As much as I'd like to see Sasha, sounds like it wouldn't have been worth it. I don't like him that much to have to put up with the crowd.

could anyone have honestly expected better though?

I didn't. Amazing music, but just an utterly horrible venue.

They could rename it The Facepalm Lounge.

The Cheesecake Factory works too.

Cheesecake tastes like fermented and hardened tit byproduct. So yeah, I guess that would also be synonymous with Opera.

Agreed. This was my first time to Opera, and I'd much prefer some other venue. The crowd it attracts is horrible, more of the trendy crowd than music fans. Sasha's set was fantastic though, I wish it lasted a bit longer.

If anyone saw the kid with his mouth sewn shut, that was me.

I have to say though, even though it was packed, I didn't have any problem navigating the crowd or getting drinks in a timely fashion.

Wow, you have a crappy experience just about every time you go out. Maybe next time you should buy a handle of vodka and a disco ball, invite some friends to your house, and plug in your iPod. Better times + less money.

Here's to hoping that next time won't suck so much for you.

hahah

Yeah we used to do that (minus the iPod, we know enough wannabe DJ's that aren't a constant train wreck :eyespop, but have been scarred since someone brought an old man who threw up salsa on our white carpet

And it wasn't totally crappy, it just wasn't worth the hassle of the crowd. The music WAS great, and I got to hear a few classics such as:

Drunk girl to Bathroom attendant: "Are they going to play 80's music in the main room all night?"

Another drunk girl to drunk guy when we were mock singing along to Cafe Del Mar: "OMG, people actually KNOW this music?"

Posted by Seppuku on Nov-02-2008 18:27:

So what all did he play? I don't doubt the overall experience was shitty, but any real reviews of the actual set?

Posted by Caution_BiPolar on Nov-02-2008 21:37:

I honestly didn't recognize a whole lot of what was played, I recall Cafe Del Mar and a mix of Ladytron's Everything we Touch and that's about it

Got there about 1045 and waited 30-45 minutes to get in. Once inside, we waited 20 minutes to get a drink. Then I waited another 20 minutes to go to the bathroom. Afterward, I get a text to meet my friend at the front left. It takes approx. 10 minutes to wade through the people. We get there and are pushed, stomped, and dragged by others, so we go wait another 30 minutes for a drink. Then we wade through the crowd another 10 minutes to get to the restroom, just to have the asshole bouncer say that since they had 493875089234720578345 people in attendance, they were closing the bottom restroom, and sent us to wait (and we timed this) 27 minutes to get into the upstairs one. After this, someone wanted another drink, we waited, went back to the dance floor to get pushed, shoved, and stepped on... and about 10 minutes later, the house lights came on.

... wait, Sasha was there?

That's what I figured it would be like. I'm glad I ended up not going.

Sasha was good. He played some good stuff plus his mixing was top notch. (As always) It did get a little boring to me though midway through his set. The tunes were good, but not appropiate for a Halloween party. I was a bit bored for 20 mins or so. He finished out strong though. Overall, good show... good times.
