Been a shite day for British teams fucking Spaniards, Italians and French!

Totally and utterly schooled by barca, to be expected but it ain't half frustrating that their second equaliser comes from our mistake (not for the first time in our champions league history).

No complaints, beaten by a far better team.

Man U sneak that all important away goal at the death.

nail-biter from Adebayor's head, but to no avail

Arsenal will have to pull something out of their arse in the return leg.

My match comments for Manchester United v. Lyon

United played with their head up their fucking asses in the first half. They were lucky not to concede a goal. They were also lucky that Rio Ferdinand's didn't have an own goal in the first half. Lyon was definitely the better side in the first half.

2nd half. Aside from the ridiculous goal by Benzema by Lyon (I'll post a highlight when it's on youtube...it's a must watch), United slowly imposed their will. It finally paid off when Tevez put it in the back of the net. United could have played better, but I'm pleased with a 1-1 result.

I would hardly say that a 3-2 win is "totally and utterly schooled". That header from Venegoor was bang on, and if it weren't from that mistake that allowed Messi to score the result might have been different.

Barcelona are a team which oozes class. How many other teams would come to Celtic park and play with 3 up front( with Eto'o as a sub!).Celtic battled hard but at times were mesmerised with the one-touch play of probably the most gifted team in the world..2-3 was certainly no disgrace.
The applause given to Rohnaldinhio and Henry on their substitutions made me proud to be a 'Tim', as was the Celtic chants from the Barca supporters..then reciprocated by the appreciative Celtic fans.
2-0 in the Nou Camp should do us !!!!

lolzy wolzy.

good luck with that, barca should be even more dominant at home. you're right tho, Celtic played well against a superpower. it could've been much worse.

the scoreline may give the illusion of a tight match, but barca were so far ahead of us it was unreal. The second half possession must have been about 80% barca.

It was a true lesson in football and I can't help feel the only reason they didn't hammer us by 4 or 5 was because they want a decent crowd in the nou camp for the return leg.

Posted by verndogs on Feb-21-2008 15:48:

I only saw a 4 minute clip of the Arsenal-AC Milan game. If Arsenal runs circles around AC Milan again, they'll go through to the next round. Amazing how the Gunners didn't score a goal. AC Milan should go to the film room and watch the Tottenham-Arsenal game from this past December to see a good game plan that Tottenham manager Juande Ramos used to frustrate Arsenal.

As for Celtic - Barca, caught the highlights of this as well...wow...what a sucky way to give up the go ahead goal by Celtic. Celtic is screwed since the away goal rule really hurts them. I don't see them winning by 2 at Camp Nou.

I was disappointed that the usual footy bar here I go to here in NYC (Which was PACKED yesterday) had the Man U v. Lyon game in the downstairs, so I couldn't rotate my head from game to game like I normally do in the main area
