Blank & Jones really impressed me..lately trance has been boring me but they kept me happily entertained. The surprise/highlight of the night for me was the Scumfrog. Quite impressed by this guy!!! It was good bumping into a lot of TA's and meeting some new one I haven't met before |

re post, my bad
soo many good things happened last night that it woudl take a long time to write a proper review.
ill start by saying thanks to tyler for setting up the pre meet and getting the djs to come meet us. lots of respect for you bro.
kenneth's set was a perfect warmup for talla. gj man.
talla's set just blew me away. i saw him last time at viva on NYE two years ago and he was awesome then and it was the same last night. we needed some good hard beats and he delivered. definitely the best set of the night.
blank and jones were ok. this is my 4th time seeing them and they tend to play the same tracks over and over again each time they come. the tracks are great and all, but it gets repetative after awhile. its like they keep their binder of cd's in the guv and just use the same ones over and over again. but i will give them credit for having awesome crowd interation. they really know how to pump up the crowd.
rank 1 was good as always. piet really knows how to judge a crowd and what they like. u always have a different track selection while still putting on a few classics to tease us. its too bad he didnt play awakening
. o well, next time. one more thing, i loved how he came down and chatted with the people after so casually. ur a great dj and awesome person piet.
great to see all the regulars out and being there with my friends.
here are some pics, and the vids will be up shortly.

max graham was fantastic. he just kept bringing it. tune after tune and the party didnt stop. the WHOLE mainroom was still going off time and time again well after 7:00am. awesome!

Fuck.
Pretty frustrating night for me. I got there with my friends Kelly & Jenny as well as Krissy and Kat, and the place wasn't open yet at 10:30... It's safe to assume that those ******s were delaying it so that there wouldn't be much time left until 11, which was when the price went up. ****s. After being successfully admitted I had to leave and join the line at the back again, because my friend Jenny got denied, because of her misspelling of her faulty ID's last name. haha. I was pretty worried, but I didn't want to leave with them... NOTHING was stopping me from seeing my estranged wife
I told them women to go home...and that I'm staying. They didn't look too upset, but I felt like an ass after.. As far as spending time with friends and catching up with some others goes, it was a good night. It was next to impossible to try to venture through the Guv to find people, and with my cell phone going wacky, I could barely get a hold of anyone, which didn't lighten the situation either. I stayed in the Guv for most of the night regretfully. I thought I was mentally and physically prepared for the catastrophic situation that was to come, but unfortunately I was not. I was unsatisfied at the end of the night, because my feet felt and knew that there was definately a lack of dancing last night...managed to stay until sometime passed 8.
The tunes were not lacking at all. Managed to check out the Gallery at the beginning for some Tim Patrick, who surprisingly was playing nothing like I'm used to hearing from him. His usual Toibar sets are pretty minimalistic, but last night's set was basically a tech-house stormer. Although the tracks he dropped were quite nice, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed. I wasn't feeling the flow it, but it was extremely fun and entertaining to rape the pillars and cause trouble with some clown antics like the old times.
Made it in time to catch my wife Sander Kleinenberg setting up and getting ready. I could hardly contain myself
I honestly can't remember a time where the Guv was THAT packed. It was expected but I couldn't find a safe spot. There were some great moments close to front row center, but I couldn't get my electrosexuality in order, until the very last half hour, where the clowns had a mini reunion off to the right of the deejay booth. Thankfully this area had a moderate amount of space for dancing, so this was the highlight of my night. He just kept dropping tunes. Delicious morsels! *drools* Although Sander's my favourite deejay, I had pretty high standards, and he pleased me, oh yes! He dropped, I came.
I don't remember hearing ANY cheesy tracks except for less than a handful which I wouldn't consider too bad (He dropped a nice mix of 8 letters, 3 words.) Can't remember any IDs but I did hear alot of newer stuff. He kept the old-overplayed-sander recycled-tunes to a minimum. The set was a nice cross between progressive electro and bumping house with a taste of funkiness. This is why we're married <3 . Didn't pay attention at all to the dvd-j screens, but his mixing was flawless. The awesome track just kept coming, especially from 3:00 - 3:30. I heard a track I couldn't stop screaming to, because it sounded like something new from Bodyrox. Easily set of the night, and also the 2nd best I've heard from Sander....it's just a shame that I couldn't dance it up properly because of the heat/crowd. Managed to get a wedding photo with him too. bwahahaha. Fuck yes.
By the time Max came on, the place had cleared up by alot. Still, I decided to pay a visit to the KH to be able to breathe better, and see if I still had the trance grooves (no pun intended Tyler, lol) in me. Always a weird transition coming from the Guv to KH, house to trance. Blank & Jones were on, and they were playing a very typical set from what I heard. Is it me, or do they recycle the same set every year with the same tunes all over again, some of which played in the same order? I had a few euphoric moments (was really hard to keep the hands down), but my feet couldn't get into it....and that's when I realized that I had almost permanently lost it. I could no longer dance to it and I even questioned HOW to dance to it. lol. As I made it to the front to bust it with some TAs it suddenly came back to me like a memory...and the old tranced out Cribblets paid a visit to the floor...but how can he not, when Communication was played <3 Lots of classics, but like I said, very predictable. Nothing new on the table.
Caught a bit of Rank 1, but wasn't feeling the tech trance at all...so I left with the Jax, but halted, to go mental to Cara Dillon Vs. 2Devine - Black Is The Colour (Coco And Green Remix)
Made it back into the Guv around 5:20ish where I wasn't feeling Max Graham at all. Not sure what he was dropping before I got there, but the journey of his set was at that bloopy and wishy washy state, which is a nice listen, but felt was pretty boring. I really needed some more substance, particularly something more dancefloor friendly, since I was in dire need of dancing. When I'm not dancing, I can get pretty bitchy. This lasted for a while, and for a slight song or two it seemed like he was changing it up, but then it became bland again. Did have a nice moment gliding my limbs to Coldplay - Talk (Max Graham Remix). They closed The Drink and this clown started to frown. From 7:30 - closing is when I really enjoyed his set. I already had my jacket on at this time as I was planning to leave, but found myself dancing in it for a good hour or so. Max decided to leave the best for last (I didn't catch the first few hours of his set so someone please fill me in). Good ol dancier prog. Lots of leg swaggering going on at this moment...especially when he mixed in a track (forgot which) with Daft Punk's Around The World. If he played My Washing Machine I'll kill myself... So...lots of ups and downs from Max Graham. Wasn't in the right mood to enjoy his more deeper stuff and I thought the programming was a bit botched, but it had it moments. Also, OVED hearing Olive - You're Not Alone
Ok...now that I've had another chance to think the night over, it really wasn't that bad. Don't think I'll be venturing back into the Guv soon though...it's just not my kind of venue, and I hate missioning to find everyone (Sorry Shaya
). Thx to everyone who wished me a belated bday. Awesome seeing my favourite peoples, as well as those I haven't seen in AGES (the trance crew in particular.) Some of you I didn't really see at all (Sashinha, Jamie
). Very nice to meet Smuncky and a few others as well. My biggest regret of the night is missing out on Talla2XLC. This is one of the first trance acts that got me into the music when I was a teen, and I heard nothing but good things :/ Until next time...Decadence? Possibly.

