Lol @ the "No Sitting on the Dance Floor at any Time" on the timeslot flyer.

Henry, please get rid of those stupid insomniac cards. They were more of a pain in the butt than help. I kept getting fustrated having to go back in line and wait to refill it each time after I didnt have enough on it to buy drinks.

And where was the EDC teaser card? I got cards for every event BUT EDC

i think the lineup has been set in stone already, so why give a tease? maybe they gave those out at last months event.
not a fan of massives, so really no interest in edc, but i know axwell will be there and i believe Luke as well.

Yea, the event cards sucked. But overall, awesome night!

Posted by modthispny on Mar-21-2010 23:41:

so any news on the trance lineup for EDC?

Posted by costizzle on Mar-22-2010 01:44:

event cards were such a crock of shit. insomniac = greedy bastards.

otherwise sick event. sander van doorn threw it the fuck down...i love it when he comes into town.

CL threw it down to..the first hour of his set was so raw. loved it

Lastly i feel like my brain had a one night stand with Groove Armada last night. They straight killed it. Those guys are gods on the turntables.

Maybe he didn't know he could get the unused portion on the card back? Or the process wasn't convenient for people? Just guessing here. We didn't use the card system.

Here's my short and limited experience of the night:

THE GOOD
- SvD RAWKED as usual
- Mainstage location/setup was great. Insomniac should have the same layout in all of their future NOS events
- Two windows open for guestlist and no line at all when we got there around 10:45pm. The usual depressed guestlist girl who seems to hate her life wasn't working in either window so that might be the reason too for no lines

THE BAD
- Parking charge had gone up to $20
- Girls' "bathrooms" looked too scary so I'm glad we didn't have to use them
- It made no sense to have SvD play before PvD because the energy went just downhill when PvD got on the decks, but of course the set times never make sense at these kinds of raves
- PvD's set was too fluffy
- Insomniac had their guestlist info wrong but this happens a lot at their events so I was prepared

All those negatives were pretty minor so we still had a lot of fun. Did I mention Sander kicked ass? Btw, nice meeting doubleA, Johnny Monsoon and Michael!

Had a blast!!!

I didn't even realize it was sold out when we got there and 2 people that I was with didn't have tickets. They bought some off this guy on the sreet and as soon as they showed them too me I realized they were fake. Good fakes though. There was only one flaw I saw that was easily noticable. Luckily we went to give our tickets to an older gentlemen who didn't even examine the tickets and we all got in. Would have been a real downer if some of us had to go home.

Anyways. I'll keep it short and sweet. Sander killed it!! as did Groove Armada, Wippenberg, CL, and Robbie for what I saw of the end of his set.

Nice meeting you as well! Sander did in fact kill it... but I don't know what you're talking about with the fluffy stuff
We'll have to agree to disagree!

I'll be in Miami on Friday/Saturday at Space, and then will be catching SvD again at Perfect's night in Vegas on 4/24... Are you planning on catching either show?

Til next time!

The music was great, I wasn't even considering this event until the very last minute, one of my friends couldn't make it so he sold me his ticket for cheap. Like another poster said, my only complaint is that SVD should've played after PVD because the energy wasn't there (similar to edc with PVD and Guetta). After Saturday, I will def be checking out SVD when he comes to the OC in April, hope to see some of you guys there!

I personally didn't have any problems, but Insomniac really needs to get their **** together when it comes to security and what you can and cannot bring in. A buddy of mine wasn't allowed to bring his camera in so we had to walk all the way back to the car so he could return in. As I was going in the second time, I saw security take some guys backpack from him. Apparently he had his keys in there, and kept repeating that to the security, but instead of returning it to him the security guard got one of the cops over and threatened to kick him out. I'm not sure what ended up happening but hopefully he got the keys back.

I could careless about bringing in things like back packs, cameras, glow sticks, etc, but Insomniac really needs to enforce their rules better. If they say NO BACKPACKS, then take away EVERYONES backpacks. Same with cameras, obviously they didn't confiscate everyones cameras because there are some pretty good videos on youtube of the event already.

