I'm not attacking liquified at all either. I think Devin has done a great job bringing some good people to town. I know we have a good scene, but not a huge one. And honestly our choice of venues does seem to be limited. I don't know much about The Mark or Bazzar, but am assuming they are much to small to hold a world renowned dj. Where do you enjoy clubbing Maggie? I know you have also had grievances with Wetbar, so obviously the problem isn't just Opera. In my opinion, clubs just tend to have mean staff and snobby patrons. I'm surprised they don't have bouncers outside picking and choosing who is "hot" enough to go in.

And Romz, get a grip man. When you first started posting you seemed pretty cool, but recently you've been nothing but an ass. All we are saying is if there are a few people trying to meet their favorite dj and there is still some time before closing, why not let them stay?

You should just ignore him Zach.

No one has even said "omg i hate opera cuz they won't let me get teh autographz!"

It was just brought up as "If I had to say something bad about the staff at Opera, they are douche bags when it comes down to shaking the DJs hand and getting a picture."

He's just trying to insult people and cause trouble as usual.

I hate Opera because I'm sick of hearing about how much everyone hates Opera.

That place is like a miniature Opera without the assholes, super high booth, and WITH good sound. Had a great time there with James Zabiela!

at some point.

So, Charlotte has better clubs than Atlanta? That's interesting. If the right dj comes, I'm up for a road trip.

How sad for Atlanta if this is true.

That's what I was thinking. I mean, no offense to Charlotte, but it's not exactly the biggest city. Looks like they have a pretty good scene though.

Posted by Lostvission on Apr-07-2009 19:11:

Unfortunately HOM is now closed due to bad attendance. That place was truly epic. 2 floors of dancing and another floor of great eating. We don't have a good scene here really, we just have a bad ass promoter who vigorously promotes himself and refuses to see the Charlotte scene die. All our shows are currently being held at the forum, which im happy with although it was sad to see HOM go. Charlottes scene is basically larger trance acts and the cool kid movement electro djs. Those are basically the two main things being booked here. If i wanted some good house or techno, then i have to travel to Atlanta for a show at the Mark. Im excited to make it out there anyways. We do however have Nick Warren coming to a hole in the wall club here in May but the promoter is doing a horrible piss poor job of promoting it. No one even knows hes coming here which will be a sad day for Nick as he spins for a crowd of 30 people. I don't care, ill be one of the thirty with bells on.

Yep, I love the forum when acts like zabiela, schulz, sander, jxl etc. come through. The true fans show up in full force without the douchenozzles ruining all the fun. It never gets overpacked for acts like that, and it's extremely intimate. Of all the nights I've had at the forum, (which is a SHIT ton) the best night I've ever had there was when one+one came through. So epic.

Burridge at HOM was also insane. I'm gonna miss that place for class acts like burridge and having a complete blast.

I actually loved Wetbar and had a lot of respect up until... well, honestly, I started to lose faith when two of my friends were hassled for showing heterosexual PDA near a bathroom at Hybrid, but the ordeal at Deadmau5 was absolutely uncalled for... but enough about them...

In Atlanta, I enjoy... Masquerade. Dirty place, but large, considerate staff, considerate bartenders. Velvet Room, believe it or not... they've come around in the past year or two. Dreamz didn't do so bad, either, but I've heard from reliable sources that they're a bitch to work with as far as promotions, spinning, etc... but hey, they treat their customers well

I've only been to two.

But The Forum kicked the shit out of Opera. Hm was what I would believe to be a perfect club: open till sunrise with an afterhours, best sound I've heard, and a patio area.

As far as I know, Charlotte doesn't have anything like The Mark or Bazzaar, so I wouldn't say the city has a "better" nightlife than ours, especially since they don't get the names we do.

What about the mark ? I thought that place had great reviews from you guys...

Posted by iammesol on Apr-07-2009 21:06:

Forgot about Dreams! Man, if we could get a crowd to fill that entire place, that venue would be absolutely AMAZING.

When I went to the Mark, the promoters were great, the bartenders were some of my favorites, the crowd had one of the best vibe, and the staff were friendly. My only complaint was the sound quality. Because the club was underground and small, the high frequencies bounced off the walls and it became overwhelming. I had to use earplugs so the ringing in my ear would stop.

Everything here remains present.

And for those who would bitch about the highs, go away. You should always wear plugs

Yeh man, HOM is closed but rumor has it they are remodeling the space (keeping the sound system) and reopening. Some truth to this rumor was figured out when HOM did reopen to allow guest for the CIAA weekend (basically a cash cow weekend for any nightclub thats open).

Truth....someone who I guess is part of the remodel came into my bank a few weeks ago and told me all of this pretty much verbatim. I only went to HOM once...to see Kaskade. It was an odd night for me, almost like what's been described about this Opera place---so I am quite mixed about HOM....the sound was great, but I was stepped on, bumped into, and pushed all night long. I seemed to be the only one, other than Chris that was into Kaskade! I would be anxious to see what the 'new' HOM brings...

As for the The Forum...LOVE IT! I'm so comfortable there and I love pretty much everyone that shows up! Thank goodness for a great promoter that brings some pretty damn good DJ's quite frequently!!!!

I don't mind The Mark, I just don't recall any great nights there. I have been meaning to go back since it reopened... the venue is great, I just never went on a night with anything special.
