lexus is the most UNDERRATED car as far as im concerned. you get more for your money and i would take a lexus over ANY lower end german "luxury" car any day. the new bmw 3 series are a joke on the inside compared to the IS. japanese know about all the toys and luxury components and not only that but u can easily put 200k miles on a lexus and that bitch will run smoother than any german car with 70k miles on it.

i wouldn't say that Lexus is overrated, but BMW still kicks its ass

Posted by Slylee on Jul-17-2008 21:38:

for the record, im just talking about the lower end lexus v. bmw

yea i will take an M6 any day...i love bmws but i'm just comparing them in a "more bang for your buck" sense. lexus is a great line of cars and for someone to be like, "omg they are soo overrated, u can get a BMW for what u could buy a lexus for" is just funny to me. clearly they have never owned a BMW or a lexus. i've owned 2 bmws and my ex had a lexus. no comparison in the way they handled after so many miles.

edit // I was talking about the Lexus IS 350, that's their big IS right? Compare that to the BMW 335 and you'd rather take the Lexus?

Not even the same leaaaaaaague!

That is such a crock of shit. The difference is you have to pay more attention to German cars. They aren't cars that you can run without oil for 30k and not have a problem.

Suspension at 100k on any car is shot. It should be replaced at 70k or so.

Both company are good. Once you start getting into the less entry level cars they all are pretty nice.

A4 vs. IS350 - both are nice Id call a tie. Ido think the IS-f (hybrid) is pretty fuckin cool.
TT vs. SC - TT hands down
A6 vs. GS/ES - I give the A6 the upperhand on this one
A8 vs. LS - Close..I really like the LS. Tough call.

Then Audi has the "S models" that really make them great. I feel these versions distroy anything Lexus brings to the table.

Incorrect. The A4 is the greatest car ever developed my mankind.

I like the look of those smaller Lexus like the IS350

Only to be topped by the S4.

Fixed for factual validity.

it might be good but lately everybody in an audi seems to be a bit of a cock. I really approve of that, if every cock that used to drive a BMW turn to audi, bmw will again be driven only by driving enthusiasts and not just another tool with 30k to spare.

Speaking of BMWs, i fell in love with this one as soon as i saw the ad yesterday. I consider the E36 3er to be the best looking 3 series ever made. And the one in the ad looks like it just arrived brand new in a showroom. If i want unemployed at the moment i would ignore the fact that insurance would cost me twice what i pay now, and that it would use about three times more fuel as my current car does. I would sell my car and buy this, for no other reason than the sheer love i feel for such classic BMWs.

I've got a wee focus, got it cheap as chips. It's got a few scratches etc but otherwise spotless.

Don;t see the point in flashy cars which cost you a fortune just in depreciation.

E30 M3 is such a beautiful car. I fucking LOVE it. I wish I could find one for less than US$20k!

As I have said to many people many times, you don't buy a Ferrari for practicality. It is not now, nor will it ever be, practical.

+1

if you had the money for a Ferrari you could care less about the mpg's or how cool the air conditioner is

A lot of people use cars as an appliance. Nothing wrong with it. I just figuire if Im going to be paying for it for the next few years might as well get the best one I can. Preferably with heavy aftermarket support.

That is a pre-requisite for me. Although ricers must be turned off by it. Which basically is all the cars I basically love. The FD3S, 240/180sx/Silvia, VW, BMW, etc.

E30 M3s are great but extremely rare. I know of an E30 M3 EVo2 that is selling for 55.000 sure its in mint condition but add 15k to that and you can buy a brand new one. But thats what you get if a car is a legend.

Thats why serious drivers buy them as a second not a first car. You dont use a Ferrari to jump to the market for a litre of milk. Thats a waste of such a thoroughbred. And its a total waste in the city as well. Waiting as the lights, moving in a slow traffic, parking in spaces that are just right in size for a peel P50... That's not what that car was designed for. It was designed to be blasted down the side curvy roads not straight and boring motorways, to be put to its paces around a race track and to bring a big smile on a driving enthusiasts face.

Sadly it seems that most are bought by yobs who only want to show off, they want the car but they don't respect it. I feel sad for those cars, as i feel that they will never achieve their full potential. those people will never floor it on a mountain road, for heavens sake the car could get dirty and if it doesn't shine how could anybody notice them! And they will never take it to the track, why waste perfectly good tires just so that you can prove to everybody else at the track that you suck at driving, because that man in a civic type r or an old bmw 325 is posting better lap times with less than half the power. Noooo, these people only ever put the pedal down in a city, where they think that they look cool if they try to powerslide round the roundabout.

However, one in a while you meet a true driver, a man that doesn't take his Ferrari into town but out on the roads, a person that appreciates that car for what it is, nothing less than driving perfection, and when such a person takes you for a ride, and shows you what a Ferrari is really about, there is only one way to go. You know deep inside, you make a promise to yourself, that one day you will own one, and that you will do anything to achieve that goal...

COR VERSION: I got a ride in a ferrari by a man who can FUCKING DRIVE! Im so fucking impressed that i will own one one day or ill die trying to achieve that goal.

I miss my 240sx. Handled so well and was such a fun car to drive the mountain roads.

Oh and yes the E30 M3 is semi rare, but you will never enjoy any BMW as much as that one.

good read mongoose.

there's a little bit of both at this ongoing car show that i go to sometimes with my best friend. there are a few there just to bust balls and compensate, but there are also some lambo owners who are truly into the car and driving, etc...

and if u are buying a ferrari, it better not be financed lol like mongoose said...it's a second car to have.

Posted by biznology on Jul-18-2008 01:05:

Someone's been watching Top Gear haven't we?

My father picked up his new A8 this morning, pretty nice ride, pulls like hell when you hit the floor. Too bad he wasn't as keen as I was about getting the S8...a bit less of a drop off after an M6...

Having seen and ridden in the new S Class (he had an S500 a few years back so it seemed natural to look) a few times I wasn't that impressed by it and neither was he. The Audi feels much more solid and put together as one package.
