I'll have another go, because this is entertaing. I'll do a couple more than last time too.

1. Monster Magnet - Look To Your Orb For The Warning
I don't remember anything about this track. It's from The Matrix soundtrack, but I must always skip it. Not surprising- it's the same dull kind of alt-rock you'd hear back at the turn of the millenium.

2. Jam & Spoon - Zen Flash Zen Bones
My MP3 player really loves Tripomatic Fairytales for some reason- evertime I do some random browsing it seems to turn a track up from it. This one's quite appropriate as I own a Zen Vision.

3. Mike Oldfield - First Landing
From his 1995 album Songs of Distant Earth, which is apparently inspired by an Arthur C Clark album. This seems to be a typical Oldfield 1990s track- heavily-produced and laden with melodic guitar, but it ends very quickly.

4. Green Velvet - Explorer
This is some proper old-skool Chicago acid house. I think it's a pretty rare track too- it's taken from a historical compilation of Chicago experiment and acid stuff and I can't find it on Discogs.

5. Rob Dougan - Prelude
The intro to the vocal side of his superb Furious Angels album. Just a short, brooding choral piece but very good all the same. I prefer the instrumental half of this album though.

6. Butthole Surfers & Moby - Tiny Rubberhand
We seem to be in 90s Movie Soundtrack mood tonight. This is from the Spawn soundtrack, so it's one of those one-off tracks where some popular rock act gets together with a big-name electronic act from the time and they make a forgettable track and move on.

7. Mike Oldfield - Let There Be Light (BT Mix)
Er... this is another track from The Songs of Distant Earth. This one is from BT's brilliant Rare & Remixed album and it's certainly both: an absolutely scorching and rare-as-fuck complete rerub of the track. A monster of a track that has hardly any of Oldfield's original in it.

8. Pendulum - Streamline
From their huge (by drum 'n bass standards, at any rate) Hold Your Colour album- my favourite album of 2005. It's lush and gorgeously produced stuff, almost downtempo drum 'n bass, one of several such tracks on the album. A lovely vocal hook too.

9. Rage Against The Machine - New Millenium Homes
A lot of rocky stuff coming up this time round too. Thankfully this is RATM and thus is class, despite being not the best track on The Battle of Los Angeles

10. Chemical Brothers - Got Glint?
By 1999 the Chems must have made enough money to decide they could give up on rocking hip-hoppin' big-beat and sound more like their heroes New Order. Thus we have a melodic and housey album in Surrender, from which this is taken. You always know you're in reliable hands with the Chems, even when they're not on top form.

11. The Doors - Alabama Song
To be completely honest, I've never heard this before. I bought this album for The End, and haven't actually played it through yet. So I'm not sure what to make of this. Um... I hope the rest of the album isn't in this vein.

12. Fatboy Slim - Slash Dot Dash
When does comic-book big-beat stop being fun and turns into sheer bloody irritation? Slash dot dash dot slash dot dash dot....

13. Chicane - Andromeda
Some lovely sunny trance (it's Chicane!) that is soon going to sound completely out of place as Britain slowly turns into the most miserable, dark and rainy place on Earth.

14. Orbital - Forever
It's the opening track of an Orbital album. You know it's brilliant. Snivilisation is an album that's supposed to be highly political, which I suppose comes from the vocal samples you hear through it, including this track. However, trying to be political with instrumental music seems pointless to me, and I enjoy this because Orbital are masters at creating delicate synth symphonies.

15. Basil Poledouris - The Orgy
This is a gorgeous exotic orchestral piece from the Conan The Barbarian score. The film may have a reputation as a trashy geek staple, but the score is absolutely fantastic- one of my favourite film scores. This is a great track to finish my list on.

round 2 for me. i've removed most of the doubles and triples and stuff that's not music in my list and now it's 26661 files

01. sabotage - return to ibiza (lock 'n load remix)
this one's a "bit" cheesy, but i still like it. i used to blast this a lot back in the day. this is definitely a party tune, nothing serious. i bet this would still work in some kind of a party, that's why i bought the cdm bakc in the day i guess.

02. re-animator - rewire your brain
this is some crap hard trance tune from some gary d. compilation i bought because of some other tune. they used to sell all these gary d. compilations for 2 or 3 in this one supermarket here in finland. most of the compilations would have a couple decent tunes and the rest would be crap like this.

03. project medusa vs. exor - moonshine (vocal radio edit)
crap version. i bought the cdm for the exor part II mix, which is brilliant. this is just some cheesy vocal crap version.

04. Eskimo - Thirs And Trails
i used to love j00f's sets before he went all psy. eskimo's the kinda stuff he started playing, i tried to get into it but never really could. so this doesn't really sound very good to me.

05. LSG - Netherworld (Kid Loops Remix)
kid loops remix of netherworld! haven't heard this before, but i fucking loved his remix of "paragliders - change me". this one sounds very similar to that one. this one's decent, but not the best mix of netherworld and not the best stuff by kid loops either. kinda disappointing actually.

06. Space Manoeuvres - stage one (leama and moor main mix)
i love this one, although many will say it's a crap remake. i think it's nice, not better than the separation mix, but still nice. i tried to buy it from city16.com but they fucked me over and stole my money, so it seems that i have to settle for this downloaded version then.

07. Sander Kleinenberg - Work It
got this from emusic. they had some offer, that gave me 100 free mp3s, so naturally i took advantage of it! :P anyway i've always liked sander kleinenberg, but this is a little too cheesy IMO. this tune has potential in it, but the melody line ruins it.

