Without a doubt one of the WORST trance experiences I ever had. I don't know how you guys deal with listening to great DJ's like Armin at places like Plush. The sound was absolutely awful. I've been to so many different venues in various cities but the sound at Plush was definitely the worst I've ever heard. The bouncers were assholes, the crowd was even worse...very pushy, people never said excuse me and all the tall, fat people just hogged the front area. Waiting for 20 minutes in line for absolutely no reason is just plain stupid. I hope people enjoyed Sasha because I definitely wish I chose that instead of this event. I understand it's also Vancouver and weed is so prominent but the stench was also unbearable.

Oh, lastly Armin was supposed to get on by 11:15 and got on at like 11:45ish...I can't imagine how pissed I'd be if I ended up paying $100/ticket.

haha .. welcome to TRANCE in Vancouver.

I'm from Ontario bro, and belive me - I MISS TORONTO heavily.
Trance promoters here are mostly greedy whores and duche bags.

I went to SASHA @ Celebrities for a REASON
I'm sick and tired of the bullshit.

Armin was amazing!

I thought it was a brilliant night overall. Sure, some buzz killers were the long lines to get in and coat check but the reason I was there, TO EXPERIENCE ARMIN, was fabulous. He has such a great way of interacting with the crowd and the tunes were unreal. Not to mention he's hot. My sister and I were stoked that he played "Black is the Colour".

I don't really understand why people would come on here and complain about not being able to get to the front because of tall and fat people. I got there late...just as Armin got on the stage, and it was fine. Sure, there wasn't a lot of room because it was so overcrowded, but it was easy enough to get near the front if that's where you wanted to be. I couldn't care less about the people around me and what they looked like or if they were polite, I wasn't there for them. Toughin' up.

Thanks for posting the videos guys, they bring back some great memories!

P.S. krysx25-what clubs would you recommend personally to check out in Toronto? I'm heading there this summer and hoping to get my trance fix. I've heard a lot about Guvernment?

mmmm ..

I'm truly not the person to ask for what's "hot" in Toronto
nowadays, but if I recall the clubs from my younger years were
always the GUV(of course), the DOCKS and TURBO.

Not at all sure what and if TURBO still plays EDM.

As for any "underground" stuff, you're better off checking
the TOTA side of TA for that.. or if you'd really like, PM
me and I'll get you some TOTA hook-ups.

PS. TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!

Also, APRIL 2007 - SEAN TYAS is coming to VICTORIA!
We'll surely catch up then ... cheers.

Too bad the sound was so unbarable in there.
I heard it was the bassiest and loudest since ever.

Total ASOT tracklist eh?

All in all, looked fun, cool vid. cheers.

Glad you guys enjoyed it. I didn't want to go to the front this time (i value unbroken bones and my hearing) so photos were useless (weak flash). I used NeroVision or something. Windows movie maker wasn't working too well.

I agree, the trance scene in Vancouver is shit. But you know, we deal with what we've got. There is nothing that we can do about it other than start our own promoting company or club (fat chance). I can deal with poor sound, lighting and overcrowding, just to see AvB.

and that's exactly what they're counting on. Your ignorance
of unpleasant factors to outweight the benefits of experiancing your idol.

It is only in unity that things will change.

A rebellion must be formed. A revolution must unwind.

I don't think Kraig or Twisted really cares what we think.. what.. we're a maximum of 20 ppl probably... and if we say "we won't show up to your shows if they are @ plush" ... they won't give a shit.. everyone else will.. so basically you're complaining for no reason because nobody will listen to you... at least that's how i see it

Posted by apri_peel on Jan-02-2007 00:28:

the sound at plush has always been bunk

problem with armin, who makes it even worse, is that he likes to crank it all the way up and i guess the limiters on the soundboard are shitty or just don't do the job well so that fcks up the main sound

if the volume is set to normal, it's actually pretty decent, but i guess DJs and sound techs feel like they need to turn it all the way up as if people are deaf and can't hear

even with earplugs, sound at plush is deafening and feels like sand paper against ear drums.

now sound at celebrities is amazing! you can stand right in the front with the headliner going all nuts and it won't even hurt your ears.

oh and bouncers at plush have always been assholes too.

always the same people bitching over and over again... honestly, why don't you stop showing up?

anybody know if Twisted has some sort of contract with AvB so that only they can bring him to Vancouver? If not, we should band together and bring him here ourselves.

