That was off the hook, the last FG was off the fucking hook. That kid will remember that for the rest of his life.

The best part about that last play was how they busted the press wide open, that pass to get him through 3 Pitt defenders and ahead of the press to go straight to the rim. What a play! I practically shouted when I saw it!

I was pulling for Nova, but secretly wanted Pitt to win, just for the potential of four 1-seeds in the final four.

I saw both games today.. that was some of the worst basketball i have ever seen ffs....

Posted by mezzir on Apr-05-2009 06:23:

God damn, the refs really REALLY didn't want to let Michigan State win that game.

But they're just that good. UConn is a bunch of thugs, don't get me wrong, but they are awesome basketball players. Hasheem Thabeet is the biggest, most intimidating presence in the post. Michigan State shut down Louisville and they shut down UConn. It will be interesting to see UNC vs Michigan State in the final game, they're both incredibly talented teams.

Michigan St-UCONN was awesome, but the UNC-Villanova game might just have been the most boring game I've ever seen.

funny, the buddy i was watchin it with was sayin the opposite- a lot of questionable shit that michigan state pulled that no one called

then again michigan state produced what? almost 3x the amount of fouls when compared to UCONN until the last few minutes of the game

O_o
Good lord that guy is a staunch UConn fan...at one point there were 33 fouls on Mich St and 11 on UConn. Like, there can be somewhat of a spread, but that was honestly one of the biggest spreads in fouls I've seen when it seemed both teams were playing relatively similarly.

this tournament was a bit boring imo, perhaps it would've been alot more exciting if there had been one 'cinderella' team along the way...

I think tonight will be a phenomenal game. Let's hope I'm right.

Agreed. I'm pulling for Michigan State, as Tyler Hansborough needs a few announcers and sports analysts around the country to stop slobbering over him.

I hate hansborough and UNC they need to lose
plus, i put 200 bucks on msu on the line

hahahahahahahahaha

Unless Michigan St. has some sort of miracle planned, UNC is going to run away with this one.

Ya that shit was boring...

fucking college sports and their lameness.

Posted by Deeks1187 on Apr-07-2009 05:09:

Thanks for showing up MSU honestly, not only did I lose some serious dough, you absolutely ruined the championship game. That was just awful basketball

Gotta say, overall I saw some of the shoddiest refereeing that i'd seen in a while in this tourney.

In baseball, iirc in the NL, pitchers have to bat, and in the AL, they don't. This is all fine and dandy, but note that during a game between a team from each, one set of rules applies, it isn't like each team plays by their own rules. Several times in this tournament I saw people like Lawson driving with their off hand held out as an extension of their body. Thats fine and is taken for granted, say in the ACC where Lawson plays. However, in a Big10 game that might be called as an offensive foul on the player keeping his arm out for pushing off, or a defensive foul on the defender for interfering with the ball handlers' body. Again, thats fine and dandy, and in their conference that would usually not be an issue. However, in several trans-conference games I saw in this tournament, it seemed like each team was being reffed by its conference's norms. Wasn't as much of an issue this game, but nonetheless MSU committed 5 fouls before UNC committed one, and they were both playing relatively equally. All game long Lawson would drive and jockey for position in the paint using his arms to increase his floor presence, but a few times on the other end Suton would use a similar move only to get called for a foul. All I ask is consistency, cause calling the game tight or loose is fine, but I really just didn't see much consistency :/
