Had a chance to thoroughly test out the N99 today for ther first time. Previously i always had only a few minutes to play with the damn thing but today i managed to spend some time with the device. To make the experience sweeter it had a Debian installed. I must say im quite impressed, not enough to actually buy the N900 but one or two generations down the line...quite possibly.
While the hardware is good enough for the default OS, when youre running Debian and playing around with open office, gimp, dosbox... you just want something more. I think i read on engadget a while ago that Nokia will also put the new ultra fast Snapdragon CPUs in its high end devices. If that news was true than there are few things that are more win than that. The only thing besides a faster cpu that i desire is a bigger scren. I was quite satisfied with the screen on my E71, then i made the mistake of playing around with the HD2. While the other WinMo or Android devices with their smaller screens never did that much to impress me i just cant forget the HD2. So a bigger screen and faster hardware and i could forget all abouot jumping on board with Android and stay with with Nokia MeeGo OS (those being the only two true smart phone choices oput there)

Also the N900 is actually better than the current snapdragons, wait for the Evo4 if you want better (it is though, HMDI out!). |

Also, im the type of person that doesn't really mind if someone im waiting for is really really late and thats because what i do is whip out my mobile, start up an emulator and start playing good old videogames. I know the N900 runs SNES, NES, posibly GBA emulators just fine...but they work fine on my E71 as it is. But the HD2 offers full speed Playstation 1 emulation and that is just to tempting for a geek like me. My date is late as usual? Fuck her, lets sit down and play some Crash Bandicoot or Gran Turismo instead. And while ive seen psx emulation on the N900, its nowhere near fast enough at this time. Thats why i will consider switching platfors (seeing as how WinMo is basically dead) when wee see the N900 successors. Rumours of new high speed snapdragons in high end nokias (1.2Ghz, possibly more + a decent graphics chip) and please please please a bigger screen, and im sold on it.

| Originally posted by Scottaculous Meh, I'm not a phone chatter so $40 will be great for me. I can pay back a $600 phone in 8 months with the difference in payment plans instead of a $200 phone with 2 year contract of $90/mo. |
Does anyone here know if the Nokia 5130 can do this:
-set any mp3 file as the ring tone
-set any mp3 file as the message tone

Current phone...
Nexus One (T-Mobile version)
Next phone probably be the Samsung Galaxy S only if it comes with FroYo and if not I'll just get the iPhone 4.
Hopefully in the upcoming months Google releases an updated version of the Nexus so I could get that one also.
Man I spend way to much money on cell phones and all I do is just sms
Upgraded to this a month ago. I used to have a shitty free phone I had gotten when I made a contract with T-Mobile.
Only thing my phone is missing is internet. Soon, hopefully
I do think we pay too much though. 2 lines, 600 minutes a month, unlimited text and my faves = $110 a month. My contract ends in July though, so perhaps we'll switch to the unlimited plan or something. I don't really talk much on the phone (well I used to talk to my bf a lot but we're not together anymore). When I do, it's after 9 so it's unlimited. I really just want unlimited text and internet. I barely use my faves, too.

You don't have to stick to the same plan for the length of the contract. And if you think that is "too much" I spend $90 a month on my phone. So no complaints. ![]() Nexus One already has Froyo. Not sure what you are worried about. As for the Galaxy S, from what I am aware of, it is coming with Eclair and will be updated to Froyo this year. |

I should have an HTC Incredible by July. I went in today to ask about my eligibility and they said the phone is on back order until the 28th of June. I'm due for an upgrade in July to let me get the phone for $150 with a two-year contract. Shityeahhhhhh
