I know, I never said He didn't.

If i recall correctly, he became #1 in 2002 because of the music he played in 2001 and 2002.

This type of music is why he became #1 in 2002. Not because he spun big-room, no frills, tech-trance. If He would have stuck to this style, he would have still remained #1 in my view.

But to understand that, you have to realise that up until this year, the Tiesto you were listening to, was the former shadow of himself, not the OMG.. He has always and will forever be trance. No. He was not, and no he won't be. Hard to stomach? Well tough.

Well, I have almost every set that has been released on him, and 80% of all the tracks have been trance. WOuld you like me to post all the sets I have, so you can see I know wwhat I am talking about.

Again, he won that spot when he was playing all the various sytles. The only difference is that the track slection back then was better and more original then the stuff he spins now. Listen and compares both sets:

Guys, i've always been curious about this:

How is Tiesto's set @ sensation 2000 regarded here?
it features a lot of the tracks from the Samfundet set.

It's one of my favourite set's ever. especially the trackselection. it is all over the place but constructed in such a way that it doesn't hurt the set.

there are two big "mistakes" somewhere during the viola mix he either bumps his table or hits his pitch button or something.

and the horrid transition between yahel-voyage and timo maas-ubik/the dance has to be heard to be believed. I still to this day, do not know what that sound is(an effect?), and why the hell he thought it was a good idea.

discuss...

So far the only official info comes from the London concert on april 20th:

taken from tiesto.com
"VIP Tickets 45: fast track entry, free 'Elements of Life' CD, free drink at VIP bar, exclusive VIP chill out lounge with private bar free ENTRY! into draw for a chance to mingle backstage with Tiesto"

So I guess the album will be released before that date, and the name of the album is confirmed.

more info from tiesto.com
quote:

In March 2007, Tisto will release his third artist album called Elements of Life.
To support this new release, Tisto will perform in every major city on earth in the Elements Of Life world tour. The tour will consist of unique events comparable to the highly successful Tisto In Concert shows. While the Tisto In Concert shows were recognized as state-of-the-art, the events comprising the Elements of Life world tour will be something never before witnessed: utterly mind-blowing experiences!
The concept features the four elements of life: Air, Water, Earth and Fire. Each of these elements will be seamlessly integrated within the shows in order to create an unforgettable and highly unique experience.

Tisto is a world DJing phenomenon like no other. He has revolutionized the common perception of a DJs role. His shelves groan under the weight of countless awards, he has been knighted by the queen of Holland, he has his own sneaker line and a wax statue in Madame Tussauds. Its not surprising that he is titled as the most popular DJ on the planet.

Tistos performance for more than 70.000 people during the Parade of Athletes at the Opening Ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games was televised worldwide and viewed by billions of people making him a household name.

Elements of Life sees him taking dance music where no other DJ/producer has dared to go.
Kings Hall, Belfast. March 31st 2007. Come witness the future of electronica.

the album will probably be released near march 16, when a "special" event will take place:
quote:

Exclusive Tisto event sold out!
Last Saturday, the ticket sales for a very exclusive Tisto event started.
A very limited amount of tickets for this evening were available only through tiesto.com. Within a few hours after the sales started, this unique event already got sold out!

March 16th, Tisto will perform at a unique and secret location somewhere in the Netherlands for a very special occasion. During this unique event Tisto will perform a DJ-set in which he will be supported by acts specially selected for this occasion. This will be the first time for people to witness a new Tisto experience.

More details including the location of the event will be published close to the event.

btw, i really hope Elements of Life has nothing to do with Dance for Life

christ that first paragraph makes me cringe

Posted by jupiterone on Feb-21-2007 21:48:

He really has turned himself into a God amongst men, from the looks of it, he believes he's really revolutionized dance music. I still have yet to really see that...Sure he drags more fans but revolutionized...no, just because he has received awards doesn't make him better...Popularity plays a role, he's become popular because thats what everyone seems to hear first when they stepped into this genre.

I generally like Tiesto, and I stand by my statement that he's introduced me to a ton of artists and tracks that I might not have otherwise discovered. But, to read this:

I don't think there is anything wrong with being proud of your successes (and some of your failures, even) in life, but damn.

I can understand people's dilemna at that paragraph. However. Reading the first sentence as one continuous line, instead of stopping at the word REVOLUTIONISED...

They are talking more about the way the average joe now perceives a DJ. The fact that these kind of gimps flock to Tiesto events to see "whats its about"... the list of achievements they rattle off are just some of the more pointless marketing tools in the Prime Time arsenal...

Proving that potentially, now, any DJ with popularity can make this kind of hmm how to say, sacrifices to their career, by setting up such links to things so bloody commercial its painful to watch.

That is kind of changing the perception of the DJ. As the role changes from simply playing records, or entertaining to being some kind of company behind the man, driving the marketing side of things.

Did other DJs do that before Tiesto? Have a whole line of management who pumped the public full of this stuff?

No.

Does that mean it revolutionised the process. Well it certainly did something to it didn't it.

Hopefully someone just read this post without thinking god, another fanboy comment again... i'm just as disheartened as everyone else at the Tiesto TM brand name going for every $ it can.
