That 3 hour set from justmusic fm is insane. Can't wait till he comes to Toronto. He was supposed to be here in July but he didn;t show up for some reason.

Speaking on playing in Toronto ... I forgot to give my report from the 25th of October.

So after the initial excitement subsided, the facts were: Desyn was playing at a midtown club in Toronto, meaning: more chic, less dance. Kahlua must have done their research and hired a group of professional dancers (and I'm not just defending my poor moves here :P) to motivate the crowd. It worked. Desyn started out with a couple of tracks that teetered towards tech, but eased his way into the uplifting style of house we all know him for. Lots of strings, sax funky basslines, and huge vocal teases. People were def moving by the end. I even have a pic of some 70 year old guy shaking his wrinkles!

There was a guy doing live visualizations - which was like having Milk Drop play with topical video clips super imposed on top. And there was a girl doing a small circus performance for part of the night. Good times. And all free!

I didn't hear about this event until after the fact. It mentioned being a night for the nightclub industry. Did you need special ID or tickets to get in??

Nope, you just walked up, whipped out your ID and they let you in. Even gave out some free glasses of Kahlua. I came prepared with guestlist, but they never even checked. I asked Desyn if he had plans to play a proper gig in Toronto soon, and he said he didn't know of anything in the books

Why didn't you tell me about this gig bro?

At least you had fun. I'm hoping he comes back sometime soon.

it's soooooooo good. in fact i think it's so good that i don't think i've heard a set from him since then that tops it.

man, just listening to it yesterday brought back so many memories of how obsessed i used to be with some of those tunes - Take Me Away, We Interrupt This Program, Aftermath (lol), In My Heart, etc.

Posted by bobonoho on Nov-05-2007 23:01:

now that the collective agency website is defunct, how are you all finding upcoming desyn gigs? I know this is the tracklist archive and whatnot, but cmon.. wheres the man gonna be?

Posted by Bouma-Bros on Nov-06-2007 05:42:

From Sultan's newsletter (yesterday):

Check out now the latest podcast featuring a live set from Sultan at Caf Del Mar in Singapore and an exceptional mix from Desyn Masiello recorded at the Picnik Electronic in Montreal.

Anyone found this one yet?

saaaaaame here! Only I think that his set from Budapest the following year is equally massive, just a different vibe.

I still get goosebumps to In My Heart

It's Desyn AND Sultan. And I'm totally driving to Montreal to see them. There's no adjectives that will sufficiently describe the amazingness of that show.