08. the mystery - mystery (original mix)
decent. nothing special here, a little cheesy, but i think it's still ok.

09. starchaser - love will set you free (original mix)
dunno at all what this tune is. housey stuff. this is actually pretty good.

10. Hardy Heller - Drowing in
haven't heard this one before. it went kinda unnoticed as background music while doing something. so it wasn't bad. not great either, as it didn't caught my attention.

pretty basic selection once again by winamp shuffle. all edm again.

Here's another go.

Notorious B.I.G. - "Hypnotise"
Like all the old skool shit. Brothers would always listen to it so it was chucked at me early on. 2 Pac/Bone Thugs etc.

Matt Darey feat. Marcella Woods - "Beautiful"
Probably one of Marcella's finest moments. Wasn't keen on the song when it first came out but it grew on me over the years. Not your typical trance bassline either, sorta housey.

Fly My Pretties - "Miracles"
New Zealand group made up of Wellington's finest. From 'The Return of Fly My Pretties' live album. Has Hollie Smith as vocalist, fast becoming NZ's best after she collabed with another group after this album was released. She has a deep, husky voice that just reaches those high notes, she does them fucking well tho. Rhodes and slick guitar work.

Delirious - "Innerface"
From 'White Label Republic'. Had only just brought this CD on my recent travels up to Auckland. Awesome percs and synth work. I don't know much about prog/psy or w/e this is but i am really liking this tune and CD.

Luniz - "I got five on it"
Yeah k it's an old one but it pisses my off so i fast fowarded it.

Goldenhorse - "Wandering one"
New Zealand Folk/Pop band with amazing vocalist Kirsten Morelle (sp.). Don't like this song but the a side of the single "Out of the moon" is pretty good.

Casa Flava - "De moma de" (Paris & Sharp Mix)
Nice little prog tune from, of course, The Great Wall comp. I like the vocals but the rest is a bit naff for me.

Novy Vs. Eniac - "Someday>Somehow" (Original Club Mix 2)
Cool little tech/house tune from 1998 by Tom Novy and Tomcraft. Picked it up at a second hand shop for $2. Same place where i got The Space Brothers album 'Shine' too.

Darude - "Sandstorm"
Fuck it just had to come aye? Was good back in the day but can't really stand it now.

Adam White - "Ballerina" (Duberina Mix)
Thought this song was pretty decent without those 'fuck off' vocals, damn! Made a bit of a mix with this and "Massive Motion" and it sounds good.

Jay Tripwire & Grant Dell - "Slo Roast"
Smooth housey tune that has a cool clicks fluttering all over the place.

Goldenscan - "Ascension" (Montana Dub)
Love this tune! Classic. Piano always gets me.

Beyonce feat. Slim Thug - "Check on it"
Mates i swear..........deleted, worse song this year.

Armin Vs. M.I.K.E. - "Intruder"
Don't really like this song. A few things attract me to it but the over use of the off beat snare irritates the shit outta me.

Kyau Vs. Albert - "Kiksu"
Nothing really special about this tune other than the percs, i really enjoy them.

Sinead O'Connor - "Troy" (Phoenix from the flame) (Andi Durrant Mix)
OK trance chill out piece. Piano's are pretty nice but other than that, i thought i could do a better job at creating an atmosphere.

B-Boy - "Front to back" (Jonesey's Reversed Remix)
Cheesey light Hard House tune with ghey rap "from the front to the back, here comes the master. shitty stuff.

Zander feat. Alexis Hart - "What's up" (Coopra Remix)
Remake of the 4 Non-Blondes tune. Only brought it because it was made by Kiwi/Aus people and thought i would support the, quite literally dead dance producing scene in NZ. CHEESE!!

Paul van Dyk feat. St Etienne - "Tell me why" (The Riddle) (Club Mix)
This and the Vandit Re-Mix were my favourite of the bunch. I have so many memories with this. Definately one of PVD's for me. Has incredible atmosphere and the melody is mind blowing!! Very smooth, beautiful trance.

Lamb - "Gabriel"
Her voice is incredible. This song is a favourite of mine, so much emotion and those violins tear at the heart.

Twice as much as last time :P Bit more variety but mostly still 4 to the floor.

Posted by montana on Oct-15-2006 18:56:

last one.

Armand van Helden - Flowerz
took a while for me to like this one, nice track tho

M-Flo - Prism
japanese r&b, good track

Dania - El Helwa Di
arabic pop tracl, love this track more or less.

Kate Ryan - Desenchantee (Radio Edit)
one of them guilty pleasures i reckon, the original mylene farmer track is like the only one i like by her and this cover just naturally became to my liking aswell

M.I.A. - Bucky Done Gun
such an immense production by Diplo on this one, especially implying the machinegun sounds (like klf did in last train to trancentral). heard this one on radio once, got hooked instantly, then heard hombre & galang and went and bought arular. great album

Hikaru Utada - travelling
Jpop track, this one's a cut taken from her third album Deep River, not really the best track on it, but i like it

Ben Horn - Straight From The Hideout
deephouse track taken from nordic lounge 2, it's ok, nothing special

Two Heads - You Don't Know (What I Really Want Mix)
eurodance track, great one aswell, never been able to work it in my euromixes because of it being 160bpm.

QB - Zman
most psyproducers often whack 70 minutes of fast beats on their album and then almost every time put one downtempo track as the last track. yeah, good track tho, like the guitar

Jacksons - ABC
immense track

Melanie C - I Turn To You (Hex Hector Radio Edit)
great cheesy track, really like the strings in this one.

