Don't get me wrong look back on PDD and find the thread about that Apache killing. See my stance.

But in this case if I nearly died I'd do one of two things cry or laugh and I'd prefer the latter.

Yeah, I bet you would. And I'd bet you'd be kind of torn up about that fact. I highly doubt you'd describe the twitching of the body as "pretty funny" in and of itself.

Posted by Dervish on May-18-2008 21:47:

How else do you deal with the fact you nearly died. And have taken another mans life? Looking at his mangled face which could have been yours.

When I told a mate that my mum nearly died and I had to decide whether they cut her head open or not (I missed this part out) I laughed. He was the only guy I told and he thought I reckoned it was funny. So far from the truth....

I've no doubt that Shadow really didn't find the situation funny.

In a word: yes.

International Humanitarian Law Convention Rule 51 and 52:

quote:
In occupied territory:
1. movable public property that can be used for military operations may be confiscated;
2. immovable public property must be administered according to the rule of usufruct; and
3. private property must be respected and may not be confiscated except where destruction or seizure of such property is required by imperative military necessity. [IAC]

Rule 52.

Pillage is prohibited. [IAC/NIAC]

Rule 114:
quote:
Parties to the conflict must endeavour to facilitate the return of the remains of the deceased upon request of the party to which they belong or upon the request of their next of kin. They must return their personal effects to them. [IAC]

And as a kicker, Rule 140 and 149:
quote:
The obligation to respect and ensure respect for international humanitarian law does not depend on reciprocity. [IAC/NIAC]

Rule 149.
A State is responsible for violations of international humanitarian law attributable to it, including:

1. violations committed by its organs, including its armed forces;
2. violations committed by persons or entities it empowered to exercise elements of governmental authority;
3. violations committed by persons or groups acting in fact on its instructions, or under its direction or control; and
4. violations committed by private persons or groups which it acknowledges and adopts as its own conduct. [IAC/NIAC]

Grow up. Only 51 and 52 apply.

I actually hate to use this argument but seriously. 1) He did nothing wrong really what is a watch? 2) Try it yourself.

You've got to be joking if you think people will not be in shock after that situation. I.e. not thinking rationally, i.e. be let off.

Without stooping to your level of personal attacks, let me explain this one more time, since you obviously haven't understood it. I don't think it's uncommon to laugh - laughter is a great release of stress. I think it is fairly strange and abhorrent to describe a body twitching as "pretty funny", reprehensible to steal the personal effects from a person you just killed, and kind of distasteful to use it to pick up girls.

Again - great, he laughed. I probably would too. Stress does that kind of thing to you. But why call the twitching of his body funny, steal a personal effect from an individual he just killed, and then use that object to tell stories at the bar? You think that's normal as well, or are you still on about the laughing?

Posted by Dervish on May-18-2008 22:15:

Grow up? That's a personal attack to which you'd react so strongly? What if I pointed an AK47 at you and shot at you?

But yes I'm so simple that I "haven't understood it".

How about understanding this. He didn't actually find it funny it's a coping mechanism.

Well when he said it, it sounded like the body actually was funny for him.

Yes, well I like to eat them. Preferably blue footed boobies like this:

Served with a side of my brothers shit fished fresh from the toilet.

Posted by Dervish on May-18-2008 22:23:

I'm not going to speak for him as if I know. But I'm estimating nearly dying wasn't funny. Even if you did get the guy who tried it, who he killed.

Looking at a mess of a face that he caused. That the other guy wanted to do to you... how are you going to deal with that?

By the way it's not like after that he was magicked back to a nice warm house with a fridge full of food. He was still there in the heat and the sand. Carrying a heavy gun getting shot at, knowing he could be that guy tomorrow or the next day or the next for months and months.

Don't be so quick to judge. I really doubt he thought it was funny.

Do you turn everything into an argument? Ok, I'll stop being nice. Stop being so fucking dense. I didn't say you don't understand what happened, I said you obviously don't understand a fucking word that comes off my fingers. And you proved that pretty well once again. I apologize for believing his original story and not the revision that came after whiskers and others reacted in surprise to his description of a twitching body as "pretty funny." Believe what you want - I don't give a shit. I'm not even sure why you're taking a stance on this.

If you had an ounce of comprehension in your body, you would have realized by now that I completely understand the coping mechanism. It's the way he described what was funny and the action he took re: the watch that I find to be in poor taste.

3rd grade version: I understand why he laughed. I think stealing the watch and calling the twitching body "pretty funny" were out of line.

Posted by Dervish on May-18-2008 22:27:

So taking a watch is the issue? (the description is just dealing with telling people "I've had a traumatic experience")

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-18-2008 22:28:

God who cares? Just shut the fuck up now, fags.

Stealing a watch and calling the body it came from "pretty funny" because it was twitching.

Hahaha, well said.

Posted by Dervish on May-18-2008 22:31:

Taking a watch..... yep never happened in war ever taking trophies. Who cares it's a watch.

And all the bravado is just more dealing with. He retracted it later knowing he didn't really think that. I mean if you were (as he is) in Iraq (blahhhhhhhh hate to use these terms, but it's no less true...) are you gonna give two shits what some internet forum thinks?

Posted by iammesol on May-18-2008 22:33:

Theres not gonna' be anything that will settle that argument, so please just quit wasting posts
