I got the biggest headache after I read that shit lol

zone and other afterhours are necessary part of society. take some sociology courses and you'll find out why

Posted by Ravist on Oct-28-2008 20:39:

if CZ closes another one or two afterhour clubs will open someplace else. Also anywhere where there's clubs there's going to be a sketch factor whether people use GHB, extacy, alcohol, etc

I got a serious question here..

has anyone taken a shit in CZ?? i have only gone #1 but #2 is a whole other story..

any insight to this matter?

So when the police went into the CZ and found the empty viles on the floor those were the employee's viles? The individual clients are the ones breaking the law.

The CZ has to show they are doing what a reasonable and prudent business, in this case a club, would do to prevent people from entering the club with illegal substances and doing illegal activities.

Like any club in Toronto, you are searched for any drugs and weapons...if you are caught then you either loose the items or you are not allowed into the club. If you are caught doing drugs or selling drugs you are removed from the club. If the club doesn't do anything when they see these activities then they should have to answer to whatever charges are appropriate. Yes, the CZ and many other clubs know there are drugs being done but if they don't catch you in the act then they can't do anything.

Are you suggesting that you've actually attempted such an accomplishment?

OH my god.... i think this is the first time on here when i actually agree with you

It's about time this shithole goes. I'm surprised its still kicking in a city like this

Posted by DannyPINK on Oct-28-2008 23:49:

Let's acknowledge, for argument sake, that people party at Zone, and like every other club in the world, a couple people get out of hand. Let's accept that and put it to the side.

Comfort Zone is an experience in and of itself. Unlike all of the other clubs in the city, with their lights and VIPs and bottle service, Zone's a dark basement with black lights and great acoustics for bass. Just on face value, it's not like any other club in the city.

It becomes about the music. It's almost primal. As the cop said, "They're in the zone."

Zone does have a reputation. Rightfully so! It serves the purpose of keeping randoms out. If you're afraid of Zone, good, stay away, very far! LOL

Now picture you have this club in the city, that's not like every other club. A place where u could go on a Sunday morning, in your pajamas and dance your ass off with a bunch of your friends listening to your favorite DJs spin and experiment with their sickest beats. You almost forget it's a club and think of it as a club-house.

If CZ closese in the next couple of years it will be missed, and nothing that anybody says about that place will make us think differently about it.

If CZ closes i see a lot of illegal after parties happening, the bad thing is these after parties are going to be hit and miss (i.e the one after adam bayer last year) but zone is always solid and you know even if there are 10 ppl on the dance floor the music is still going to be aweosme.

Isn't Skipper allowed to express her opinion? You people express negative opinions about things all the time on here but god forbid someone speaks negatively about your precious Zone.

Yes the music is great and I had my fun there but the place is still a shit hole. Having lived in the neighbourhood as well you can see the difference in sketch factors when it's open and when it isn't. Zone only attracts young business people? LOL have you seen the sketchy gangstas in Zone? Not people I would want wandering around my neighbourhood wacked out of their heads.

Unless someone wants to turn Zone into a Non-profit institution then you can't really compare it to CAMH or the homeless shelter next door.

My point about CAMH and the homeless shelter was that they make College and Spadina 'sketchy'... and that the Zone patrons dont actually cause any sort of harm anyone in the area... they just emerge from the black door at odd times of the day and usually hop straight into a cab.

This was in response to Skipper saying that the Zone made college and spadina more dangerous (or 'sketchy')

Based on your point, you cannot compare them on their motives, but you certainly can, and we have, compared the people who frequent the organizations.

Having biked, walked, street car'd past that intersection at all times of day/night, and all days of the week, the corner is sketch at any time. It could be a Tuesday at 4pm, it could be Friday at 2am, its always weird there.

There are just too many interacting factors there to completely blame the zone for that area's problems. The CAMH, the annex to the north, china town to the south, computer heaven to the west, and the uni to the east. Each invites its own cast of weirdo characters, and because the traffic is so heavy, your chances of seeing any of these people goes up.

Honestly, the downtown core of TO is filled with crazy people. Collage and Spadina isn't that different.

dont those places lower the land value significantly for that area? thus allowing an afterhours to exist?