Pet Shop Boys - Minimal (Radio Edit)
not their best track but good one still

Ramirez - Terapia (DJ Ricci Radio Edit)
Great track, ubercheesy but really good

George Michael - Fantasy
i have this on ladies & gentlemen the best of george michael, never really listened to it. hmm, i like it, nice bass in this one

Emjay - We All Need Love
one of mi fav eurotracks of alltime. emjay was a good eurosinger, good thumping beat and lovely synths.

Sidi Mansour - Ya Baba
Arabic track, great one too, is an instant floorfiller at an arabic party here, nomatter how fucking overplayed it is (yeah, it makes Motorcycle - ATRC look pitiful). Also holds the source for the arabic sample that Piu & Picotto nicked for their track Arabian Pleasures.

Posted by Dyshein on Jan-09-2007 21:28:

Might as well give it a try...

Blue Haze - Greedy Planet
meh-ish chillout tune, name sounded cool -_-

Paula Abdul - My Love is for Real feat Ofra Haza (Junior Vasquez Club Remix)
0_o really isn't that bad of a song though...

Ron Van Den Beuken - Keep On Movin
Ah, some nice high-energy techno

Perfect Blue - Akumu
From the anime Perfect Blue. Really dark ambient song, used to listen to it a good amount.

Mike Shiver - Feelings
Should need no explanation

Duncan Sheik - On a High (Gabriel and Dresden Remix)
I love this remix, used to listen to this song all the time

Jeff Mills - Life Cycle
errr, sounds like somebody just screwed around with synth equipment for 4 minutes, had to skip by this one

Fear Factory - Undercurrent
I indulge in non-technoish stuff from time to time -_-

Infected Mushroom - Deeply Distrubed (Yahel Remix)
classic psytrance, love this song

Ian van Dahl - Castles in the Sky
rofl.... At least it's better than that crappy Will I song they came out with after this...

Picadilly Palare - Bona Drag - Morrissey

Pretty good Morrissey track, not one of my favourites, but altogether solid.

The Message - Dance Album 1.1 - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5

Awesome song. Lyrical Genius really.

There is a light that never goes out - Live At Earls Court - Morrissey

Originally A Smiths Song, written by Morrissey and Johnny Marr. Performed live here with his band at Earls Court.

I Am A Wicked Child - Radiohead - Com Lag (2+2 = 5 EP)

I actually stole this CD from a party and there was a ten pound note underneath it, so I stole that as well, Don't invite me to your parties lol. I'm a total dick lol.

Temptation - New Order - Transpotting OST

Probably my favourite New Order song, although I can't remember at which point exactly in the movie that they play this. Nonetheless, totally ace.

She Don't Use Jelly - The Flaming Lips - Transmissions From The Satellite

Awesome Flaming Lips song, probably their most fun song.

Rock Bottom - Eminem - The Slim Shady LP

This song dedicated to all the happy people, who have real nice lifes, and have no idea what it's like to be broke as fuck.

From the man himself, I love this song and really the whole album. Shows real talent and such a fantastic, promising debut. Before all the shit that came afterwards

Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard - Ryan Adams - Gold

This song really means something to me, this song in particular got me through a pretty shitty time during a fucked up relationship. But I still love listening to it regardless of the bad memories.

The Narcotic Suite - The Prodigy - Music For The Jilted Generation

I don't really like this song to be fair haha. I really should take it off my Ipod.

Harvest - Decade - Neil Young

Pretty good song but not one of my favourites.

Posted by Shamez214 on Jan-09-2007 23:16:

I'm skipping album skits and sets when listing tracks.

In-Q - Want Ads
A hip hop track by an unsigned dude from California. He's my favorite MC as of now. This isn't one of my favoirtes though.

Justin Timberlake - Sexyback
This was my shit over the Summer. I remember th first time I heard it was at a bar on the Jersey Shore. My friend and I looked at each other like "WTF? Is this hip hop or house?" But I loved it after that.

Imogen Heap - Hide & Seek (Yvel & Tristan Mix
I'm not sure if this is really a Y&T remix, but it was the first track in one of their sets. A cool down-tempo remix of those dope vocals. The R3volve Mix is still my favorite and gets listens quite often.

2pac - Street Fame
Never listened to this before. Not one of his best, but not really bad. The production is boring.

Jose Gonzalez - Crosses
Dope. I love that guitar and his singing is awesome.

Angello & Ingrosso - Yo Yo Kidz
I dig this. I love the build up. One of my favorites out of the SHM clique.

Lionel Ritchie - All Night Long
That's what's up. If you don't know it, you should. Immidiately puts a smile on my face.

Blue October - Congratulations
Cool rock jam. Nice and mellow. Sounds like something that should be on a soundtrack to a movie.

Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body (Sander Kleinenberg Queensday Mix)
One of my all-time favorite house jams. I would kill to hear this out, but I doubt it'd ever happen. I'll have whateveryou have...

Ol' Dirty Bastard - Goin' Down
The hardest and rawest beat ever produced by RZA. And that's saying a lot. ODB was one of the strangest rappers ever, but every now and then he'd come with something like this.

What I find really weird about this list is that I got two JT tracks. And all the rest, besides the 2pac, are songs I'm very familiar with. As of now, I have 10,179 tracks in my winamp and I'd say I'm familiar with about 15% of them. Strange...

