Sushi.

Maybe if there could be some sort of system where you get credits by posting comments about other people's tracks and you have to have three credits before starting your own thread or something. I dunno, I stopped visiting there a year ago or something. |
Appointing a mod is one thing, but completely redesigning the forum would be a huge fuck-around, and that's assuming vBulletin actually has plug-ins that would allow for the type of thing you're suggesting.
One isn't enough and you wouldn't be able to mod the production forum as a primary anyway. I'm all for letting you have the power if needed but we need another production forum regular to act as the head mod of production. Ideally we'd have 3 covering all timezones. US/EU/AUS.

I think that's better. That way the mods will stick to their own designated areas but will have the power to mod the other section if they are needed.

Wow. Want to thank swamper for doing this - the production forum especially has been hurting in recent months(even years) and some active mods will go a long way to making it even better.
I haven't read the whole thread (as I'm 6,000 miles away from home on a dial-up connection which aint fast for loading TA) but the suggestions on the first page seem to be on the money.
I think any of the regulars would be a good choice (you know who you are), especially Eric J, Cryo, StoryT, Acton, DigiNut, Kit, Echo, JiveBo, etc, but I reckon it has to be people who have been around for a while - often mods move on and leave it unmoderated and someone who's been on here a long while is less likely to disappear.
Hmmmm, I wonder if this anything to do with the conversation I had about a week ago with Bas (West cost forums mod) about the lack of mods in this section? He said he was gonna fix it.....Bas if you're reading this and you did it, a million thanks bro.
Please people - don't let this thread get silly, it needs to be useful for swamper so we actually end up with some mods.
Someone please reference/bump the Poll and nomination threads from a couple of months back which had the names.
while you're at it, how about a mod for the tech/gadgets section? either that or just delete it. it's at 499 threads, probably 10 of which aren't spam.

I can moderate the producer studio if needed. I ran www.gomiddle.com which is a rivals based recruiting website for two years. (I went to middle tennessee state) so I have quite a bit of experience when it comes to moderating boards and in particular extreme flamers (football is a religion is the south east) - only the producer's studio though
Stephen would be an awesome mod, his topics and posts in there are really good he knows his stuff!
My preverbal vote goes to him!

| Originally posted by Beatflux I would nominate: Diginut, RichieV, Cryophonik, and DJstephenwiley. I know Cryo said it wouldn't want to mod last time I heard, but maybe he has changed his mind. |
Wow.. lots of response to this (and PMs to me too!)
There will be at least 2 mods and we can see how it works out... if it becomes a really close decision I'll consider 3.
I'll be in contact during the week with some of the names mentioned here. Thanks everyone.
This should be interesting.

| Originally posted by woscar Yeah, I know what you mean. The DJ Promotion forum doesn't get much stupidity and childishness really, it's mostly spam, radio shows, off-topic threads, and such. I'm not a huge fan of banning people just for the sake of it, that's actually one of the things I like about TA. Just today, I made a comment on Mercury Server's Jamie Jones Essential Mix thread asking why they had the set labeled as "Electro" and a mod came back with "That's the way I got the set, and don't see the need to change it. If that's such a big concern of yours, then maybe you should go get laid". LOL I replied, "Not concerned at all, just pointing out that the label is misleading, since this is nowhere near electro. And that's a really nice attitude you have...being a mod and all ". 5 minutes later, he deleted all the comments, labeled the set "House", and closed the thread, LOL. That's exactly the type of modding I hate. It looks like a gay. |
Thanks Swamper. We have needed a mod for quite some time. Mostly just to control the spam bots or whatever they are trying to sell viagra. There is rarely a thread that gets out of hand but I think with a moderator now in place people will think a bit more before going down that road so they'll become even more rare. I think your approach of at least two moderators is the right way to do it. Checks and balances are always important. Thanks again.
