I would still move to Montreal because I love the city more than from the party aspect, but with Stereo closed, Montreal is in a weird position. Case in point, when people are booking the caliber of artists like David Morales and Victor Calderone at MILLENNIUM, then you know the city has problems. Saw VC @ that spot 2 weeks ago and it was so brutal! The club is in a MALL...A MALL...in the suburbs right next to a Zellers. The soundsystem is terrible. The crowd is suburban...with no interest in who the headlining DJ is. Opening DJ is playing hip hop remixes. A bright club with go go platforms. Horrible. That club sets Montreal back big time... As for Toronto, I think there are waaaaaaaay too many new locals being booked, not because they are any good at playing music, rather they can bring out a crowd and some places are slow so the owner is cool with booking what I call, "promoters that spin". There's a lot of promoters that spin in this city, calling themselves DJs and it's driving me crazy. I'm not knocking all new talent, don't get me wrong, but there was just this explosion of new DJs getting booked in some pretty good venues. Some people haven't even paid dues, aren't technically sound, etc. I don't want to hear someone that is hooked up spin, I want to see someone talented, or at the very least, someone who knows what they are doing... With the age of computers mixing for people and facebook invites it's only going to get worse in some aspects. People inviting me out to see so and so spin and I'm like "who?" And this person is one of the headliners??? In the same time, I think Toronto has a better (talking established wise) scene then New York and Montreal. I travel to Montreal often and am very up to date with New York, but we still have it better than those places right now. Pacha NYC, ugh...Millenium, Montreal...yikes...we at least have Guvernment and CiRCA...and look at October coming up...retarded, retarded parties on the agenda... |

I never really understood this drama business at clubs. You go out, listen to some music, dance with some people, share, hug, laugh, scream, go home. Either you are taking the event too seriously or just getting mixed up in stupid shit. Relax, its just music and dancing.
As for growing tired of the 'scene'. For me, it has been about money and energy. I find a night of partying so draining on my body and my wallet, that I just limit myself to more 'special' events, when I am willing to be exhausted the next day, a release if you will. I still download tonnes of sets, and buy as many albums as possible, just am very selective about who I pay to see live. Plus it is damn near impossible to hear trance downtown, that automatically limits how much I go out.
Since most of my close friends are not into EDM, I do not go out on regular nights, or most weekends. Kinda nice that way, as I can separate the two worlds.
my motto use to be 'i live to party'...now it's something like 'if in doubt, don't go out'....in the end, fewer memorable parties > numerous monotonous ones.