Mind vs. Buzz - The Temple Of Love
One of my favorite melodies.

Roland Klein - Nexus Point (Jay Frog Mix)
Nice hardtrance tune.

Tekkno By Pass - It's Great Fun (Trance Mix)
Another hardtrance tune.

Haddaway - What Is Love
Classic. :)

Giuseppe Ottaviani - White Lady
My favorite Ottaviani track. :)

01. Paula Cole - Where Have All The Cowboys Gone? (E-Team Drugstore Cowboy Remix)
good god - and i actually bought this as a cd single many years ago as my girlfriend and i were on a paula cole kick for a few months in like '97.

02. Hierolglyphics - You'll Never Know (Dom Remix)
i've always been an east coast head, but the hiero crew were always quality. this remix is bananas.

03. Rottin Rascals - Oh Yeah
forgot i had this... one hit wonders from 1995. best thing about this song was the opening part of the video as the dude raps while handcuffed and face-down on the hood of a police car... "what's the problem officer, i ain't be did nothin'."

04. Propylon - Exile
solid tune by Jonas Steur.

05. Weezer ft. Speed Levitch - Undone (The Sweater Song) (Live Radio Edit)
always had a love/hate relationship with weezer as i can't stand rivers cuomo; like this song quite a bit tho. speed levitch is a nyc tourguide/urban poet/weirdo extraordinairre.

06. The Deadkirks - Mr. Kirk, Your Son Is Dead
another ancient tune - silly but i like it. don't do drugs kids.

07. Bounty Killa - Nitro Mix
this is a dj cut from the series "strictly the best, vol. 17" - anyone who buys this series should only shop the odd numbers of the series as the even ones tend to be less good...

08. Sundawner - Krystal Dreams (Marcus L Remix)
a nice but disposable release by matti laamanen on monster. this tune always makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

09. Nikos Kourkoulis - Mia Nyxta Ston Paradeiso
greek music =)

10. Nas - I Know I Can
nice little tune has nas dispensing life advice to the kiddies; i liked slick rick's "hey young world" a lot better...

01: Icons - Feel

Trance from 1993, released on Labworks Germany. Great mid-set track if you're playing this type of music. Acid isn't the main element in this track though, as only the bassline and some subtle background elements are run by the 303.

02: Spooky - Belong (Echospace Mix)

What can I say, this is the best version of this beautiful track. My favorite part is about 2/3 into the track I guess, when the piano comes in.

03: Suzuki L.T.D. - Drop Zone

More trance, this time from 1995, with an acid buildup. Nothing too overblown though, just nice atmospherics.

04: Coil - The Anal Staircase

Industrial classic, love the lyrics.

05: Drax - Outdoor Excursions

Old school Heckmann here, giving an alternative to his trance/rave classics "Amphetamine" and "Phosphene". Slow, acid breakbeat track with a great melody.

This is what my randomizer had to choose from:

I might do more later.

Posted by nefardec on Jan-10-2007 02:54:

1. Agnelli & Nelson - Slide (Original Mix)
Hadn't heard this in some time. Sounds like it should be the themesong for some 80s TV action/drama.

2. Jacques Ibert - Concertino da Camera (Animato Molto)
As the name suggests, the fast part of Jacques Ibert's piece. I used to play a lot of classical alto saxophone and this is from my collection of saxophone concertos. I used to have a part for this and I remember trying to play it feverishly.

3. Dannii Minogue - Put The Needle On It (Laid's Zoo Brazil Remix)
Love Zoo Brazil, don't love this track. I bet it would go over well if I played it at my university however.

4. 8 Wonders - 8th Wonder (Original Mix)
Always will like 8th wonder. Just a great trance groove that keeps rolling without being pretentious, arrogant, or melodramatic. I prefer the Espene and Stian remix.

5. Luke Chable Presents Quest - Air
Don't really like this track very much. A bit pretentious, I tend to prefer dance music meant to make your body move, not your brain.

6. Kaskade - Everything (Kaskade's Big Room Mix)
Ouch, this game is brutal. Kaskade came to Cleveland last year and I wanted to hear what the act sounded like. I didn't go.

7. Sasha - Xpander (Original Mix)
among all-time favorites...enough said.

8. Beam vs. Cyrus - Lifestyle (Original Mix)
Can't listen to this stuff anymore, but I used to back when it came out.

9. Jasefos feat. Claire Sky - Do What You Want (Max Graham Afterhours in Montreal Mix)
Nice deep prog, vocals remind of 90s pop though, not my thing.

10. Vascotia - Verano (Resolution Remix)
Bland uplifting trance with pads so fat they sound like white noise. But I'm not going to say it was never in my car and I never got crazy and bounced around when it was playing.

11. Fred Baker - Total Blackout (Original Mix)
This is painful for me to listen to. It is the epitome of the decadence that has become club dance music. My friend who enjoys this stuff gave this to me, and I had the unfortunate pleasure of hearing armin van buuren play it and paul oakenfold as well.

12. New Order - Blue Monday
Classic

13. 8 Wonders - 8th Wonder (Espen & Stian Mix)
This is pretty ironic - everything I said about the original mix, but I like it better. Have started off sets with this one. It's got a new-age feeling to it, strong percs and bass make it a bodily experience. For dancing in cool weather at the brink of dawn waiting for the sun to peek over the mountains, or for morning lovemaking.

