An $80,000 salary per year is indicative of an upper-middle class lifestyle opportunity. It is above the realms by which commercially feasible, mass-produced luxury can adequately be afforded within a general sense. Of course this standard is not static, if that is your point, nor can a "better lifestyle" be properly quantified within material means by some perspectives, but what exactly are you arguing here? Effective salary above $50,000 a year is above "middle class" - does this ensure that these people get whatever they want all of the time or that they aren't heavy in debt? Of course not, it's merely a general guideline composite of financial opportunity rather than strict fiscal scenario.
But by all means, continue this course of condescending ignorance based almost entirely upon an article of opinion; the irony of which being that you are demanding facts in the face of circumstantial subjection.

Please, Guats are far more likely to hastily construct makeshift submarines from old porta-potties and invade through our coasts rather than heave their ponderous, Guacamole-filled bodies over a border fence. And that's certainly not to imply that they have any biological propensity for buoyancy either.

Probably not. Very few people will be rich.
When I say "rich," by the way, I mean someone who could stop working and live a comfortable lifestyle with few or no financial worries for the rest of their life. Not many people fall in that category. |
Okay, you completely missed my point.
"Rich" people do not use the term "rich".
It is a semi-derogatory, uncouth term that people not in the upper class use to describe the upper class.

I'm not trying to spite anyone by using the term. "Upper class" works just as well.
Besides, I frequently identify with the tastes of the upper class anyway, so why would I want to deride them?
