Dude, I don't care who he collabs with but if he can work with someone and make tracks that sounded like the old Attention Deficit stuff....I'm all for Dresden's "cheese" lol

When it came to the workhorse, obviously Josh did more since he did all the work in Logic....and neither of them hide that. If you look at how they respond to things, Josh nicely is saying he does more and Dave is pretty much saying Josh did more (and you can base this on Josh knowing Logic when Dave didn't) without directly saying....it's all right there. Just it'd be BAD for one of them to straight up say it...at least right now (for PR reasons). Ten years down the road, can say what they want...just not now.

HINT HINT right in the above post...

Posted by RJT on Apr-09-2008 01:23:

What lines are we supposed to read between?

You mean the line where Dave talks about how he has aspurgers and bipolar syndromes, and how they make him able to tap into some mystic emotional energy that allows him to create cheesy anthemic garbage? Or how about the part where he talks about how no one can understand him until they've lived with all the struggle he has?

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, there's a whole lot of "The other guy is a fucking douchebag but I've been mildly famous long enough to know I can't say that in public" going on. I'd have expected nothing less.

Where did he talk about that?

RS: I've read on your blogs that you also struggle with Asperger's syndrome. Is this related to attention deficit disorder? How does it affect your DJing/producing?

Dave Dresden: Well I have a dual diagnosis. I have bipolar disorder and Asperger's syndrome. What those two things do is help me feel emotional music more easily and deeply than someone without them. It has helped me write lyrics and form songs that would help people with problems feel something because being a person with this problem, it helped me, and knowing that I was helping people with the music I helped create gave me a sense of purpose and that feeds itself in a lot of ways and gives me the courage to go and make more music and understand a lot of what people are feeling on the dance floor and elsewhere.

Sometimes when working with people who are not afflicted with these diseases it makes them question you, because they don't live with these problems. They don't quite understand what I and people with these afflictions are going through and can be mistaken for rudeness and selfishness, when in fact, all I want to do is just do better and help people through the best way I know how: music. It's been my driving force for many years. I didn't know I had these problems until 2006, but there's a thread to it all from the music I liked as a kid, how emotional songs would make me get chills and sometimes cry for both my condition, the feeling of being misunderstood and for those who would be on the receiving end of the music that was made. I am medicated for these conditions, but that still doesn't stop one from feeling these feelings, but also the memories I had going through life with these problems.

Sounds a lot to me like someone throwing themselves a pity party, making a bunch of excuses for being a knob, and patting themselves on the back all at once.

Again, par for the course.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

I bet you his struggle inspired the heart-wrenching lyrics in such masterpieces as "Tracking Treasure Down" and "Let it Go."

You can really hear and feel the pain and struggle of him searching for treasure. Makes you think, doesn't it?

Heavy shit here, Mr. Bo Jangles. Heavy shit.

Like, did he really just fucking say that?

Posted by Ted Promo on Apr-09-2008 01:51:

this thread better never end, this is too good.

Posted by Ted Promo on Apr-09-2008 01:55:

may I also state that I absolutely adore his introspective repose on his life with these terrible afflictions that he wasn't even aware he had until 2006.

I bet it cuts so fucking deep.

Posted by RJT on Apr-09-2008 02:21:

The best part of it all is that you and I and everyone else here knows that Dave is reading every last word of it.

Posted by nefardec on Apr-09-2008 02:27:

lol at what wikipedia says about asperger's

quote:
The lack of demonstrated empathy is possibly the most dysfunctional aspect of Asperger syndrome.

so much for making emotional club anthems, huh?

maybe that's why their music was always so insipid and lifeless

Posted by RJT on Apr-09-2008 03:04:

This thread should be moved to the classics forum.

Pretty sure RJT read between the lines in his breakdown of the interview quote above.

Nail on the god damn head.

In the end, we'll see how this Dave Dresden solo thing pans out...
