Am I the only one that got sick of Ace Ventura really quickly? The album is good, but a lot of the tracks are overly similar and that "DAdanDAdanDAdan" bass line he uses for most of his tracks gets a bit old.

Wizzy Noise should be wicked, and same with Astral Projection.

I'm still trying to digest my last order a few weeks ago, it's very hard to keep up with all the awesome music coming out!

In some ways I wish the scene was 10% of what it is purely so I wouldn't miss stuff, but we all know finding and sharing good tunes is all part of the fun...

trust me wherever you go there will be loads to sort through before you find the gems. me and dee have spent $1000's on so much different shit! its addictive and an awesome hunt for great tunes.

What sort of sound are you looking for? beatport has some unreal stuff, just need to sort thru the garbage 1st

I've got some shitful dark-psy CDs that I will never listen to again.

You never know if it's really good until you listen in full.

Oh man no kidding. There is a world of awesome shit in there but you just have to listen to everything to find them. At first, what seems cool will change as you progress through this genre. I will probably listen to 100 tunes before I buy maybe 5 to 10 from them.

It's such a constant learning process to get psy sets right. I'm still nowhere near where I want to be but that's the beauty of it and what keeps my interest up. Finding the right tunes to build the journey takes time and dedication. As Ben said you go through a truck load of shit before you find your place.

Hunting labels are the key or at least for me it is. Months later the stuff you didn't buy from that same label becomes mad, lol it's funny how it works. Your ear changes all the time the longer you play it.

Heh it's funny but once you find consistency in one sound, another part of this genre captures your imagination and you'll go on another journey. The progressive side is genius imo.

hmm i guess its more of the psy-ish stuff that Christopher Lawrence plays sometimes. its not the typical psy-trance sound i guess. more techy, like a mix of tech trance and psy. If i was at home i could rattle off some examples but at work.

i also like the euphoric trancey kinda psy j00f plays. stuff like 00db - Ark or Bennison - Turbomachinery (j00f remix).

tbh though i havn't delved very deep into psy yet so my exposure is fairly limited. if you could recommend any artists similar to these, it would be great

Also, as you've often stated Denham, there's so many different kinds of psy which I find makes it hard to plan and structure sets and also buy music based on small samples!

ok so i had a quick listen to a several tunes from most of these artists.
Protoculture and Silicon Sound were my favourite easily and that is the closest to the sound im interested in.
i didnt mind all the stuff i heard, but from the rest i liked Psywalker and Fatali next best. would have to be in the right frame of mind to listen to Psywalker for an extended period of time though i think
i dont mind some of the full on/israeli stuff in small doses either, can get repetitive though imo.

When searching through beatport i found it very lacking again. alot of the artists didnt have any released in 2008 or 1 or 2. a quick comparison with audiojelly shows LOTS more hits when searching.
i think its time to switch to audio jelly as my primary source of tunes. i have noticed in the past it has a much bigger range for other styles i like and it seems to be generally cheaper as well.
i just love the beatport UI... so easy to use.

anyway, ill have a bit more of a looksie

Fatali at Room this year was the maddest friggin music I'd heard all year.

..last week i stumbled across Abomination's debut album titled 'Enemy Within' i think, released through Nexus Media May 2006. Hard, fast and dark but def quality imo...

Was I surprised at work today when a copy of this:

I'd been considering buying it last week as part of a larger order but was waiting for my pay check to clear.

Already have volumes 1, 2 and 3 which are quite good too.

p.s one of the guys who runs this label is called "Eskimo", but it's a different guy to the one coming to here soon. Confusing stuff.
