Easily the most successful RJT promotional set of all time.

i'll give one of my patented reviews later. i was going to at first but then i started listening and got all relaxed and groovy and i was like "this shit is really really good".

and then i thought to myself "holy fuck it'd be that much more amazing after a J and some vitamin water".

...what? i like vitamin water with my weed. baltimore represent!

I love mixing that tune as well because the claps in it just sound so awesome when you just slam them in on phrase. The guitar line is gorgeous, but I think I'm with you - it's all in the percs.

To be honest, that whole little bit in the beginning is probably my favorite part of the mix - like the first three tunes.

Anyways, glad you seemed to dig it Denys - thanks for the thoughts.

Wow, can't believe I slacked on this for so long - sorry guys!

So far I can think of Brian Kage, Russ Gabriel, a lot of the old Detroit techno stuff (I'll dig up a link to that thread too), as well as the newer remixes of old Inner City/Kevin Saunderson tunes that have been coming out.

Rejected is also great, but technically that is Joris Voorn.

Michel de Hey, some M.I.R.K.O., some Sebo K, Sei A (or a lot of the Urbantorque stuff), anything by Deetron.....

....for a start

Much obliged.

Always glad to see someone try to get their feet wet in a genre that may not be their first choice. Hope you enjoy it, but even if you don't, feel free to let me know how wretched it was - I promise I won't be offended.

Thanks for the download.

Posted by ReclusNdangrmnt on Aug-25-2008 20:06:

Well, I do enjoy Aqueous Transmission, so there's at least one thing I like on here.

Posted by Frenkieee on Aug-25-2008 20:33:

I've been lurking the Music Discussion and the c0r more and more the last couple of months and one thing that become most clear to me was that, of all TA's, it was you who had the strongest opinions on all sorts of tracks, producers, sets, styles, etcetera etcetera, so I'm going to give this baby a listen to get to know what in hell it is that you're so fond of

Do not expect an extended review, since I'm in no way familiar with DJ'ing myself.. I just like to listen to good music

By the way, I already saw a downside on this set.. it made Glannie decide not to record a set of his own

Posted by RJT on Aug-25-2008 20:35:

Apparently I've set high standards for myself. Feel free to just leave one brutal "Fucking sucks, m8" should you feel the need to say anything at all!

So I used this mix as the soundtrack to my day, and it works quite well!
Excellent mix, especially loved the bits of sax.

Posted by enydo on Aug-26-2008 05:41:

I just realized I completely forgot to mention the Sax!

That was another great part of this mix for me, just realized after running through the set while studying. For some reason I just love tracks that implement some Saxy horn stuff.

I should really pick my horn back up, haven't touched it in a few years.

Really glad you enjoyed it, and again - thanks for taking the time to try something new.

I used to play the alto sax back in the day, but would be totally lost if I picked one up today. Don't lose your stroke - because I'm telling you that if I could, I'd love to pick it back up and try to play again.

Try everything once, and if you like it, try it again.

It's never funny to think about losing it.

Indeed, though that mentality can get you in a jam real quick if you like what you try so much you don't want to stop doing it and quickly realized you can't afford to keep shooting smack and skipping work.

Hey Rob! I finally got around to listening to this. I gotta say I'm loving this, it's one of the most unique sets I've ever heard. The strings, the sax, everything is top notch.

I'll give it another listen and post a full review later.

Great work!

Edit:

I just realized that the cue sheet you uploaded to sendspace is wrong, I took the liberty to correct it

Awesome mix. I just finished listening to it and then I started it right back up again.
Props to you and everyone who turned you on to all this music. Every track is a gem and amazing piece of music and you put it all together extremely well. Dare I say perfect? Nothing is really perfect but a set just doesn't get much better. Quite an awesome journey. Great blending of differences. Never got boring. I listened to your nefardelfreak mix and while it was also good the music wasn't my preference. But this mix. Wow...good show! Oh and Aqueous Transmission was a great ending. I think I only heard that a couple times back in the day so it stirred up interesting emotions. The whole mix is emotional. Again...good job.