That wasn't as bad as the 'Scarf Cirle' between me, Kelly and Jenny, or when I humped Peter Sketchbag's leg while having a homoerotic contest with George (Fuertez/Grumpy Clown) LOL. Lots of sketchiness actually...but the funniest was when I first saw Peter and gave him a hug, my camera went flying, and probably hit someone! LOL. <3

Yeah I got to this event with my buddy at around 12 or so..by that time they had jacked the price up 25 bucks which was kinda ridiculous.
I spent the majority of the time in the main room, which had a more than usual trendy crowd and more girls too...I can't complain. But yes it was a sardine can. I'm a huge prog head, so I caught the latter part of MO's set (Pryda- I can't remember, awesome song) and all of sander's...it was a "decent" set. I thought there were some plodding parts, and he didn't raise the energy too much after MO, except near the last half hour, where everyone first heard a song with floaty type of breakdown which I really loved as it provided a much needed break, and FINALLY started playing more aggressively.
I thought the DVDJ stuff was put to good use at times ( the imagery of the guy in the mohawk, saying how he wanted to go home alone was good)but near the end Sander got lazy with it and the same images repeated, but the music did get better.
I managed to meet him, and he signed my GU Nubreed. I headed over to the Kool Haus to catch some of Blank and Jones, and i gotta say they were playing really well and looked totally up for it. It was around 4 though and I left home.
It was a decent event, sorta unorganized because they ppl move through the Orange Room. I didn't think the sex pistols remix played by sander was anything great, hit or miss most of the time but fun nonetheless.

FUCKEN EH!! playing their remix of Mr. Brightside brought me right back to Ultra Spin 9 last year. I couldn't believe I was hearing it again! Thanks sooo much! Too many great tracks to list. I'm the biggest trainspotter of all... I need to bring a pad of paper next time to keep track of everything! Rank 1. Seen Piet about 5 times now... as this was by far the BEST I've heard him play! Not a single ounce of cheese, rockin beats and really left me wanting MORE by the end!!!! Again, way too many great tracks running through my head at once. Piet, thanks for a wikkid night!!!! OK, sleepytime. |