14. Steve Bug & Tanzmann - Shick
From the comp. "Neo-Trance". Gotta love poker flat

15. Michel De Hey - Jetchi
Driving groove, richly textured gritty brassy saws, bumping bassline, cool track.

16. Phuture 303 - Acid Trax
fuck yes, one of the most furious pieces of music I have ever heard

thats enough for now

Depeche Mode Song. Classic. You've got a lot of good stuff there

last one, honest

Funkstrung - Fat Camp Feva (Shadow Huntaz Remix)
great hiphop track, the beatedits in this track is great

Aquanote - True Love (Petalpusher Dub)
i like the original but don't like this remix alot tho, it's ok, but it's standard miguel migs fare

Elissa - Min 3alby Ghanait
arabic track, have it on one of elissa's albums, nothing special with this track but it's a good track

Chemical Brothers - Galvanize (Pocket Rocket Remix)
TA's own MaRt did this remix and he took the track straight of the cd, by using the strings and some of elements from the intro & break he did a banging rework. The fake acidlines are great and that bassline is thick very driving

The James Gang - Ashes, The Rain & I
taken from this great cd called "A Break from the Norm" which is basicly a collection of tracks that's all been sampled by Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim. This great symphonic rock track from the 70's holds the source of where norman got the strings for "Right Here, Right Now"

Fadel Shaker - El Door 3ala Me
pretty ok track, this one was on an album that i got for another track which is immense.

Blmchen - Ganz Bald
it's on blmchen's greatest hits 2cd, blmchen is one of my guilty pleasures, don't like this track tho, not because it's a "downtempo" track but it's just pretty bland

Midway - Kung Fu
one of my favs from Ralph Berendse, great percussionwork in this one

Bjrk & David Arnold - Play Dead
so beautiful, just beautiful, a great collaboration.

Soul Of Man - Love & Hate
a nice slab of funky finger lickin breaks.

Michelle Gayle - Freedom (Classic Expo Mix)
David Morales on the remix here, good remix but it's very typical of the 90's def mix sound, however i do like the dark pads with the plot twist morales brings into the mix in the middle of the track, really gives this garagehouse track a different flavour

Haddaway - Rock My Heart (Radio Edit)
this might well be my favourite Haddaway track, ten times better than "what is love"

Redman - Fuk Da Security
was & still is available for download at the Gilla House site. Great redman track, really like the guitar sample that was used.

Looptroop - Long Arm Of The Law
Immense track, Embee's jazzy beat is great and i like when Promoe imitates Junior Reed at the end of his verse

Dead Can Dance - Bird
from the collection "A Passage In Time", one of the bonus tracks on it, it's a great 3/4 tribal track with some minor chanting.

Autopilot - Betty Boy
an absolute mad mashup which fuses together the beats of Spiderbait's cover of "Black Betty" and the John Denver's "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" albeit distorted. This is nothing short of genius

dont stop now!

geez I havent logged on to TA in forever

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jan-10-2007 19:32:

Hey, whatever, it's not like I have anything better to do :P

Tilt - I Know You're Afraid
This is one of the few newer Tilt tracks I like. Then again I'm a breakaholic

Dallas Superstars - Helium
I didn't even know I had this anymore but I'm glad I do. Energetic goodness without cheese (unless you listen to the vocal clips).

Sentenced - Noose
This is one of those tracks that happens to magically appear on my HD every time I have friends over drinking. A decent hard rock/metal track.

LCD Soundsystem - Yeah (Crass Version)
I heard this on some DJ's set while listening to the radio at work and instantly had to get it. Not a very good track otherwise but the buildup towards the end is just mental.

Rank 1 - Awakening (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Always brings a smile to my face. Very summery.

Solar Factor - Deep Sonar
Not one of M.I.K.E's finest. And this file seems to be in mono for some weird reason.

Pepe Delux - Salami Fever
Breaks goodness from Finland. These guys are percussive/experimental geniuses.

Mark Normal - Total Seduction
It's very rare that someone can make a track this simple and make it work. I like.

Blackwatch & Greed feat. Leslie - Gentle Rain (Grayarea Dismembered Breaks Mix)
Can't go wrong with Grayarea, can you?

The Chemical Brothers - The Sunshine Underground
One of my faves from the Chems. Hypnotic stuff.

Spicelab - The Last Supernova
- Very nice 17 minute higher bpm trance journey from Oliver Lieb's Spicelab debut album.

David Arnold - The James Bond Theme (LTJ Bukem Remix)
- Bukem's d'n'b remix in its original most subtle form which differs quite a bit from the reedited and ruined version featured on Arnold's 1997 Bond theme compilation. Bukem released the original remix on his own 'Rarities' CD in 2002.

Leevi And The Leavings - Tuhannen Markan Seteli (Disko Instrumentaali)
- Rather hilarious yet addictive little piece of instrumental Finnish pop rock from the mid 80s.. also featured as the theme song for a sports news show on TV here more than a decade ago. From their best of compilation 'Keskiviikko'.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
- Ahh good ol' Sabbath and the days when Ozzy's talking was still somewhat understandable.. This is the rockin' opener track from their self titled debut album from 1970. Taken from a CD reissue of the album.

Goldie - Inner City Life (Rabbit In The Moon's Vocalic City)
- I love RITM but some of the RITM remixes aren't really too great, lack of "something" to keep you interested for the whole time.. just like this lengthy pretty dull proggy house mix. It has its moments and will most likely work in a club but still not my mix of choice... the breakdown is lovely but that's about it. Then again RITM breaks mix, titled 'Escape From The Vocalic City' or RITM ambient mix, titled 'Return To Vocalic City', are much more interesting. From the US CDM of Inner City Life.

