I had this problem with the TA poll. People can vote based on track slection and order of tracks and how they are played out, or look into the technincal side of things and how the dj incorporates effects and smooth transitions.

I am glad armin made number one. He is a big part of helping spread EDM to the noobs with his satelite radio show, he has toured heavly this year, has been incorporating live keyboards (though only in euroep...asshole lol), and i havnt heard him screw up yet this year. PVD shoudnt be considered more technical than AVB because he knows how to play with ableton and can use a midi. I respect that out of him, but not everyone can play something live, so they make up for it in other ways.

I do think PVD should have been placed higher up. Many would disagree but i think ferry tiesto digweed and sasha could have lost some votes and those could have gone to pvd. Wasnt so pleased with those sets this year, and actually thought PVD had one of the best sets this year of all the years ive seen him.

Overall - glad psytrance is hitting hard still in the polls. Not as hard as others, in fact might have the least amount of djs, but it is the genre of edm least known throughout the world. It is massive in parts like japan and brazil, then unheard of in most.

And for those saying IM dont deserve their spot as djs... have you listened to the live stream? THat was killer. No fuck ups in transitions as some djs who only dj and dont do live sets. The tracklist was large. Big ups to those guys.

Why don't you and all the other naysayers just come to terms with this? Technical skill doesn't make a dj.

I had a problem with people saying this also. They call this a popularity poll. Well think about it. How does one become popular? How does a satelite show pick you up so the noobs can here you and stick with you as a favorite? How does a dj get gigs at a massive and then spread all around the world? How does a dj hire a promoter to help spread the word?

You must be above the rest to qualify anywhere in the top 250. Popularity junkies - those who stick to their dj from the past - makes only a small percent. Anyone could be the best dj at home, but it takes a real dj to make it throughout the world and spread his name. It doesnt happen in a day. None of the top 10 djs made it big over night or even a year. So all those saying popularity contests are dj polls, rethink the statements. How does that dj gain popularity is the way to think about it. And then, why cant the 251st dj get the popularity of dj number 250 or 100 or 1?

NICE! I heard him say an an interview he isnt the greatest at it. But i still havnt had the chance to even see the long haired keyboardist play a piece from armins tracks. Wish that would happen someday in the states - come tour with him or what not.

Ryan Tyas should be in the top 10, just because of his beefcake status....Massive Mike said he is just dreamy.........these Lists make debate just as run as debating sports...

I think this poll tells you who can charge the most for their gigs and how much you can charge people to get in if you book them.

All this poll did was increase MADE's profitability and promotion for his next event. Have fun paying $60+ for his next 2 day event marathon(im not hating, this is the truth and is exactly what will happen). LOL. If u guys havent caught on to that, well its quite sad at this point really.

60 bucks for a 2 day 6 hour set comes out to 30 bucks a day
thats not too shabby
but i hear you like i said i hope the fame dont go to his head and whatever
to be honest id say about 75% of the djs on the top 20 deserved to be there no question about it
after that its a joke but to me i voted for djs who i saw live
not whos songs i heard and said "oh shit thats a bomb let me vote for him"
cause thats what i think alot of it is these days if your a sick producer people dont care about ur dj skills or how you are live
such a shame

LOL, $60/day, not for both days. If it were $60 for both days, that would be like a bargain or something.

Armin for president?!!!!

What they should do is have a list of the most influential producers/djs of the year in no particular order.

Unfortunately this would never work as djmag would have great deal of difficulty marketing it. This is their best selling issue of the year BY FAR solely due to the controversy etc.

judging by this thread they have accomplished EXACLY what they set out to, which is get to people arguing over a stupid do poll so they can generate more magi sales.

This whole thing pissed me off because there is no "best" do just as there is no greatest Guitar player or greatest band. (But guitar magi publishes a list every year also --- weird)

There is a handful of elite individuals who deserve credit for their achievements but lets not do them the injustice of placing them in a stupid " my fav do is better than you fav do" list.

Just my 2 cents.

did you catch him at 1015 the day before love fest in SF? i was in the booth and caught him using the keyboard to play melodies of a track pretty often not many people see this aspect or how much he multitasks so it gets under appreciated. most people think auto-beat matching when a dj uses a laptop but its much more complex than that
