holy shit. You had to choose El'Mocambo! That venue is fucking garbage. I've been there once and i'll never set foot again. It was so hot in there, I'm surprised no one passed out from heat exhaustion and their stairs need to be repaired.

Guvernment

Ok, the last time I went to a multi room party was GUV 9 until I went to Scot Project last weekend.

Total meat market. Fuck. I've never been hit on in so many different CREEPY ways.

I agree, there's no space to dance - you're either being hit on or being pushed out the way.

I hate people with whistles.

nightmare:
lost in space
my head almost exploded from hearing so many fucking whistles.

Downstairs is better. This summer during the funky break parties they open the doors onto the street, they have a wooden floor which is ideal to dance on. The place is hardly ever rammed. It's got good sound, great dancers, the girls are hot...the ratio was actually 60/40 both nites I went, and the sketch factor was almost nil. It was like the old system vibe back in 01, when you'd go to a jam and feel like it was a family affair and not a bunch of n00bs there just cause they've heard "electro music is like so in man".

I been upstairs once, and the space is smaller and they usually spin hiphop there. I think that's what you are refering to. Besides, the heat is something you just have to get used to. The space itself though is good. It doubles as a dance studio during the week, and attracts quite a few people who are there just to dance, and not do drugs and the usual mess you get with most other clubs. I've been there a few times this summer, and I've never even seen people take their drinks onto the floor. Which I love. Restrict that shit to the bar, or the tables situated on the periphery and everyone can have a good time.

When did you last go there ?

proud waterspiller here

(if you wanna be safe, stay in bed)

bastard guys, you gonna end up killing my DOG ! <--- that's me, after I've been to a few TOTA dance sessions aka Slip n Slides.

I've always known there's more then just a few of you out there who do this. I'd put it as something 30% of people do. Still don't get it though.

Here's me, hopin y'all catch bird flu and croak before you spill another drink on the floor. ZING - HOW U LIKE ME NOW ??!!!

(I wish staying in bed were safe...I've got nail marks running down my back which prove otherwise)

you know what other people I hate?
CLAPPERS

Was it really that dark ? Wow...seems like a totally different venue to what I experienced when Big League Chu spun there a month or so ago.

You know what I do when I encounter that particular breed of heathen swine ???
.
.
.
.
Put big green foam gloves (like the one's they wear at the ballgame) on both their hands and bind em tightly with scotch tape..."try clapping now you bastards!!! Rawrrr!!!"
.
.
.
Then I pop my superwhistle back into my mouth, pickup my glowsticks on strings, splash some water in a 5 foot radius around me and burn a few people with my ciggy before getting down to my gangsta-boogie!
.
.
.
ARawwwrrr!

So if you choose to go there, expect to compromise a little.

I'll buy one !!! I'm guilty as well.

Also never seen anyone fall at a club, that wasn't down the stairs or because or an empty glass/bottle on the floor.

I only brought up the subject of water on the floor because this thread was turning into another clubber rant, so I figured I'd pip in with my 2 cents as well. Unfortunately, like most TOTA threads it turned to bickering among members. I guess I'm just as much to blame as everyone else. Still, I agree about the contradiction -- but I'm not as you suggest unaware of it. I'm vocal about it here, but realize that inevitably it's me who has the issue, and it's me who ultimately makes the descion as to where I go and party.

does that shirt come in a tanktop version?

another proud waterspiller here. and for the record, my waterspot is untouchable by anyone else, unless of course, some guy with a whistle shows up behind me and forces me to find a new spot.

I see a trend here. People have argued safety reasons against water spilling yet its vigorously defended even though others think its a nuisance.

Then many of the SAME people complain to no end about whistlers and how annoying they are.

Both whistlers AND water spillers would argue that it's just part of the clubbing experience and if you dont like it stay home.

I find it interesting how hypocritical humans can be.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Aug-15-2007 16:31:

I'm noticing a trend of you twisting what people say to suit your own agenda.

you cant deny it though... people here tend to complain about other's actions but defend their own based on what suits them. At least i defend smokers, druggies, whistlers, and pitbull rights when i dont even do/own any of those things.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-15-2007 16:39:

This thread is even better than that fucking waste of time that was the "How do you pronounce PETSMART" thread.

Serious stuff here, folks!

Thumbs up

Oddly enough, if someone were to say, I'm a proud whistler I can bet he / she'd be torn apart by the same people. Hypocracy - it abounds in these parts. You hit the proverbial nail right on the head.

I'm going to make sure I buy a whistle the next time I go to one of the slippery clubs and go and stand right next to a proud waterspiller and blare that thing out of tune all nite. heh, I like that...I'm going to have to see it through at some point. Maybe even see if I can find some TOTA Spillers to piss off. Hypocritical -- but oh so fun...

You're grasping at straws here.

Difference:

- 50 people whistling off-beat, non-stop, ruins the experience.

- 50 people spilling a tiny bit of water on the spot they're already dancing on doesn't affect anyone and it certainly doesn't drown out the music.

Posted by Kytracid on Aug-15-2007 17:36:

actually, I think 50 people making conditions dangerous for hundreds of others is FAR worse then 50 people blowing whistles. Plus, you exaggerate one, while playing down the other.

Never in my 10 years of clubbing have I ever heard 50 people with whistles at a club. Even 10 are a stretch, and most people here will bitch about just one...1 !!!! LOL.

Meanwhile, I'm almost positive there are almost 50 people just on TOTA who are proud waterslippers. The fact they haven't EVER seen anybody fall on their spot, or claim that they NEVER move from their path of slippery floor is highly suspect. When was the last time you saw someone remain on the same spot during the course of the nite ? Besides, you don't have to move for water to get tracked all over the floor by others.

I understand Jay's point. People will whine about something one person does, without even considering all the fucked up things they do during the course of a nite -- they'll even find a way to justify it while vilifying someone else.

It's truly staggering.

Go ahead, I think it's only right that as the first brave TOTA to come out and claim to be a waterspiller that it be you that starts the poll.

By my count, there are already 5 people who have claimed to be part of that gang. Not to mention, I've seen more then a few who haven't spoken up doing the same. No names...you know who you are.

Posted by SasH21 on Aug-15-2007 17:39:

Wow,I can't believe 5 days later, you guys are still "fightning" about this whole water spilling issue!

Time to have a peaceful hug lol

Actually, we've moved passed the fighting. We're getting statistical now.