Lunatic Asylum - Cabal (Energy Flow) (DJ Tisto Remix)
- A very good example of enjoyable uplifting trance i sadly seem to listen quite rarely these days. So me likey this one alot! From the Cabal CDM.

Transform - Transformation (Irresistible Trance Mix)
- Absolutely wonderful piece of old skool trance, still not as good as original but this remix by Irresistible Force is very damn good as well. Taken from the 3rd volume of easily one of the best trance compilation series ever created.. 'Secret Life Of Trance' originally compiled by Caspar Pound from the early to mid 90s, where about all the tracks of all the volumes were/are worth OMGing about unlike most trance compilations nowadays.

Putsch '79 - Arpeggio Life
- Quite nice Finnish retro sounding feel good houser from a few years back, picked from a loungy compilation called 'Later - Faze Action'.

Fridge - Paradise (Komakino Remix)
- Don't like Fridge's second take on the track much at all.. it's not a totally lost effort but not that great either. I wish shuffle would have chosen the much better Push remix on the same CDM tho.

Winx - Hypnotizin' ('96 Remix)
- Josh Wink went on to melodic old old skool breaks with this remix which has pretty much nothing in common with original or any of the other mixes on the CDM. Great mix tho.

-another killer M83 track

round 3 for moi

1. Louie "Balo" Guzman - Curvas [Tribal Winds]
very nice start, loving it, a very nice and groovy saxophone workout, backed with a lovely tribal beat. just the kinda jazz i love .

2. Pantytec - A Glimpse [Perlon]
minimal techno, not my groove, nor the kinda sounds i'm into, will be deleted.

3. 4E - Bimbo Limbo [Home Entertainment]
slow and hypnotic, would fit well as an opener somewhere.

4. The Prodigy - Your Love (Remix) [Elektra]
slightly inferior to the original, classic anyway.

5. Alex Smoke - If You Mean It [Cocoon]
would probably work better as a beatless track, but i can manage it as is, will find a spot as an opener.

6. Suns Of Arqa - Acid Tabla (Re-Mix) [Arka Sound]
there's nothing acidic about this not much interesting either.

7. Berg Nixon - The Depths [Minus]
this track has a nice bassline going for it, but other than that it just plays nonsense with the percs, desperately in need of a remix to make it as minimal as it's purported to be.

8. Vernon - Sooner Or Later (The One Mix) [Eye-Q]
went a bit overboard with the singing if he wanted to qualify this for a trance set, and a bit overboard with the arpeggios if he wanted to qualify this for a house set, to be deleted.

9. Air Liquide - Ek-Stasis [Smile]
quite a trip, various acid lines - some stolen from oldschool acid house recordings - fighting amongst themselves in disharmony backed by some sweet pads, would be fun to contextualize this to the high peak of a night.

10. Space Cowboy - That's What Dreams Are Made Of (Alan Braxe Remix) [Tiger Trax]
w00t, the first truly embarrassing song of the lot, fortunately for me, you probably haven't heard it to be deleted promptly .

11. The Doors - Twentieth Century Fox [Rhino Records]
not their best, but still, it's The Doors .

12. Damon Wild - Space Time [Synewave]
legit techno, not too interesting though, booted.

13. Laurent Garnier Live @ Yellow Club Tokyo 2004 (part 5)
covers diva house, funky house, funk, jazz, tribal, and reggea among other styles, and all in the space of those last 40 minutes of the set, Garnier rules.

14. Sleeparchive - Hospital 03 [Sleeparchive]
actual minimal techno, a rare specimen nowadays, but this particular slab is not for me.

15. Sven Vaeth - Design Music (Si Begg S.I. Future Remix) [Virgin]
i prefer the original but this isn't bad.

16. Ars Deco - Sad Track [No Response]
a rather nice downtempo piece, not exactly my groove, but i still manage to enjoy it, very relaxing.

17. Two Lone Swordsmen - Big Clapper (C-PIJ Remix) [Warp]
experimental ambient thingy, bordering on the noise genres, not my cup of tea.

18. Luciano & Serafin - Voodoo's N Blues [Cadenza]
the track title describes it well enough.

19. Putsch '79 - Glowing Cat [Clone]
deep house, nice organic drums, all in all - cute.

20. Total Eclipse - Bom Bole [TIP]
overjoyed oldschool psytrance from 1994 .

Right, with a good chunk of my collection from back home imported on to my laptop, things should hopefully be a bit more varied this time.

Benga - Break It
Dubstep business of usual Benga quality. Nothing fancy here, just a straightforward stepper with some neat pads and synths to contrast all the bass. Works well in the mix.

Eric Prydz - Call On MaRt
Call On Me dnb style! Steve Winwood as a chipmunk might be a bit too much for people though.

Total Science - Smashed
Another great track for the mix. A pretty stripped down and beat-based affair that rolls out like only TS can, but at the same time with this quirky and odd undertone that sets it a bit apart from other TS tunes.

Tranceparents - Child Two (Summer Love Remix)
W00t, forgot I had this on my harddrive after buying the album. PvD's best remix to date as far as I'm concerned. An absolutely beautiful summery slice of oldschool trance, with lush female vocal samples and shimmering sounds that just flutter out of the speakers. Also a total revamp of the original, which is a lot darker and grittier.

