He was blathering about winning a championship, etc. He knows he HURTS his team by staying in New York, plus his family live in Houston so he's basically away from them for the entire season anyway, regardless of whether he pitches in the Bronx or on the road.

he definitely will pitch road games. that's a given

yeah but I think a lot of people still think he only pitches at home. The stuff he got away with in Houston won't be happening in the Bronx.

At the very least, Clemens can serve as a good shot in the arm to the Yankees' pitching staff. They've played well the last two series and I really do think they'll be in the thick of things come late summer.

Nah, he pitched on the road in Houston, too. I just forgot how that worked, but it's the same arrangement.

I thought for one season he really didn't pitch on the road?

Well no matter. I for one am glad he's back and I bet many Red Sox fans are a little miffed today.

Clemens isn't a savior but he's 3.3 trillion times better than Kei Icrapwa err I mean Igawa. Or Rasner. Or Karstens. I would be ecstatic if Clemens provided 5 more wins to the team vs. the guy he's replacing. That could easily be the difference in making the playoffs or not. Secondly, that's a guy you'd want pitching in a game 7 vs. Kevin Brown or Javier Vasquez whom the Yanks ran out there against the Red Sux in 2004. That's his biggest value. There is risk with his age of course but obviously money isn't something the Yanks are too concerned about.

Wang, Clemens, Pettitte, Moose, Hughes. I'm feeling that June rotation.

exactly. If that rotation can stay healthy, it'll easily be good enough to get the Yankees into contention at the very least.

Things have suddenly gone from bad to worse for the Blue Jays
First losing BJ Ryan to TJ surgery, and now Roy Halladay has appendicitis and will miss 4-6 weeks

yes baseball needs to clean up their steroids mess, but i believe there is a bigger mess in baseball right now, and that's the Tommy John surgery epidemic. a lot of good pitchers have had to to get this. if you throw a hard fastball, and that's the only pitch you have, history will say you won't last 2 years in the mlb before having tommy john or any other type of elbow/shoulder ailment surgery that will put you out for at least 6 months.

I love Ozzie Guillen when he loses his cool

well goddamn! Third week of May and 11 games out. This team just isn't worth of comparisons to the 1978 Yankees. I don't see much of a wild card run either but you never know. I officially do not expect the Yankees to make the post season as of this weekend.

really?

hmm, maybe if another team in the AL East was actually doing anything besides the sox, but they're not..... 2-5 in the East is a crapshoot!

Posted by verndogs on May-26-2007 06:53:

so the hottest MLB rivalry right now to join along the yankees - red sox, dodgers - giants, cubs - cardinals is the

phillies - marlins rivalry?!

Posted by shaw on May-26-2007 18:00:

I didn't get that memo.

Also, add braves-mets.

you add a self proclaimed phillies hater (scott olsen), an extra tense series, shouting matches, a near brawl

and it's apparently war

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/b...ory/118139.html

yeah...so random

Posted by shaw on May-26-2007 18:38:

well, if it can overtake sawx yanks, I'm all for it, but I'll grow a third leg before I care about the marlins and phillies.

i'd add astros-braves to that list too

braves kept knocking out the astros in the late 90s in the division series

astros returned the favor in the division series in 04 and 05
braves knocked the astros out of the NL Central Race on the last day of the season this past season

Posted by shaw on May-26-2007 18:57:

yeah, but there's no real rivalry. On the other hand, ever since John Rocker, the Braves & Mets have had something between them.

Posted by King Ecnal on Jun-01-2007 22:23:

LOL

Carlos Zambrano LOST IT TODAY!!!

he tried to SLAP the shit out of Michael Barrett in the cubs dugout today... cause there was a wild pitch, then an overthrow on a steal attempt... a bunch of SHENNANIGANZZZZZZ

LOL @ the cubbies!!!

Posted by partyhopper on Jun-07-2007 15:47:

Will anyone be watching the draft, which will be televised today on ESPN2 ?

Posted by partyhopper on Jun-07-2007 21:49:

Curt Schilling had a no-hitter going into the 9th, but it was broken up with 1 out left.
