No, its an INTERNET standard.. sometimes if the person who is hosting them doesn't like it.. they will uhh change them to things. Now I know superwave wouldn't do that. But it is stealing either way.

superwave performer is one of the most powerful softsynths i've ever played with.. too bad there is a very large delay from when i press play and when it actually plays (5 seconds)... could it be a problem with the synth or my soundcard??

the problem which every superwave has is its too slow envelope, unfortunately, not good for fast trance melodies

try the demo... you'll be surprised
www.superwave.co.uk

btw, i'm in no way advertising for them or anything.. just from personal experience... i think the presets suck ass but if you get around to spending a bit of one-on-one time with that synth, you can achieve some impressive results...

Also, tranc3.. i believe that it is a lack of CPU processing power... the superwave pro is just a major CPU whore that's all... loading it takes forever as well

Atmosphere is awesome, no doubt about it.

I must say the superwave vsti's are great. The trance pro is the shit for making leads imo. They are all great.

Is it worth $399?

only problem with atmosphere is it's sample based.. which leads to hardware quality sound but you can't edit the sounds at all aside from ADSR.. for trance I would say you're better off getting a jp-8080 for 100 more than buying atmosphere..

stylus and trilogy are definitly not worth what they are asking for.. stylus is all loops and trilogy is 2/3 bass guitars..

theres 5 CDs for atmosphere. anyone know what each CD is for?

anyone know what synth is good for progressive music?

Posted by alanzo on May-22-2004 04:56:

each CD is part of it's 3gb data file that holds all the sample data..

Hi,

I'm looking for a good softsynth for making stings..Which one is good and where can I get a demo?

Posted by Thirteen on Jul-06-2004 16:17:

Strings

For the most part, to get great string sounds, you need sampled strings. So a great string library is where its at. Atmosphere is awesome. Halion String Edition is pretty nice. Sampletank is great as well. Just wanted to clarify that you can't make strings, i.e. synthesize them. At least not yet.

Good luck.

It's not easy but it is possible.

For strings, Edirol HQ orchestral is a nice program with a decent sound to it.

As for Atmosphere only having ADSR, that's pushing it a bit. You can do more to the sound than just fiddle with the envelope, although compared to most programs, it is relatively inflexible. The thing about it is that the sounds are soo bloody good, they can often go straight in. The patches are a combination of sounds so you control the level of these sounds to make the patch. I guess really this just makes it a 2x multitimbral sample player. Who cares though, it sounds great.

additional softsynths

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your extensive rundown on soft synths. I'd like to add two that I use a lot on commercial remixes / productions.

1. ImpOSCar (http://www.gmediamusic.com/)

and

2. Oddity (also http://www.gmediamusic.com/)

They sound as fat as it gets and blend well with the mix. Have fun!

Little help please...

Ok i need a little help ,with making a good Trance production, i make a lot of good melody's and other stuff, but i have problems with making good kicks and basslines,i don't have nice machines for this, ok i have the Vanguard and pro 53,so if somebody have a few good tips for me...let me please know .

Posted by Pompel on Jul-22-2004 13:53:

- Knowledge about your vst synths so you know which parameter does what. I would say this is your staring point. Often you can use the vsti's native features/fx to tweak the sound pretty much how you like it. So tweak those knobs, learn.

- Paramteric EQ. Unless you blindly build a tune around a certain sound, be it a kick, you need to tweak the frequencies to make it sit right in the mix. You will almost certainly need to cut/boost frequencies in a bassline to make it sound just right. Disregard any tips you've read saying you shouldn't boost frequencies, it's bull. It's all about how you want it to sound. Oh, and don't overdo eq'ing on kicks. A gentle lift around the 100hz mark is often enough if you want a bit more punch to a flat kick.

- Compressors. For kicks and bass. To bring up the quieter parts in a sequence (densening the sound), add snap to attacks.

- Detuner. For bassline, if not applicable in native synth. A free detuner would be mda Detune, which is quite good. This is of course no must-use, but will help you phatten up a sound you like, but just doesn't sounds as phat as you'd like.

Chorus/flanger/phaser. For bass. Does pretty much the same as detune, but to more or less extreme.

- A nice collection of sample cd's. For kicks. 99.98% of kicks are wrong for you or complete crap, so needless to say you need samples and more samples.

- Lastly I will point back to the first paragraph, just to underline the importance of it

A few pointers.

i understand this all, still learning offcourse, but i'm working with fruityloops and for kicks i only have Fruity drumsynth and for basslines i use the Vanguard,...where can i find good samples for kicks ? And that compressor of fruityloops ,makes not to many difference

Vanguard comes pretty close to those basslines i want, but just not that i want, maybe it's my fault ' ok is it possible to make a bassline with the Vanguard like Mat Silver vs. Tony Burt - Waimea,Thrillseekers,Aalto - Taurine(super8 rmx),Above & Beyond..that kind of stuff ???

Posted by osum-possum on Jul-24-2004 23:02:

do a search for these 2 topics....there are plenty of threads that discuss layering and compression of kicks and creating basslines
