that, and mods are notorious for participating less and less as time goes by- look at the c0r mods for example. half the mods aren't active anymore.

And thats patently fucking inadequate isn't it. I think we need at least 2-3 mods for the production studio. If they happen to cross over with the DJ booth or promo forums mods as well, thats fine.

But having glanced at the promo forum, I really think that whole forum is a waste of time and needs completely redesigning, or at the very least quite a few mods given its size. Maybe if there could be some sort of system where you get credits by posting comments about other people's tracks and you have to have three credits before starting your own thread or something. I dunno, I stopped visiting there a year ago or something.

That's as may be, but if Swamper only wants to appoint one mod, then I think it's better than none at all, wouldn't you say?

Come on mate, do you really think that's going to happen? Appointing a mod is one thing, but completely redesigning the forum would be a huge fuck-around, and that's assuming vBulletin actually has plug-ins that would allow for the type of thing you're suggesting.

Posted by Fledz on Oct-10-2009 06:17:

One isn't enough and you wouldn't be able to mod the production forum as a primary anyway. I'm all for letting you have the power if needed but we need another production forum regular to act as the head mod of production. Ideally we'd have 3 covering all timezones. US/EU/AUS.

I wasn't offering to moderate for either of the production forums mate, just for DJ promo, and DJ booth if that comes with the job

I think a few people are getting confused here, not realising that this thread is appearing across all four of the DJ/Producer forums.

it was suggested that there be 2 mods across all four forums (although most people have dissed it now).. so it's kinda understandable confusion

agree with this though:

swamper's giving us something we need, no need to go overboard here (look a gift horse in the mouth and whatnot), we're discussing a couple of mods not a reconstruction of the whole system...

i'm really happy just having one mod in the production forum to clean up the shit once a day, or once every couple days... better than what we have now: Anything extra is just brandy

sushi for dj promo and dj booth

I know that you bender. I was just saying that one or two mods for all of the forums just won't work. Better to split them

I meant more for the timezone. Aus tz includes Asia as well. EU includes Africa. US include South America too. That way you have maximum coverage by mods.

Hmmmm, a little ambiguous, you're right

Reading that again, it does seem to imply that 2 extra mods would be modding all 4, just each with a specific focus on either DJ or Production?

At first I kind of figured there would be 1 mod for the DJ section, and 1 mod for the Production section.

Mod crossovers wouldn't be much of an issue though, surely.

Clear this up for us Swamper!

Posted by Fledz on Oct-10-2009 07:56:

I think that's better. That way the mods will stick to their own designated areas but will have the power to mod the other section if they are needed.

Wow. Want to thank swamper for doing this - the production forum especially has been hurting in recent months(even years) and some active mods will go a long way to making it even better.

I haven't read the whole thread (as I'm 6,000 miles away from home on a dial-up connection which aint fast for loading TA) but the suggestions on the first page seem to be on the money.

I think any of the regulars would be a good choice (you know who you are), especially Eric J, Cryo, StoryT, Acton, DigiNut, Kit, Echo, JiveBo, etc, but I reckon it has to be people who have been around for a while - often mods move on and leave it unmoderated and someone who's been on here a long while is less likely to disappear.

Hmmmm, I wonder if this anything to do with the conversation I had about a week ago with Bas (West cost forums mod) about the lack of mods in this section? He said he was gonna fix it.....Bas if you're reading this and you did it, a million thanks bro.

Please people - don't let this thread get silly, it needs to be useful for swamper so we actually end up with some mods.

Someone please reference/bump the Poll and nomination threads from a couple of months back which had the names.

while you're at it, how about a mod for the tech/gadgets section? either that or just delete it. it's at 499 threads, probably 10 of which aren't spam.

But that's where all the spambots got to discuss their wares, give each other encouragement, and talk about their feelings. It seems a shame to take that away from them, poor little things

Spambots are people too, wait........

I can moderate the producer studio if needed. I ran www.gomiddle.com which is a rivals based recruiting website for two years. (I went to middle tennessee state) so I have quite a bit of experience when it comes to moderating boards and in particular extreme flamers (football is a religion is the south east) - only the producer's studio though

Stephen would be an awesome mod, his topics and posts in there are really good he knows his stuff!

My preverbal vote goes to him!

I know Cryo said it wouldn't want to mod last time I heard, but maybe he has changed his mind.

I agree with the last 3 mentioned.

All 3 are very objective, intelligent and smart individuals.

Wow.. lots of response to this (and PMs to me too!)

There will be at least 2 mods and we can see how it works out... if it becomes a really close decision I'll consider 3.

I'll be in contact during the week with some of the names mentioned here. Thanks everyone.

This should be interesting.

I trust you'll make the right decision!

Vote Sushipunk!

Just today, I made a comment on Mercury Server's Jamie Jones Essential Mix thread asking why they had the set labeled as "Electro" and a mod came back with "That's the way I got the set, and don't see the need to change it. If that's such a big concern of yours, then maybe you should go get laid". LOL

I replied, "Not concerned at all, just pointing out that the label is misleading, since this is nowhere near electro. And that's a really nice attitude you have...being a mod and all ". 5 minutes later, he deleted all the comments, labeled the set "House", and closed the thread, LOL. That's exactly the type of modding I hate. It looks like a gay.

LOL who was it

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Oct-11-2009 06:19:

Thanks Swamper. We have needed a mod for quite some time. Mostly just to control the spam bots or whatever they are trying to sell viagra. There is rarely a thread that gets out of hand but I think with a moderator now in place people will think a bit more before going down that road so they'll become even more rare. I think your approach of at least two moderators is the right way to do it. Checks and balances are always important. Thanks again.