Miranda - Feel The Effect (Earthbound Extended Version)
Ack, one of the few guilty pleasures on this comp. This is cheesy as hell and not clever in any way whatsoever. And that octave switch at the end... However, the riff just hasn't let go of my brain ever since they played it on radio back home 7-8 years ago, and pitched up to +8 this goes right off. The original is of course far better: a typically twisted and mind-bending affair from one of Sweden's biggest goa heroines.

Psychonauts - Essential Mix 15.12.96
A very zeitgeisty mix from the time when Mo'Wax, UNKLE, Nightmares On Wax and DJ Shadow were the best things since sliced bread. Doesn't sound as relevant these days, but still a very impressive mix showcasing broken beats from pretty much every angle there is. Some immense tunes as well, like DJ Die - Stone Love and The Wild Bunch's (proto-Massive Attack) cover of "The Look Of Love" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

Daniel Menche - Untitled (Track 4 from the album Field Of Skin)
Noisy, droning dark ambient from one of the genre's absolute masterminds. Sounds like a swarm of wasps homing in on one of those bug killer lamps, before the whole track slowly but surely creeps up on you, intensifying for every second. I opened the first ambient mix I ever did with this one. I could zone out to this stuff for days, drone lover that I am.

Ed Rush - Bludclot Artattack
"You got a ticket to hell?" One of the blueprint tunes for the techstep/darkstep branches that jungle would see later on, and one of my absolute favourite oldschool jungle tracks. The warbling, twisted atmosphere after that infamous vocal sample smacks it every time.

Break - The Truth
Typical newschool drum n bass rinse out. Sounds overproduced, and doesn't do a whole lot. Deleted.

Opiate - Venus
Warm and fuzzy sounds from Denmark's Thomas Knak, who is perhaps best known for producing tracks for Bjrk. This is not among the best things he's done, but still a nice track that goes easy on the ears.

Skepta - The End
A remix medley of several big grime hits, such as Jammer - Murkle Man, his own hit "Duppy" and a bunch of others I don't remember the name of. Not bad, but by far the weakest track on the release.

Red Shift - This High
Very dark and atmospheric progressive trancer from around 99/00. The Austin Leeds Mix is better, and it's not all that varied, but I still think this is pretty nifty. A good set builder.

Oliver Lieb - Subraumstimulation (Push Remix)
Shock horror, a MIKE production with a proper kickdrum! I never liked the original of this, it just sounds so weak by Oliver's standards. MIKE beefs the track up considerably on his remix, ditches the big riffs, adds a whopping bassline that doesn't go OTT and then just lets the beats roll the track out. Good shit.

Solar Quest - Revelation (Meditative)
The ambient side to A+B = C In D#. Devised to be played simultaneously with the other side, Harmonation, a typical 20 minute 303 slaughter that George Saunders is reknowned for. Played together, the results are nothing short of immense.

Alex & Vince - Angel Dust
Getting a bit too trancy now, meh. This is good also, though. Caught it randomly on Beatport. A bit slow, but with percussion to die for, tons of drive and sweeping synthwashes aplenty. If you like Signum - 5 Yards, do check this one out.

Keenan & Anderson - Drift Away (Gift's Ambient Mix)
The original of this sounded a bit too much like K&A's first tune, Futurestep. This chillout take on it, however, is quite lovely. It sprinkles some light touches of the original over a simple yet irresistible groove, building up to the climax neatly.

Mr. Slash - Firearm
Instrumental grime from one of London's biggest up and comers. I like the sound he has going on this one, but he's used it on his latest EP as well, so I hope he does something different for his next outing.

Oops, I think that'll do for quite a while.

Time to play again. It's been a year or two at least since we played this game. Everybody, do it!

Unfortunately, I don't have my music drive with me, here, so I did a search for *.mp3 on my C drive (I thought I killed my computer), found 10,217 mp3s, selected all (I thought I killed my computer again), dumped them in the winamp (yeah, I thought I killed my computer but figured it would survive since it survived the other two commands), hit the random thingy...here are the top 10:

1. Chicane - Hiding All The Stars (Michael Woods Remix)
Natasha Andreas sings in the original dance music released 2008-2009ish. I didn't even know I had purchased this.

2. Sterac - Pacifia
I downloaded this after reading that Sand Leaper had purchased Sterac - Thera (he said "pricey but worth it.") I was curious.

3. Disrupt - Riddim Grid
This is from Dub album "Foundation Bit" released in 2007. I dunno. S'okay. Jan Gleichmar has done better. I'm always so critical but when I listen to the album, track #1 - 8 or 9, it's good stuff.

4. Autechre - SonDEremawe
This is one of the tracks off the Quaristice album. I loved their Incunabula album, one of the best albums I own. Off the top of my head, I like this album but tbh, can't remember too much about any of the tracks on. Maybe it's good overall with no stand outs?

5. ??? - idea illusion
I had no idea what this was so I ran a search on "illusion." It's by Solitare Albread. I don't remember ever listening...

6. Psy-T - Paraphilia
Well, this is our own Peter Pipers (Derek). He's done better. This is kind of a smoggy jibberish.

7. Om - Peace of Mind
Tetsu Inoue and Dennis Ferrer teamed up back in the 90s ("Om") and created some of the best trance imaginable. Peace of Mind definitely rates. On the same CD, Seed of Sound and Wheels of Light. Here comes the Sun!

8. Karen Busck - Flyd Fra Mine Lber
Karen's a Danish singer. This is one of the tracks on album she released back when I started at Stanford. "Touch of home" you could say.

