yep we are missing eachother slightly .. by "commercial" I actually meant like 20th century pop/rock and I guess also contemporary rock music. I was using it as an extreme example of something poorly designed for high volumes but possible to appreciate on almost any soundsystem, a quality that minimal barely has at all (I'd argue that minimal requires heavy sound to be appreciated even more so than other edm)

Yes, the loudness war in commercial pop/rock radio realm is horrible.

"Clearly" not a way to experience wonderfully mastered audio.

That moonbeam mix was alright, but clearly that poster has a different interpretation. i heard some techno SOUNDING stuff in there

Back in 1999 there was a massive movement away from the maximalism of golden age Goa trance--all those screaming 303s and ecstatic climaxes--toward deep, hypnotic, minimal psychedelic grooves. It's also the common excuse when idiot trance-crackers try to explain to their friends why they listen to such shit music - because "You just have to be there, man - experience the music in person. It's just so PLUR. The way ______ builds a set - you just have to experience it firsthand."

Give me a fucking break with your tired, generic EDM criticism. It could be applied to just about every major musical trend in the past century.

To be honest, you couldn't get any more shit music than this...I would hate this on a night out too, so I think Palm still has a point.

wow, im suprised so many ppl dislike this set. this is pretty fuckin fresh imo. but hey, its an aquired taste i guess, sorta like coffee. and on that note, off to the coffee pot.

I thought this set was great. I was having a hard time falling asleep until I downloaded it.

This is a great set. I agree with Rob about all the trance fans using the same excuse for their shitty sub genre.

Considering your tastes tend towards Above and Beyond and anything labeled "uplifting trance", your opinion doesn't surprise me in the least.

I don't know if you've noticed, but half of all threads on here have nothing to do with trance. So your point as annoying as it is, has nothing to do with trance fans having the same excuse as someone else pointed out that is a common reply from minimal fans as to why they enjoy it.

How the fuck do you know what my tastes in music are limited to? For the record I'm not a huge fan of Above and Beyond, and uplifting trance is not my favourite genre by a long way.
Christ, don't get so tetchy just because someone says that minimal is boring and shit. Besides, if everyone did like it, then you wouldn't be as cool, right?

i think minimal being boring to many is great, because at the events you don't see the PLUR crew ruining your night by rolling their balls off whilst seemingly picking imaginary apples.
