nikons are almost non present in the clubs over here...

canon always had cleaner pics at higher iso till not too long ago, i guess nobody noticed that...

Posted by malek on Sep-18-2008 04:20:

what excites me the most are the video capabilities!!!

Imagine being able to use your lense and ISO settings!!

Check those clips out (scroll down)

Exact same scenario here too. All I see are Canons. I see a very few Olympus, but the ones that aren't using Canons are usually using the lowest dslr-like camera they can find.

those aren't good test shots, the pics aren't even the same, canon appears to be superior... but it's hard to tell from those shots.

Thanks for the link.

They aren't the best. It's still early and we'll have to wait a bit for some proper testing. But (assuming the info is correct) the Nikon shots are RAW, and the Canon is JPG. Can you make a prediction about what the Canon's shots would look like in RAW?

eagrly waiting the full blown dpreview.com review to see the real difference.

Do you shoot raw in clubs anyways?

me = waiting too.

I did it for about 2 months in late 2007 and I liked the results, but, I decided the added effort was not needed for the shots I was doing. They are more "casual" shots. I now consistently shoot at the clubs in JPG fine, maximum size.

if I get the MKII I see myself shooting in the 10MP sRAW mode..

taking pics while it films?!!??!?!

Posted by Rasidel Slika on Sep-18-2008 20:59:

holy cow.. thats news to me. god this thing is gonna be nuts at the clubs.. like this:

Posted by Rasidel Slika on Sep-18-2008 21:27:

ok the guy in the above video says it differently - and may be wrong - he says it allows photographers to "take still images while they're still filming in high definition". The following PC World says otherwise. This says that you can take a still picture quickly without having to switch modes. It will stop the video to take the picture. We'll have to see how this pans out as more info becomes available.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/1511...tml?tk=rss_news

Now, Canon's 5D Mark II transforms the landscape further by capturing 30 frames per second MPEG-4 video at 1920 by 1080p resolution. Canon says you can capture up to 12 minutes of high-def video with monoaural sound (approximately 4GB) or 29 minutes, 59 seconds of standard definition video. You can take a picture while recording a movie; the video stops while you snap a still, then it resumes recording. In addition to the built-in mono microphone, you can add an external stereo microphone. A Mini-HDMI port facilitates outputting video directly from the camera to an HDTV.

delobo uses Adobe Lightroom.

just heard the 50D has better high ISO performance than the D300.. had no idea it was that good. that is huge improvement.

Photomatix for HDR. I've recently heard Photoshop CS3 does a much better job (mainly, less noise). Going to try that next.

I don't really have a problem with Photomatix though, it does everything I need it to. Regarding the "glow".. you most likely should set Light Smoothing to the far right or the 2nd to far right setting. Try that out.

I posted a sample of a shot done in Lightroom (not HDR) - used to use that a lot, not really that much anymore.
