ordered 6 industrial fans to help move the air around the room. We are looking at as many possibilities as possible. Boa was in fact just as hot, if not at times hotter...does anyone remember Danny Tenaglia on Canada Day? Many of us attended the Guvernment on Pride weekend, which again was just as hot. Has anyone been to Stereo when it is at capacity? Even back in the Industry days at the bigger parties...clubs get hot when they are busy and people are dancing. Either way, we are going to do our best to address the issue to keep it as cool and comfortable as possible.

The second issue that needs to be addressed is the issue of taking water bottles into the bathrooms. When the club initially opened, we had a couple of incidents where people stuffed red bull cans, and bottles of water down the toilets. This obviously made a huge mess and caused a great expense for the venue. The washroom attendants took it upon themselves to disallow bottles of water and red bull cans etc into the bathrooms due to this reason. This was brought to our attention on a couple of occasions and both times we addressed the issues with the bathroom attendants immediately. For some reason unbeknown to us, they have not taken direction very well. As of this weekend, those bathrooms attendants have been replaced with people that will allow bottles of water into the bathrooms.

Last but not least, the issue of water in the bathrooms. We currently have water saver faucets which have a push button on a timer which releases water every time you press the button. Unfortunately with those faucets, you do not have individual temperature control and you can not decide on hot or cold water. Both the hot and cold water mix when the button is pushed creating warm water. In the coming weeks we are also going to be changing the faucets so that you will have individual control and can get either hot or cold water.

We hope that these answers are satisfactory and as you come into the club in the coming weeks changes will have been made. Should you have any other comments or feedback please do not hesitate to e-mail us at [email protected]

Kind Regards,

Sonic Owners and Management

hey.. hopefully ur still reading this....

because ur club is open for such a long time, with no ins and outs (leaving and coming back), i tend to get real hungry around 8 or 9 am... but i don't wanna leave as it is such a good party and music...
is it entirely out of the question to sell some small snacks? possibly protein bars? i'm sure a lot of ur muscle head crowd would like it... i surely would buy some myself

This is a great idea. I'm sure we wont be able to serve up a huge selection, but selling items like protein bars, freezies (for those hot nights), etc - wouldnt be a huge effort.

Management reads TA on a fairly frequent basis, but I will talk to them personally about this idea. Making these items available in the downstairs lounge area would make perfect sense.

Sliced fruit would be golden. Parties in Montral always have sliced fruit, but I've never seen it in Toronto. I've always wondered why. Sliced fruit is the best thing ever at a party.

Good call on using the lounge for this though. It pretty much never gets used for anything else. Might as well use it.

Re: the gum policy. Much like Arc (formerly Vinyl) in NYC, we have beautiful hardwood floors. When we opened management agreed that we would give people the benefit of doubt and allow gum...surprise surprise, people found it necessary to spit there gum on the floor as opposed to respecting the venue and gum was then banned after week 3. You should only see what it takes to get 600 pieces of gum off the hard wood floors...the cleaning people had to freeze itnand scrape it up piece by piece...it took hours.

I hope you all understand where we are coming from...we are just trying our best to keep it beautiful. ;-)

As for the snack idea's, we are working on a number of improvements to our bar and they will hopefull start to pop up throughout the coming months.

Kind Regards,

The Sonic Family

The only time I've ever seen fruit at a party in TO (aside from New Years day "breakfasts" at fly...) was at the docks for Syrous' bittersweet party in 2002.

Yeah... Buying drinks and water in European clubs is ridiculous... 9 euros in France...

And as for Sonic... I respect your club... but turning off your cold water is against the law and im sick and tired of a lot of clubs doing this... And banning gum as well is ridiculous to.

I am 100% positive that you are aware that there are a large amount of Ecstacy users inside your club, and gum and water are essential necessities when partying with that drug, so in order to save yourself some money you are putting your own patrons at risk.

lol!

WTF.

who are you?

As good as an idea it is to have protein bars, or whatever, available...if gum provides as much mess as it does, can you imagine half eaten chocolate bars all over the place melting in that heat?

and honestly...are you telling me you can't go that long without eating?

Keep it all downstairs in the lounge and don't let people take food upstairs.

And offer fruit. That's an amazing idea.

Since when did these two things become essential when doing pills?

Consuming too much water when doing pills can be dangerous and chewing too much gum can damage your jaw.

Just party until you can't party any more and you will be fine
