Juan atkins dj sets are woeful - widely recognised amongst techno lover everywhere non? He's a pioneer in the studio but as a dj any time I've seen him I've wondered why he bothers (oh yeah, probably the 10 grand or so he gets a gig).

As for laurent he is possibly one of the best thought of dj's in the scene, hardly "underrated"

I dont see how anyone could possibly put the big Detroit guys like Saunderson, Atkins, and fucking Carl Craig as 'Underated' at all!!!

Honestly, Claude Von Stroke, Seb Fontaine?!?! Claude just did last months fucking MIXMAG cd, and Seb Fontaine is HUGE...

Wow

I would also give a +1 to Kenneth Thomas, but it's not hard to see he will be climbing up (if he's not there already) right next to some of the more superstar names very shortly

His sets are mint

If you mean Klinkenberg, no. First of all, he hardly DJ's (if at all). Second, his productions are valued just right, I think. Not at all underrated.

Flashbang is Vincent De Moor, I would imagine quite a few have heard of him. Not to mention you seem to confuse producers with DJ's.

Can't wait to catch him, villalobos, thomas melchior, hawtin and vath @ cocoon on the 6th august

Now that he's getting gigs for cocoon no doubt his demand outside eastern europe will increase dramatically (in fact I think it already has)

Posted by luisjb82 on Jun-16-2007 16:20:

I have listened to some of his sets through a friend... just unbelievable.

Come to think of it, that friend manages Miguel Colmenares, not sure if he's getting many gigs in Europe, where he's at right now, but he's got the skills as well, deep & minimal get a whole new meaning with him.

really liked some of his productions...haven't heard anything he's done as a dj, though.

I love this guy. He is really good, and well by judging by the speed of his forums, he isnt too well known.

Look at the votes, Jeff Mills is not underated but the rest of the detroit legends have as much votes as NEW Progressive House DJs who have been in it for 1 or 2 years (i.e. Ozgur Can) http://www.thedjlist.com/djs/OZGUR_CAN/

And to me that's crap, Derrick May & Atkins started this stuff, they're very underated.

Looks like I do have some evidence afterall.

I think it's like this... Anyone who actually knows the history of EDM/Techno specifically, knows these guys and well respects them; also I'm sure most actual DJ's like them a lot etc. But when it comes to the average "Trance Addict, Prog Addict, even the average Techno Addict" I don't think they get much "Air Time" so to speak. I think the actual "Techno Junkies & DJs" are the only ones who give them the main credit. I don't have any proof this this one, but that's how I'm feelin' about it right now. (So for instence you'll see them in an electronic music mag because yes, they're huge legends... but everyone reading the mag probably hasn't heard them DJ or their original products. etc.) Know what I mean? hehe (I hope I'm wrong!) =)

I hope lots of people Jam 2 the Legends! (And I know tons do, but... not as much as you'd think .. I think) ;D hehe

See, I mean for instence... You have tons of very vocal Markus Schulz fans, and vocal James Holden fans, etc. but where are the Derrick May / Detroit fans? I don't see posts about Derrick May's "Amazing DJ Gig In Japan." you know what I mean?

So I think that the Internet Community <~specifically doesn't know much about Detroit Techno at all.... So i'm going to name them all as underated.

I agree with you entirely. And to add on to that list,

Theo Parrish.

on a separate list,

Dixon.
Damian Schwartz
Ewan Pearson
Sandrien from Holland

Posted by winston on Jun-17-2007 19:16:

Anyone who has heard or scene Jeff Mill's video recorded live @ Las Ramblas, Barcelona. Will definitely agree with D:Morph.

I think the internet in many ways has degrated the whole scene, by making this music available the entire meaning of the genre changes, it becomes something else. It becomes the opposite of what was intended to be

You guys, make sure the names you're posting are actual DJs, and not producers.

Posted by Paulino on Jun-25-2007 03:18:

DJ Metatron and DJ Rain

Posted by Saint John on Jun-25-2007 04:20:

DJ Jinx, DJ Midnight, pr0x, and DJ Kewlaid

Posted by nsamadi on Jun-25-2007 06:36:

Oh I forgot...actually a local DJ by the name of Kevin Shiu....when a top DJ comes into town..they personnaly ask for this guy to open up...some include Sasha, John Digweed and Tiesto...also he was hand picked by Sasha late 06 to open up for him on his Asia tour.

John Digweed called him....and quoting him..The best undiscovered DJ....and Tiesto said in Dj Mag...he was the best opening DJ for him all year.
