just repeating what two of my friends felt about that venue. said the hangers were unbearably hot (like no heat in any subsquent ones has ever matched), and that the entire festival wasnt up to par....

anyways, even if i would have felt as such had i been there, i understnad why. i think they lost hteir planned venue within a few weeks of the festival and had to quickly procure another venue in another town, ended up being tweed. completely understandable... gosh... a week or less or more to re-do everythign? FACK... i cant even imagine.


but yeah, ill bet id have enjoyed it anyways myself... i love the lawlessness of wemf... the randomness, whatever the package, however it comes out each year, i love it for what it is that year

Though I heard somewhere (maybe on the offical site? cant recall) that i think all the stages (save for maybe one, though in anycase, i dont think it woudl be the 4x4 regardless) are in bdlgs, hangars, etc.



Totally, after last yr i felt spoilt and want outside stages... NOTHING beat the sun rising Sunday morning after 6am and still being outside in teh grassy/sandy field dancing up a storm still.
FACK.

I will forever treasure that memory.

True, cant say I wasnt disappointed to hear that confirmed as well (just as I was when Henry Cullen (D.A.V.E. The Drummer) told me he wasnt gonna be there this year either... a recent WEMF tradition (DAVE + Liberator) now gonna absent this year! ), but I expected it. That's the way it normally is... (and it is easier deal with noise this way, no doubt, which is always an issue for them).

So G Boy, we gonna be doing some drinking together this coming WEMF then... I hope so... its been along time since our crews have merged and interacted.

Booze at WEMF? Lol, no thanks. Last year I didn't have a sip of alcohol. Drugs, drugs, drugs.

I kinda like the indoors idea. That's one of the things that bugged me about tweed, hlafway thorugh the night by lungs were so full of dirt and sand I couldn't go any longer. But LOVED Oragnville and Wasaga. Gotta admit, that dancing in the rain to MISS ANNE SAVAGE was pretty fuckin sweet.

Either way, indoors, outdoors, I am sooooo geared up for WEMF!!!

After Pride this wkend in Toront, I'm INFINITELY even MORE pumped for WEMF now.

Bright it on, bitches, I'm in FULL WEMF mode as of today.

Cannot wait. This next month is gonna go wayyyyyyyyyy to slowly for me now. Ugh.


WEMF, bring it.

The "hangers" that they're talking about are an indoor tennis club and a building that used to house a gymnastics club.

I truly cannot see this event going over well as the venue is more or less in the middle of town. It is technically on the edge of town but it is surround by residential area and the main business strip of the city. Anything you could possibly need is within a 10 minute walk from the centre of the venue (a large mall, grocery stores, canadian tire, sears, zellers, all fast food places etc etc.) It's right at the end of the main drag that supports a city of 50,000+ plus so do the math.

REALLY... wow. At the end of pride me and Blackness ran into Rebecca and Kelly who are from St Kits. and they were SHOCKED AS HELL when we told them WEMF would be in there area, Welland.

THey asked where, all we could say (being drunk and not having a map or knowing the area) was that it was at the "Fairgrounds" that was around that area.

Kelly said it was like practically near where she lived, close close drive... she lives in teh sticks from that are. She said that area woudl be perfect...

but I guess she was drunk so u gotta take that into account, and we're just assuming the area she assumed it was was the area where it actually is, based on our telling her "the fairgrounds"

is there any place arfound there she could prolly maybe be mistaking confusing it with?

i am saddened. i was so happy when they thought the location woudl be ok, ie. not too close to houses that would cause trouble.

Jem, I'm from welland. You got the location right, its at the end of niagara st. Its close to the mall, boston pizza, canadian tire. The beer store is further down, 5 min drive.

There are some houses when u drive towards the city, but its not that much. If they keep the main stages inside, it shouldn't be too bad. Outside stages won't be able to run all night. I want the techno and house to be inside and keep the dnd n jungle outside!

I'm excited for donald glaude, preach, liberator, dekoze, jelo, deadmau5. This will be my 1st wemf. The welland location solde me! I'm about 10 min drive from the event, will be easy to go home n showa etc etc.

We'll see how welland turns out for such an event. I would of preferred it to be in the boons where noise would not be an issue.

If the main stage is in the fairground building, not much sound will leak out

If you have more questions bout welland, post em. Ill try to answer them over the wkend from my bbery

They are def the 'biggest name' at this year's wemf!

I'll be getting there at around 7-8pm friday. Hope i dont miss much by then.
