Hey man, I respect your defense of the place... and in some senses you're right. But Tribe Hyperwhatever isn't a highroller club. It's not catering to an elite clientele. They're a venue that's providing at atmosphere for a scene. It's not right that they're holding their waiting public in line so they can let their big spenders in. If you want to do that, have a back door or a VIP entrance. Or make your big nights by invitation only. If your doors are open to the public, they're open to the public.

I can understand the economics of it; they're a business after all and want to make money. But those 20 guys that paid our dj also caused most of us to leave and not want to return. And those 20 guys don't give a s$$t about the establishment; they just want to drop their cash and feel like they're worth more than other people. It's certainly not loyalty that brings them to that club. And when they take their money elsewhere, what's Tribe going to do then when they've alienated their dedicated clientele.

I'm gonna rant on responsibility to the scene now, so if you don't believe in that kinda stuff, just skip past the orange part.

Principles and integrity and the like. We have a great scene in Montreal and a great crowd. I personally believe club owners should respect that. I know it's a pipe dream, but it's beliefs and dreams that change and rule the world, not money, no matter what people may think. Tribe failed miserably in that with what happened last night. No respect for the scene, no respect for their people.

If you're gonna say they had to deal with renovations and getting systems set up, I'm sorry, but that's no excuse. Poor management plain and simple. The place should have been ready in the afternoon. There's no way you can tell me they've been renovating steadily since they closed and unfortunately it took up until 11:30 or so last night to complete all the changes. When you're re-opening a place, you make damn sure you're ready at that time or you deal with repercussions professionally. Clearly Tribe has no understanding of this concept.

I'll still blame Tribe, If Michal didnt go to Mexico with the rest of the people and just sent them there and stayed here too over see the reconstruction of the whole, place I do not think this would of happened last night.

3 Weeks and something like this comes up onthe opening night... Tribe got pwned.

One thing its funny how a person just changes the name of their club and it goes down the drain.

Well, it's nice to see that public apology, bogus as it seems, but an open bar night seems too little too late. We go for the show, not the drink. We just drink a lot while we're there

That's pretty much all I have to say about that. Except to say that I miss Myst and Zabiela...

Even if Moog Audio took the blame about the issue, what thenev said in his post is totally true and responsibility should go to Tribe's management

I am happy Hakim showed up... because I would of been stuck outside for god knows how long or sitting outside waiting for Erika too come out seeing I was suppose to crash at her place.

Louis is right!!!

The shooting is a rumour...

if anything near that happened... police would have closed the club... the rumour started at around 2h30... but the club closed way after that

some pushing happened etc... but nothing serious

Posted by dirtymontreal on Sep-23-2006 00:15:

If you really want to complain.

Remember this industry is essentially controlled by the clubbers who support the artists.

Send your complaints to the agents who book their artists in the clubs.

[email protected] for Digweed, Lawler
[email protected] for Sander Kleinenberg

Or you could email the artists themselves on their websites.

Or you can just keep complaining here for the sake of bitching out loud.

ummmmm im not hating at all and im not talking about the music he played either. i enjoyed what malik played too hes a great guy and a good dj i think it would have sounded better as a peak time set because frankly it was just rather to big to start off diggers... i mean you saw how digweed brought it back down on the bpm and started off really dark. but thats just my opinion take it as it is if not then Oh well ....

Letter from Tribe owner.

First and foremost, we would like to apologize for all the unfortunate series of events that occurred last night. We do realize that this created a lot of anger, impatience and inconvenience for the people. Hence, we would like to take this time to explain some of last nights mishaps so please take this time to read the following:

Issue #1: Line-up:

Although there was an exceptionally long wait yesterday, this was not deliberate. Due to unanticipated technical difficulties with the sound system, we were unable to let anyone in the club for the contractors needed the time to fix the problem. Although it took longer than expected, we were finally able to detect the problem: a defective amplifier. This setback was finally fixed and will no longer be a concern for the near future for the sound system is now better and louder than ever.

Not to mention that we will also have two separate line-ups in order to ensure that people get in as fast as possible: one for guest list/bottle service and the other one for regular customers. We will ensure that regular customers will get in with ease and we will pay particular attention to those that arrive early.

Issue#2: Security/Bouncers:

Due to the unexpected delay, our security team needed to search people quicker so as to not prolong the unbearable wait. This, however, does not mean that it was done in a careless fashion. Yes there was an incident, but it was not as serious as people claim it to be. A fight did break out upstairs in the VIP but it was quickly regulated by the bouncers and there were no such thing as guns/weapons involved in the matter. There are strictly NO GUNS ALLOWED IN THE CLUB UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! We have a professional and experienced security team to ensure that this rule is enforced at all times

Issue #3: Mafiasos/Strippers:

These so-called mafiasos were in fact the contractors engaged to renovate the club. As for the strippers, these are hired dancers for the club.