I would love to know why there is a card system now, it's highly inconvenient. How many people actually bothered to get their money back at the end of the night when they are tired from dancing? Great way to make some money Insomniac. Also my friend gave his card to get a bottle of water but the idiots operating the water cart gave his back to someone else, nice. Also saw some guy walking past me after he got stabbed in the shoulder while in line. More security maybe?

The music was pretty good, the tent was great. Queens Domain was way too hot. As much as I wanted to see Bart B More I just couldn't stay in there for too long. SVD was great, and PVD was better then his usual boring set. But coming back at the end to play Seven Nation Army for 5 seconds was a dick move. But he was nice enough to stick around to sign some tickets.... too bad no two signatures on any tickets actually matched, mine and my friends' looks completely different. Any word on EDC line up?

They kicked everyone out before everyone could get their money back. And all they had was a tiny window handling the matter.

Look, I don't see the advantage of having it. It makes you wait twice as long and look retarded having to run back to reload it after having just waited 30 minutes. I swear the thing stole at least 8 or 9 dollars because of an error by the handlers. Just stick to what's worked for over 5000 years: Cash. You know damn right they won't be able to handle this for over 100k people at EDC. I have the highest respect for Insomniacs. This is their first error and I hope they have the brains to fix their mistake and get rid of their cards

NEED TRACK ID PLEASE!!!!

Posted by Earn on Mar-23-2010 04:18:

I rather like the card idea, but it would be better if it were optional rather than mandatory. I put just enough on my card where I didn't need to worry adding more money and having extra, but I could see the long lines at the reloading stations, not to mention the extra time it took to pay with the cards, amounting to longer lines in general.

Any idea why they weren't allowing any gloves into the venue? They let people bring in photon lights, but not gloves? New rules or something?

And what happened with the laser art piece thing? I checked out and was so disappointed, pretty sure it was broken when I got there.

I had a good time despite the small qualms. SVD was amazing, glad I got to see him live finally.

Posted by zerotonin79 on Mar-23-2010 04:43:

yeah the card idea was terrible and reeks of money grubbing. i could see if that card was reusable for future events it could be something possibly good but according to the back of the card, its not.

i knew better and didn't bother but my lady friend got one and left without getting her 5 dollar balance back. really nothing in the big scheme of things but i bet Insomniac was counting on that...

also i heard some people complaining that the refund issuers were low balling the amounts on the card and when called on it, they gave back the full refund. not a good system at all. and as stated above, the lines to the concessions were in fact longer thus negating any added benefit.

fun party for sure, but i will boycott any future Insomniac events if they include this crooked system. im sure there will be other noobs waiting to take my place but its a stand on principle in a scene that is increasingly lacking in them.

That's def some remix of Robbie Rivera - Float Away. I don't recall which remix of it 100%, but if it's a release remixed it might be the Brian Cross remix. My bet, though, is that it's an unrelease remixed.

The track is actually very old. 7 or 8 years old. But I remember how most of the remixes I wanted didn't come out until the past couple years, though I heard them years ago.

I love the track. Gabriel & Dresden did a pretty awesome remix of the track.

From the BW website:
"This Saturday, everything at Beyond Wonderland will be purchased with THE INSOMNIAC CARD! You can use the card to buy merch, food & drinks anywhere within Beyond Wonderland. You can also use it at the Beyond Wonderland general store. The cards are easy and convenient and allow one to avoid waiting in the long lines caused by making change and paying in cash. You can add any amount of money to the card you want. This means you only need to pull out your cash once at the beginning of the festival and never have to wait in long ATM lines! After the event you receive a full refund for any un-spent money on the card its super easy!

Look for the Insomniac Card booths inside Beyond Wonderland. Insomniac Cards will also be available prior to the gates opening so you can fill up your card before you even enter the event!

At Beyond Wonderland we're going cashless with THE INSOMNIAC CARD! We think it will help create a more pleasant experience everyone. We hope you enjoy it!"

They use a similar system at Trance Energy in Holland (30000-40000 people) every year and it works fine. Instead of a card you get tokens and you buy your drinks and food with them but you don't get a refund if you have leftover tokens at the end of the night. I've got a bunch of them laying around my house but I don't care because TE is always worth every penny! They always have several token booths at the venue and the drinks are pre-poured so not really any lines anywhere.
