Has anyone ever found the Penguin to be anything but campy, annoying, or disgusting (i.e. Danny DeVito spewing black goo?) No way.

see this is why tim burton is a cunt.

when people think Penguin they think some stupid campy, deformed orphan who eats raw fish, stabs fuckers with his nose and goes "waugh waugh" while talking. burtons Penguin is not the Penguin from the comics.
In the comics hes Oswald Cobblepot, a british arms dealer/mobster who owns a nightclub at Gotham.

Penguin can be a really badass character in the Nolan series. give the role to Bob Hoskins and there we go.

one of my favorite penguin moments is in No Man's Land where he auctions off a apple for a shit load of money. because after the earthquake there was no food left and he had the only fresh apple.

bob hoskins

emily blunt

black mask/roman sionis

james mcavoy

riddler/edward nigma

robin williams

nolan already directed him in Insomnia, his character was kind of the psychopathic killer who liked to play games.

That was so strange seeing him in that roll.

I found this movie to be a bit over-hyped. It was a great movie...but I wouldn't put it in that upper echelon of quality films. Heath was awesome as the Joker but I felt Christian Bale's acting to be a bit rough at times. By the end of the movie his stupid deep Batman voice became a bit much and I also found the whole two-face add-in to be quite bad. I think buddy's acting was terrible once he became two face and I'm of the opinion that he definately did not need holes in the side of his face. The movie could have been a bit shorter as well. I found it to drag a little bit towards the end.

Very true. I was very disturbed, but that shows how well he took on the character. At points i felt as though it should be 18+. I went in with no expectations and came out amazed. Story line was fantastic and the acting blew me away.

The only reason this is one of my favorites is b/c I imagined myself as Amy Smart in the movie. I don't actually think it's quality.

Going with that version of the Penguin would be interesting actually, since they've already established the crimelords of Gotham. Penguin could be, perhaps, a lesser villain in the next one as a new gangster in Gotham but I dont' think Nolan would go with him as the main bad guy because he recently said he hated the character. I agree that Burton's Penguin was a little stupid, but I don't hate Batman Returns for some odd reason.

The Riddler is too similar to the Joker to be the next villain. I can see Catwoman being worked in, but was never a big fan of her.

Haha...again, I never said the quality of the movie was good!

i hope they don't do selina kyle and oswald cobblepot together in the next one. regardless of how much better it would be, it's already been done.

I'm at a loss as to what villain they'll choose. Director Christopher Nolan said he hates the Penguin and both that character and Catwoman have been done.

Anyone have any ideas?

cobblepot has always had a thing for the cat while the cat had a thing for the bad and the bat had a thing for the cat as well...its the norm to have 2 villains in each so if they have catwoman in any of them, the most ideal accompaniment would be penguin

in that case, one of them should take a back seat to another more prominent character. or just have oswald as mobster oswald, and not the penguin. supervillain penguin and crazy catwoman i'm not interested in seeing as the main players in another batman. oswald the mobster, selina/catwoman and ???????? - ok.

also, dr. crane was still in the dark knight, albeit for all of 15 seconds. i'm sure they'll have more than just 2 in the next one, even if it's with similar time allotment to scarecrow.

the reason why scarecrow was in dark knight as well was to show that he was still at large...remember how in the end of batman begins, Gordon and the bat talk about him not being seen anywhere?