He's under contract bro, they all are. Don't be fooled, they
care not of the quality a club. They gig around the world to
pay for more production gear and such ...

As for "banding together", its been a dream of mine since
ever, but - this is Vancouver ... it's different out here.
I say "different" cause I hate to go on another rant of
what the fuck is wrong with YOU PEOPLE !!! UGH!!!

.....

Being a starving student, no I don't. I do, however, believe I can do anything I set out to do (not inspirational garbage, but maybe I've been affected by it). So I believe that I can find that money somehow, and in a legitimate and professional manner. Certainly being a business student gives me some credibility in this area due to what I've learned through classes and first hand experience.

Krysx

Is Victoria the only BC stop Tyas is making in 2007, or will Vancouver get another chance to hear this DJ?

Loren

Loren, I think I met you @ Tie$to back last year ..?

To answer your inquiry, Mr.Tyas's current schedual only
includes Victoria BC. However this can change at any
time pending proper arrangements with local promoters.

hmmm .. Naz-a-paloooza #2?

Tyas @ Celebrites? It is very possible.
I'll speak with Naz and we'll see what and if anything can be done.

that was his booking fee maybe a couple of years ago
its definately more than that now
dont forget airfare (first class), hotel (4+ stars), food, this that and you're looking at so much money, even being a very determined business student you will probably not be able to pull this off

oh and if you're thinking of a place like the pne, you'll need even more money

so, really, twisted and solid are pretty much the only two companies in the city that can actually afford to bring in DJs of armin's caliber

Posted by ktracid on Jan-02-2007 04:57:

I didn't bitch over and over again.. I guess i am the only one saying that Plush sucks around here soundwise right? Like I said.. nobody will listen to us.. and you guys can't afford commodore most likely so.. hey.. "let's do it at some club with shitty sound.. it will still sell out so who cares" ... I scalp tickets for your shows and get in for free anyways... I would not have paid even $40 to hear the extra loud bass even with earplugs on. eh.. whatever.. promoters don't care

+1 for Plush being overall a shitty place.

I went there a few weeks ago for Bassnectar. It was a really interesting crowd, Burning Man kinda feel. Anyway, everyone was having huge fun, a bit too much for security liking so they decided to secure the front stage area a little bit better. Lorin noticed it and went on the mic and told the security to go away. That why I respect the man that much.

As long as Plush shows going to sell out like that (or actually oversell) they're going to stay there. Why fix something that's not broken (from the monetary standpoint)?

Yes indeed sir, I must eloquently affirm your statement.

Let it be known of this day that Plush is officially a "shitty place".

Venue top 5:

1) Commodore
2) Celebrities
3) Lotus
4) Red Room
5) Gecko

eh?

trust me when I say this, we have looked into the commodore and cost is not an issue.

What would be the issue then, sir?

Posted by apri_peel on Jan-02-2007 07:14:

commodore is pretty much the only club in the city that can match the capacity of plush

and i might be wrong but commodore may still be wary of the EDM crowd, it was a good year or so after a stabbing at a house event that commodore allowed any other EDM events in

so if you take that factor into consideration, given that it is the reason, then plush is the best place to bring big DJs to and not much can be done because i highly doubt club owners give a damn what the people have to say and promoters probably can't do a whole lot about that

Posted by ktracid on Jan-02-2007 07:16:

a post from twisted would be nice.. about this whole situation.. if they care that is.. i'm wondering what they think of plush

Posted by krysx25 on Jan-02-2007 07:24:

haha .. given that perhaps only 20 people will attend their
event from this forum ...

don't hold your breath, I think the Kraigster just
comes out and makes an event thread and that's about it ..

who knows, I donno .. I'm not in the "clique" ..

c'mon cliquey people .. spill your beans ...
