^^^bah! Beat me to it coxx!! Sorry I have been in the hamptons all weekend and been slow as hell updating the thread Initial post updated!

Posted by phuzzyfish12 on Aug-06-2007 14:54:

Jay and I lost our ride to Toronto for LOL and are now trying to find the CHEAPEST way there so we can still attend if not we wont be able to make it. Spent all weekend looking at planes, trains and automobiles but still don't see anything workable. Any ideas? Open cars? Anyone interested in renting a car with us and spliting the cost and drive time?

renting a car is super cheap, and as long as you tell them you are staying in the state of new york (we did that when we went to toronto in february), you wont have the extra fees. YOu can get the cheapest rental cars (like a neon) for like $19 a day (plus insurance which is like $9 a day because you HAVE to get that or you will be fucked). I rented also when I went home last weekend and got a car for 4 days for like $140. Thats cheaper than my entire flight back home (ONE way!) Look at enterprise, they are cheap. And tell them you are visiting buffalo (to account for the long miles, but not get charged for out of state fees. Also, since both of you are over 25 there will be no extra "young people" charges.

Awesome!! Do you rememeber where you saw the $19 rental?

Anyone wanna join for a road trip so I don't have to drive there and back the entire way

enterprise.com

I rented it in yuis's town, and when rob rented on our last trip it was from NJ. You can go to their website and find prices on different cars in different cities. I dont know if NYC is more expensive because I have actually looked, but if worse comes to worse, take the PATH like ONE stop outside of the city and get a car there. (if this is the case). renting cars is super cheap Plus, you can leave at like 3 pm after resting a bit and still make it back on time easily.
ps: what is wai doing for transpo?

Not sure, I guess Jay and I thought she would ride with us if she didn't want to get a plane ticket for herself. Is she going 100% or still up in the air? cause if she is going with us that makes a HUGE difference. Either way I think we are gonna check out NJ cause its like $50 a day in NYC to rent.

check facebook I woudl ask wai, she seems like she is going they way she talks about it, plus she bought her LOL ticket already

I have a ticket and plan on going but really I won't make any concrete transportation plans until I'm back in NYC...unfortunately still in limbo. Worst case scenario I fly back to the West Coast right after LoL.

For realz

Well Wai when you get better plans let us know, cause you are more then welcome to ride up with Jay and I if we rent a car.

Posted by chimera66 on Aug-06-2007 18:37:

I will figure out some apt stuff by tomorrow but what I really need is for the NHL to put an end to my limbo status. In regards to transportation, I have a $100 airline voucher that expires 9/4 so I would like to use that BUT a rode trip with you two would be fun . Anyhow I'm hoping to give you an answer sooner rather than later.

I am thinking about renting a car one way of the trip and then flying back to NYC. My biggest problem now is that if Jay and I rent a car, I am the only driver (if it is just the 2 of us). On the way that will totally be okay but the way back is gonna suck and quite frankly I just wont do it. I have done long drives like that and have hated myself for it each time. Plus I will have to go to work on tuesday and it would be nice to have some chill time instead of getting right in the car.

We are working on it....details to come as they are figured out.

Wai: Its all good wheneve you figure out your final plans. I will let you know everythhing Jay and I are doing so you can make plans also.

well since wai has a voucher, maybe she can just use it on her flight back after the party, and come up with the two of you in the car to cut costs and driving time?

PS: Mere I am flying back to newark because the prices are wayyy cheaper. fyi. I am flying back later as well, so that I can rest a bit. Last year I went to an afterparty that lasted til midafternoon, went back and got my stuff and went straight to the airport. NOT a good idea because I was retardedly tired for not getting some sort of shut eye. LOL. guarantee I was snoring on that flight back!! LOLOL I was DONEZO.

i think its a fair price. its also around $300 if you want to fly from JFK. i am definitly not driving there, like i did last year. its a long drive to/ and from Toronto, plus the gas is just too expensive now. flight is only 1.4hr

Posted by yankeeBaby on Aug-06-2007 23:47:

For one-way's I paid $176 total to newark, but couldnt find anything cheaper than $230 one way to jfk I think roundtrip is cheaper in total if you are considering it.

Edit: I HATE Toronto airport, its so flippin expensive. My thoughts: Drive to Roch/B-lo and fly from there. On Jet Blue to Roch I always pay $69 one way to go home. B-lo is probably another $10/15 extra each way.
