He usually doesn't. And when he does, he clings on one word/claim taken out of context or just plain misses the point completely.

Yeah I'm serious. I really think you overestimate the size of the Armada twitter crowd...I don't think it's that big as it seems.

Of course it isn't, but what difference does that make? This stuff is still trendy to them and they're eating it up, that's why it's being made.

I'd never even heard of these tracks or even some of the producers until today.

Do you really think the Armada twitter crowd is going to Beatport and buying these tracks? I really don't think so.

And how does liking a particular sound all the of sudden make it trendy?

You can't do it, can you?

Here's a short list of things wrong with your argument.

1. You're brassily claiming every melody is "100% different" when really you don't have a fucking clue how true that is. Over the course of those 50 tracks, quite a few of them could actually be identical to earlier examples.
2. The video is titled Similarities. Do you know what that word means? It doesn't mean "exact same melody, non-stop". Your argument is a strawman. Do you know what that word means?
3. You're stupid enough to bluff having factual evidence that you can't actually produce, and then stupid enough to backtrack from "Write it out yourself for proof" to "It doesn't need writing out, it's so obvious" when you get called on your stupidity.

Does your school offer classes in logic and debate, kid?

Why the fuck would the tracks get made or released if nobody bought them?

I don't even know what you mean by this.

the money is not in the music itself so much as in the branding and the events.

not to mention licensing and such.

True enough - replace "bought" with "listened to" in the previous statement.

You're saying that because a lot of people listen to ASOT, then that particular sound is trendy.

Yes, to that particular crowd, like I already said. What is your point?

My point is that the amount of listeners to a particular DJ who plays this sound has no relation to how trendy it is.

Just because Armin might play 1-2 tracks like this each show (out of a two hour format) doesn't mean it's trendy.

Posted by Goebbel Goebbel on Oct-16-2010 18:53:

man for someone who says he doesn't do any drugs, you sure have opinions that make no sense and make us wonder what you are smoking.

So basically you're saying the amount of similar tracks being produced is purely a coincidence?

You do realise there are not 50 musical keys? I'm pretty sure there aren't even 50 unique scales. How is it fucking possible for these tracks to be "100% different"? Many of them will share the root note, which is 50% of a "two note pattern" as you call it.

And trust me, "I've listened to 50 tracks one after the other and I'm pretty sure none of them use the exact same notes" is not proof. You'd be thrown out of court with such evidence. You offered proof, but you can't actually provide it. And you don't know. You don't have relative pitch, do you?

2) If you're trying to back the argument of "they all sound similar", this question/claim is irrelevant to that cause.

I'm not trying to back that argument. I'm pointing out flaws in your argument, namely that your entire case is a strawman. Do you know what that word means?

3) I'm smart enough to not waste time pointing out the obvious for a bored troll who is simply arguing for the sake of arguing.

You're not smart enough to avoid contradicting yourself. And you've wasted time replying to every post I've made in this thread, and you'll reply to this one as well.

Is easy. If many people listen to something it means that thing is good.

yo homie. let's put into different terms.

you've moved from calling those melodies "two note patterns" 100 posts ago to admitting that they are melodies. the next step is to see how blatantly similar they are. that's the entire point. these are so similar, there shape is so set, the progression and development from one point to another so linear, that ON PAPER, where you can keep track of how they develop over time, they will look fundamentally the same, with slight deviations.

do you know what "transposition" in music means? its when you take a certain progression, like a melody, and then move it up or down a given scale. the "melody" will be the same, but "transposed" upwards or downwards. the pitches will be different, but the melody is the same.

"pitch" in music is relative. melody describes only the shape of a pattern of notes, not the notes themselves, aka not pitch.

even if the surrounding harmonies or accompanying melodies are different in each of these songs, they all have the same shape maybe transposed to the background harmont, maybe in the forefront with the melody, maybe switching keys midstream, and other variations. but they revolve around a central progression that's highlighted in the video.

i don't think there are. but there are uncounted numbers of musical modes, that constitute the bulk of difference between regions. they could happen along the same scale, with variation on which notes get included and specific tuning.

prolly in the future there will be studies that identify the modes used in trance, etc.

Funny thing is you fed a blatant troll the post after this. Osterzone isn't a troll, he's an ignorant and stubborn kid who in five years time won't be listening to any of this music he's defending so vehemently. He's like me when I was 15, basically, and I'm glad people were there to kick my ass rather than let me walk around thinking I was actually right.

I personally liked some of her's previous works: "sometimes", "oops, I did it again", "Baby one more time" etc..."

And if so many people are still following her means that her music is appealing, pleasant, catchy, good...

it has nothing at all to do with the tabloid attention...like not at fucking all.

why don't you go to a site that is more your level in terms of intelligence...like trance.nu.