9. Michael Peters - Malfunction For Jazz-Rock Automata
Jan introduced Michael Peters to me in his recently deleted blog. I love alot of Michael Peters' stuff. This, I don't really remember.

10. Planewalker - Delta Waves
Friend introduced my sisters and I to the Planewalker. He's kind of psy trancy, if I recollect correctly.

Hm. It's been nearly five years since I lasted post in this. Heck, my obsession with Neil Young had yet to even occur, and now I have more of his albums than any other artist's. Let's fire the Randomizer once more, and see if we get more quirky results.

1.Ice Cube - War & Peace
This was about the point everyone said Cube was falling off. Definitely sounds over-produced compared to his early work. And what's with that chorus? Dude, do you really want to be style-biting from No Doubt at this point?

2. Paul van Dyk - Step Right On!
Ooolllddd school Dyk here. Or is it? Apparently only appears on the '98 re-release of 45 RPM. Maybe was a b-side or something. I don't really care about Mr. Paul's career to find out. Tune's nice enough tho'.

3. Enigma - The Piano
Latter era Enigma; yes, there is a difference. The production feels much looser and less New Agey. Kind of on a William Orbit tip here. Oh, and there's a piano too. Shocker, I know.

4. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Born On The Bayou
Like I really need to describe this one. Just turn on your Classic Rock station and you'll end up hearing it within an hour or two. Or something that sounds similar anyway. Makes me want to go to a blues festival.

5. Peace Division - On The Bandwagon
It's tech-house, of the more proggy-tribal kind that was popular ten years ago. Mind, it's still popular today, but I think most DJs play this stuff 5 BPM slower now. It's a short part of a mix though, so not much to comment on here.

6. Dogon - Locus Voci (Live)
Experimental ambient noodling. An ominous tone permeates the mood. It's more musically inclined than, say, SAW2, at times coming close to sounding like the Terminator Theme. It's fine for this sort of thing.

7. Ol' Dirty Bastard - Intro
His first album was all over the place, in a good way. As if to clue the the listener into what you're in for, this intro rambles on a whole bunch, as if ODB's going on a stage to recite a dirty poem before... whoo! Shaolin Style!

8. Gang Starr featuring Nice & Smooth- DWYCK
More hip-hop, eh? Gang Starr never quite reached the levels of popularity other Golden Era groups did, but damn if this ain't some funky-fresh shiii...

9. BT - Dreaming (Lucid Dub)
First Dyk, now BT? Is this somehow System-J's computer? Ah heh, well, I have to admit his continual praise for the early works of those two over at TC did convince me to properly check them out. I'm sure everyone knows the tune, but, save a few snippets, this one's without the vocals. I like it 100% more.

10. Monosphere - Elysian Fields
Mid-90s psy trance. There's spacey acid, chugging beats, and an ethnic sample... rather typical of the sound from that time, to be honest. It showed up on a couple compilations, but never made much of an impact.

A decent assortment of tracks there. And no, I won't try to make a Random MixTape out of them.

Posted by Sand Leaper on Sep-11-2011 11:28:

Four years, huh? Got time to kill after an awful night out yesterday, so time to give this a whirl again.

Quasimoto - Astronaut
"Yeah, we been out there in orbit..." Perfect track to kick this off on a lazy sunday. A typical sampledelic Madlib-track and smoked out lyrics from Madlib's high-pitched alter ego.

D1 - Foundation
A track off Dwayne Marsh's rather tasty double 12" V1. This is probably the least remarkable tune on it, though. Punchy and well-produced, but the melodies are a bit too simple for my liking. D1 had also made so many halfsteppy tunes already by the time this came out.

Progressive Transe - Danker
Whoa, talk about change of pace. Loren X pops up with another one of his belting acidic trancers, setting up an insanely minimal and frenetic pace, coupled with 303s oscillating their guts out. They definitely don't make 'em like this anymore.

Derek Carr - FCG (Arne Weinberg Remix #1)
Very ambient offering from Arne Weinberg here. I like the percussion, but the rest of the track is a bit too fluffy and doesn't really develop all that much of an impact.

ANS - Dungeon
Sledgehammer dubstep with humongous-sounding drums. Think this is from my time on Dubstepforum back in 2006-7. Again, this kind of halfsteppy track is tough to listen to now after being so rinsed out, but apart from the strange vocal samples, this gets the job done.

Air Liquide - Liquid Men With Liquid Hearts
Ahhh. More old and wonderfully subtle trance from one of my alltime favourite techno outfits. This tune is so deliciously stripped down, using almost nothing but 808 and 303, which is exactly how I like it.

So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds
THE UK Garage uberhit from 2001, which made every inner city kid in London write bars in their notepad during class. Think I still like Scat D's verse the most. The contrast between the stupidly high budget video and the ridiculously low budget production on the beat for this tune never ceases to amaze me.

Convextion - Spice Tea
Bouncy, jacking and groovy techno track with all your favourite dancefloor tricks: short, snappy snare hits, low-pass filtered synths, rolling percussion, the lot. It's a bit long, and doesn't score any points for originality, but it will still make you dance your ass off.

Human Resource - Dominator (Program 2 Remix)
It's Dominator. What else is there to say? This breakbeat take on it still holds up very well, even though it was made in '91.

Sequential - The Mission (Live From The Outer Zone)
Ah, some classic ambient. Space transmission samples, dolphins, breathy female whispering, lush reverbed pads...lovely. Good and soothing way to end this round.
