Next time I'll make sure I've got more time to spend with u peeps in Amsterdam!

A big shoutout to Daphna for being so prepared and doing some much Amsterdam research Maybe we should rent a paddleboat next time Respect gurl!!

Dancevalley was not at all what I expected it to be! It was fun hanging around wiv Lam, Nat, Tim and Ant but it just didn;t do it for me this year! The only times people were enthusiastically screaming was when the sun broke thru the clouds!!
I haven't seen many djs...felt like I was walking most of the time...
I thought the whole DV atmosphere sucked. It seemed no-one was in a partymood (some exceptions ofcourse). It wasn't like the Loveparade, where we had rain aswell..but people were still dancing and whistling and lifting their hands....I missed that

Ah well...I sprained my ankle during Scot P - Thunder in Paradise as I was going NUTS and I had an encounter wiv a plastic bottle of some kind I think.. GRRRR It's as big as a tennisball atm

Anyway...I hope Mysteryland will have a better crowd :s

X to Magrec and Basvh (didn't meet u unfortunately)

peace out

hehe hi there girlie!

Well we had some problems about meeting up at AvB didn't we! LOL I don't think I saw u after Scot Project But at least i met u for more than five minutes this time, not like Love Parade!

Dancevalley was real fun, I don't think I've ever been that muddy ever! But it was annoying that we had to walk for AGES just to get to the main entrance!

I got loadsa nice pics, mainly of AMsterdam Coffee Shops, and the highlight of the trip was meeting Maxi Jazz and Sister Bliss! They are some real cool people!

But back to DV...

Scot Project was excellent, his set was very simlar to his Gods Kitchen Global Gathering one which made me very happy cos that was good as well! I want to know the ID for a tune tho. Not entirely sure what it is, but it has a bassline similar to Overdrive, but has a sectio of the track that sounds like part of Flight 643. Another thing is it had a vocal bit that was saying something about "going into outer space"??

After that we went and saw Armin and Ferry, from outside the tent, as it was pretty sweaty in there! When they were playing B2B, it was fantastic, what a classic set!

Ferry was good as well, but not quite as uplifting as at GKGG. It was here that I somehow met up with IAn and Daphna, after they missed the meetup outside Centraal Station (or we missed them, it depends how u look at it!) Then after that, I think we saw A bit of Sister Bliss, then went to Mainstage to see Dave Calrke, and then went back to Sister Bliss. She is really short! (makes her cuter )

AFter that we made the long journey thru the mud back to the buses, and got back to hotel to prepeare for the H.I.P after party which was co-promoted by Ian. But they didn't turn up so me and Nat left adn went back to the hotel for sleep.

Josta we couldn't meet up with u on Sunday cos you dind't get my SMS? Sorry baby! WE did a bit more shopping, and had some more coffee and then we got the flight back last night.

Nathalie is in Israel now, without her luggage, cos Easyjet lost/forgot to bring it with them , so it wasn't too nice for her. Fortuantely I had some of her stuff at my house so that eased the pain

We didn't manage to meet up with the Dutch TA's so that was it would have been cool to meet you guys! DV 2003 perhaps... minus the rain!

PEACE!

Finally, I'm at a computer....

I'm sorry we didn't get to the TA meetup at this event- it would have been so special. We spent way too long waiting around at the train station for Redeye & Twilogoddess, who apparently had gone ahead without calling us (learn to use a phone, guys!). The only Dutch TA's we met were Miss Proximus & New Wave, & they're great.

I had a great time there, despite the weather, mud, and the couple hours in the beginning of my mushroom trip (which was a bad idea to do in a foreign land, on a cloudy day, in a pit of mud listening to the likes of Andy Farley, by the way...!). Somehow I managed to see almost everyone on my list that I wanted to see, but as susual with these big events, u can never spend a long time listening to just one act, cuz there's usually someone else to see at the same time.

My favorite tune of the day goes to Scumfrog for his remix of "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas, which he played for the 1st time ever at DV. His parents were also dancing in the crowd with us, which was so cute. I was happy to catch some DJ's that will be near impossible to see in North America (Tom Harding, Yoji Biomehanika, & Umek). I encountered lots of very friendly people at DV (thank you for making my day), & met a guy from Dallas, TX (thanks for the free cd). We even ran into a friend from New York when we were taking the train home (small world!!).
Luckily, there were no nightmares with the transportation this year (that I know of, as I don't speak Dutch, so who knows what else has been written about this party? )- we were just surprised with the long walk to the event. That party was HUGE! I've never seen so many people so closely together at an outdoor event like that. I can't wait to see my pictures. And I can't wait to get my luggage.... Damn you, Easy Jet for not even aswering your phone lines!!!!! Lam, I would be lost without you... Thanks for all your help with that matter.
I can't wait to get back to Holland again for more parties. I hope Josta will be back from her African safaris by that time...
-Nat

Dancevalley was a unique experience! It started out wet, bleak, and dreary. Ian & I were standing under an umbrella at Sasha at the mainstage which was NOT in a tent. We were w/a group of ppl, they left to go to a tent w/some no name DJ. I said no we are staying to hear Sasha! There were about 50 ppl there. The sun started to break through the clouds and sasha started to play harder & faster. The music was in sync with the weather. The sun came out and the crowd grew rapidly. We closed the umbrella looked out at the sea of ppl that had congregated infront of Sasha. The pivotal moment was when he dropped Expander vs. Underworld Cowgirl. I don't understand y they put him on at 2pm and Scot Project at 3:30pm. It was way too early for him. He closed at Gkgg.
The Eurogrooves tent was incredible. Excellent sound! This festival was MASSIVE. 80,000 ppl! I've neva experienced anything so intense and overwhelming. Treking around in the mud was DISGUSTING. we were Swampers. Umek was awesome! It was a long ass day. Dancing on grass is difficult, sliding and shloshing around in the mud is just gross. But we were there for the music. Thats all that matters.

Josta, it was so great meeting you and your bf. Sorry we didn't see you at dancevalley. Until Next year!

I LOVE THE DUTCH! A'dam is an incredible city!

Posted by MaGiK54 on Aug-09-2002 15:00:

I almost did go crazy.... what a bad idea. But I think New Wave had a fun time messing with my head.... he at least made me laugh, which distracted me momentarily from the HELL I was in.