All this being said, we would like to apologize once again for the inconveniences that this may have caused. Necessary measures and precautions will be taken to ensure customer satisfaction and compensation for time lost!!

Posted by Tag on Sep-23-2006 00:53:

So what are you guys doing to make up for it? I wasted 4 hours driving time to get turned away at the door...thats acceptable?

Issue #1... it was actually 3 line up's because bottle service people were going directly through the front door when they drove up.

Issue #3... you did have gangster go into your club because I had some dude shine his damn gold grill (teeth) in my face when he walked by.

Big spenders dont get inside the club before midnight charlie...

the club was ready... 97% of the job was done at 5pm... i was there with nick pilon... hes able to tell you... we saw it... the only thing left was putting the last paint and testing the projectors

even if you do a soundcheck 3 days in advance... if something fucks up... what you gonna do?

you know how much sound theres inside that club?... have you ever seen what amplifiers look like for a club like this one?

in Formula one... the best ingeniers are working on the cars... they put millions in their engine... their technology is sooo complicated... they have hundreds of peeps working for them... but you know what... at the end... when the race starts... theres not a single race where you dont see an engine break down... or the car in front doesnt wanna start and his race is ruined before they find the problem

fuckups happened... the club was ready... the bouncers were ready... the dj was ready... but the system fucked and everything came down with it...

they're sorry... i work there and i waited more then an hour outside... i caught a cold and had to push my way in... but i had a great time cuz i really wanted to see diggers and thats it...

next time... ill take care of you TAs when you come to kleinenberg or lawler

promise

work on the problem 24/7.

How hard is it too replace a damn $100k amplifier. If Tribe was willing too buy it, they would be willing to send someone where ever on the planet to pick it up and put it on a damn plane. If the company is retarded should of found another one wanting your business and money.

I wonder how people slept knowing the sound system was all fucked up and they had a big night.

One thing hope Tribe does a sound check daily, so no problems like this happen again.

Shit they should atleast have a couple sound checks a day.

Thats my two cents.

thats all well and good but we were also promised, and i quote from last night bouncers yelling "we promise we'll be openning in 15 minutes" and
"everyone will be allowed inside tonight"
none of that was true. Infact we waited 2 hours after that first little speech.

Also comparing formula 1 to a freaking club is just fucking stupid, dont bring yourself to their level of stupidity louis.

No problemo.

Please do tell me Tribe willing too do daily sound checks, hours before they open to the public.

It wont be a laughing matter if something like this ever happens again.

Wtv, shutting up now.

No use too say anymore seeing I made up my decision about this club already.

All of you willing too go back, have fun with out me.

It's always sad to see something like that in a club.
Why people go out with guns???

P.S. As for the sound, I was not there and I can't tell but for sure there is no reason to have problems with a sound system specially for a openning night. A sound system is nothing to compare with more advanced than NASA technology F1 cars. Good amplifiers are rock solid and can tours with bands for 5-6 years without any repairs so it should be something else.

nobody goes to a club before midnight. Thats how montreal's nightclubbers are. People got there early for having a chance to see Digweed. But whatever I'm not replying this post for that.

I particuly like your comment about the Formula 1.
I think its a brillant way to explain everybody how unexpected problem like these can happen. Still, an amplifier is not a racing car where every week engineers make modifications on it to competitate with other cars. An amp is a product produced in a fabric line and is tested before leaving the fabric to a retail store, but sometimes they employees don't do their job. You found yourself with a defective amp. how come you only noticed that the day or night of the event ? Maybe because the sound tech of the club and moog audio only runned their test at that time. Doing a sound test for it's first use doesn't have to be done at the last minute... or maybe it was done at the last minute cause the club itself had still renovation jobs to do.... hmmm thats sounds more like miscalculation of the work time to renovated the club.
I don'T know whats behind the sound of that club but I know and i have seen amps and stuff for other clubs. I know their is a lot to care about when setting up such things.
but whatever, shit can happen and people can accept technical problems. I said technical as refering to issues on technologic stuff.

thing is... From what i see here, the issue the people are complaining more about is with bad bouncers.
Now for sure the club will take action for this... but Digweed was there yesterday, not tomorrow with the new bouncers

ho and i use "you" at some places but I didn't mean to address myself to you personnally and I'm trying to pass my message to the club... not you.. I don't take you responsable for anything
