Got mine +3. How late does it go to? Later the better, so much better in the dark....and it doesnt get dark until like 8.

Also, how do you get there? There are subways that run near it right? I'm coming from Hoboken, never been to Brooklyn

Last year it went until 10:00 pm SHARP. Stupid city law :/

Your best bet is to get to the G train and get off at Nassau Ave stop.
As soon as you get out, walk on Manhattan ave towards Driggs. When you get out of the train you should either be on Norman Ave, Or Nassau Ave.

If you get off on Nassau you will see a PFC (chicken place), and dunkin donuts. Walk away from those, thats where driggs is.
If you get off on norman, walk towards the shorter block (you will know what i mean, also towards driggs.

Once you reach driggs, make a right and the first street, left. Thats where mccarren pool is

Hope that helps.

my boyfriend grew up in the bronx and never went to brooklyn until he was like 20. I have only been there a few times myself. Its freakin far and pointless to go to unless you live there.

(not saying anything bad about brooklyn, I actually like a few things there.....but too far when you can find really whatever you need in manhattan....)

I guess only us touristy types go all over even though we don't really have to. I went to Brooklyn b/c I wanted to see what Target was like! Holy sweet god, it was worth it for the food court alone!

Posted by chimera66 on Jun-25-2008 17:26:

yeah its surprising how many people don't take the time to go to other parts of the city. especially since its really not that far...

hehe its so fun to be a tourist in ur own city i didnt even discover Bklyn myself until age 28 where I moved to Bay Ridge on a whim and I swear to this day i prefer Bklyn for the ppl and niche stores/neighborhoods over certain areas of Queens or even the city as a place to live. Yes, going there to hang out is a bit of a trek but whenever i do its been MORE than worth it.

OH!! have you visited IKEA in BROOKLYN YET!!! Red Hook im soo glad there is an IKEA so close to us now!!!

Posted by Lenchik on Jun-25-2008 20:25:

Apparently, there's been an oil spill for the last 50 yrs under that area of BK... Dancing in oil???

What's the deal with alcohol there? Do they have a full bar? Hard to sneak in your own drinks? aka diet coke bottle half filled with captain mo

Posted by Oneeleven on Jun-27-2008 03:49:

Another question for you veterans of last year, what is the footing like? Grass? Cement? both?

Merci in advance

Posted by The Vza on Jun-27-2008 05:41:

its a giant cement swimming pool.

good luck bringing drinks in... they have bouncers that will search you. i mean... in my experience they never search THAT hard. but i doubt you could bring in a bottle of anything. maybe something small and well hidden...

but i dont sneak shit in anywhere anymore. cant risk it

they probably have brooklyn beer, doubt they have any well drinks, never seen that at that venue.

they may also have some food

The food isnt actually that bad, but beer is horrible, even if its given out for free

Posted by The Vza on Jun-27-2008 14:57:

um... if you want to drink I'm pretty sure they check ID's while waiting in line to get in. just show one of the bouncers a 21+ ID and thats it. as far as easy to get drinks, its like buying beer at any concert venue. long lines and overpriced cups
