You are surrounded by those you surround yourself with.

I'm not saying that I didn't know a few degenerates that at 20 years old still tortured little animals, and one genuine psychopath, but who you choose to associate with is your business. If you're stuck in a fireteam with an asshole, that sucks, but at the mess we're just that - fireteam partners, not friends. I'll trust you to cover my ass and you trust me not to plug you in the back of the head. That's how it works. When the weapons are in bed and it's drinking time, I choose who I associate with.

You think all cop partners get along?

People who join the military are just like everyday people you meet on the streets. Some are good, some are bad. Just like the rest of the society.
Just because they wear an uniform, that does not mean they all fit some sort of stereotype of a soldier.

/end hijack

Boys do. Men don't.

I can't defend this any further because *I*'m not in the military myself. I'll link him to this thread (he's on TA but rarely posts), and if he chooses, he can explain further. I'm just passing along what he was telling me earlier on the subject.

More's the pity.

I fancied myself a gentleman soldier, what I thought to be the ideal of a Canadian soldier, the type of soldier that was worthy to wear my unit's insignia and tartan, and honour the history and sacrifice of those who had worn it before me.

And most boys don't become men until they are 40.

I disagree, I just think that after 40 years they've become experts at pretending...

As a self-professed nice-guy (someone second that please) and former soldier, I take exception to the inference that we are degenerates. Sometimes people join the military because of familt tradition, to help people (medics, DART teams, SAR techs), to get a trade or because there aren't many other option open to them. A lot of guys who play sports are genuinely nice guys (especially true of rugby players, I hear) and a lot of frat boys...okay, you can have that one.

I won't even go into your skewed view of women...but I will ask how old you are. I'm guessing 22 or under, based on attitude. You'll grow up eventually.

The problem I think most guys who develop this attitude have is that they want the 'it' girl. Guess what, we all do. That alone doesn't make her a good person and sure as hell doesn't make her useful at relationships, because she is so used to being adored that if you don't fit into the second category this thread started with than she'll move on to someone who will kiss her ass. Just as girls realize that the bad boy is just that - bad, boys come to realize a thing or two as well...IMO

I'm 15 and I'm hung like a mosquito

I've taken criminology courses in university and it is a proven fact that male dominated groups can *sometimes* impact each other negatively. The same could be said for broads too

I totally agree.

I would say no because all I get at the rippers is blue balls and an empty wallet.

I don't mind going once in a while, but seriously...if this is your after work hangout you need a life. Besides (and I can't believe I'm going to say this)all the rippers does to a growing boys' mind is create unrealistic ideals of the female body, so you can't date anybody but the 'it' girl, the others don't get you off.

It's like someone who learned about sex from watching porn. Believe it or not, not all women like to be throat-fucked until they cry.

Wierd...

lmao +1

sorry chris, i'll have to completely disagree with you on this one. there are tons of beautiful women in toronto (esp where i live near yonge/eg). everyday, beautiful women everywehre! and it's not that hard meeting them either, just know how to maintain eye contact, smile and maintain positive energy and you'll go along ways my friend!

Depends on the context, for me at least. Positive energy isn't an issue usually (at least nowadays) as for smiling, I have to have a buzz going as I can't smile on command, unless I'm laughing or something. A "in the moment" type of smile I guess? lol I get the "you should smile more" comment a lot.
