You'll see. I'm graduating on a business plan for a record label which has alternative ways of making money with music and alternative ways of spreading it. These two combined will make a unique platform that as such does not exist yet but is very viable. There's plenty oppurtunities out there if one is willing to think outside the box and take a small risk and put in tons of effort. Most labels don't think or take risks and do what everyone else does, in a lot of cases even the effort put in isn't what it should be.

I think my label's first release will already surpass the 1000 legal downloads within the first month. The businessplan should be finished this summer and after that I plan on launching the entire thing asap.

AB sound a bit artificial ok, it's true, a software based piano don't sound like a physical piano (however sometimes i find i prefer the sound of the nexus piano over my yamaha in some specific arrangements) but check Hans Zimmer Studio.

He has the best tools out there, and probably he records some parts from real instruments.

OK i wasn't joking but i recognize Hans Zimmer is still some steps above Blueman:

-Theme from the Rock
-Gladiator
-Pirates of the Caribbean

This are my favs for him, but lately only the Dark Knight OST is good , Inception in my opinion is really mediocre, from the entire score i only like "Time" and "Mombassa" there is a track which is almost like Time but follows a #m key instead and is horrid imo.

Well making the score for the track should be more difficult, i find difficult to make a track to fit already existing vocals while i think making vocals for an already existing instrumental is easy. With this i guess happens the same, but yesterday they broadcasted Harry Potter on TV , i saw the first minutes and the main theme was playing, what made me think is that in the book there is nothing written like "The Harry Potter theme must be a 121 bpm Bm# with loads of horns and cowbell" so John Williams was completely free to create whatever he wanted for the film.

When composing for a film you aren't completely free of course, they'll surely ask you to make 3 minute 52 seconds for a car chasing and fit to several things happening (for example a slow motion camera and music needs to fit for this) i think is really hard but i think AB is being modest, he could be a very good Hans disciple, if i would be him i'd try to join a studio of composers, he has some talent despite some of you insist he is just another bedroom producer.

Without having heard any AB tracks, I would say that a realistic library doesn't instantly make a realistic sound, it's all about humanisation, technique and understanding of Orchestration.

I still wouldn't fully judge an artist's ability to write scores by listening only to his assumably cheesy uplifting trance breakdowns.

His tracks sound pretty realistic to me, cut the guy a break. It's not ultra-realistic but it's certainly a good attempt. Especially since all he has is a MIDI keyboard and a few software synths.

The biggest problem with many of these trance producers wanting to do "film music" is that for most of them, their style reportoire consists entirely of "epic action adventure." That's all they do, or all they want to do, or maybe all they can do.

It's like none of them even consider preparing for the possibility that they could be called on to compose something on a more modest scale. Nope; it's all Braveheart and Lord of the Rings, all the time.

Blueman did a couple of quiet instrumental pieces for his niece last year that were just calm and sounded good, but yeah he is pretty one-dimensional.

Like I said I don't expect him to succeed at all in film music. He should stick with what he knows

although all of you are right i think he could produce House better than many house producers, people who are gifted on something are gifted in it's surrounding area , Lionel Messi is amazing at scoring goals but i'm sure he can adopt an assistant role, defensive and even as a goalkeeper, who knows...

Is however more intelligent to exploit what you are best at and his breakdowns are one of the best of the modern uplifting trance if the target are home listeners. What i don't understand about his productions and annoyes me a lot is the loud kicks , hats and bassline.

His music won't get many live plays (some people ask for this kind of tracks but i think a good dj shouldn't play this on a live set) so i think a softer kick, a simple line of hi hats instead of that crowded sound that distort the high end of the spectrum and a deeper bassline would work better if he someday wants to stick with trance again.

The Orchestal mix of Serenity is no near as good as RTMM (Riding Through...) , is enjoyable but is so simplistic, i believe this has only a few days of work, was just to fill the EP release.

As far as i am aware there will be a Orchestal mix of "Away from the Sun" his new single that he says is one of his best, ok we'll see. I found Florescence extremely disappointing

Yeah Florescence was pretty bad.

That's because everything in epic trance has to be blindingly, massively obvious to the point of crassness. hey why don't you tell us what kind of enlightened musical tastes you have so I can make overblown generalizations about them and make you feel bad for liking music some other people might not like

Not sure why you feel it necessary to try and establish some sort of musical superiority over people who listen to music you don't like though. Get off your pedestal, nobody's impressed

There was some few months back in 2009 when I really enjoyed Andy Blueman's music, but looking back I can't find any good reason for why I did so in the first place. I was still pretty new to trance, but everything Andrej made was done better by someone else and I could never tell the difference between Everlasting and Neverland. That was my opinion on Andy Blueman's music, so let's move on to obvious spamming for producers I like.

Seeing the fall or at least absence of Andrej, I really hope that empty space will soon be filled by John Danowski, aka TranceCrafter, aka not me. If you liked Andy Blueman's stuff or found it to be, um, interesting, LISTEN TO THIS, NOW!



Moving on off topic, but still related, just like Kysora and DJ Robby Rox, the reason I love uplifting trance, is because its potential, not its current state. There are so many techniques that Daniel Kandi, Andy Blueman, Sean Tyas, Alex M.O.R.P.H. and Aly & Fila are capable of using in their tracks, but sadly never or rarely uses.

Examples are:

• Using several differnt hooks that supplements the previous harmony, only to build up to one superhook that blows everybody's fucking minds.
  
• Before starting the beat, introducing with a few ambient phrases. Airbase uses this for "Escape" for example.
  
• Having the lead sequence short and repeating, while the bass and the pads behind changes key independently. Think Humate - Love Stimulation.
  
• Slowly transiting from one mood to another, maybe even from one style to another, within one track, without the listener noticing, while also not being too repetitive.

Man that is inasanely cheesey and reminds me of a Bank advert. THIS is not where trance is going for me at least. It's too obvious and cliche and too aware of itself and uses a lot of advert musak sounds.

An American 'prophet' in 2004 contributed much to a new website called 'housepricecrash.com' and in it he actualy predicted the credit crunch and used that exact term - credit crunch. He even had threads with titles like 'The great US credit Crunch, post your early signs of it here' - in 2004!!

I don't like money. I like things. But I don't like that process of thinking about money and what things I should get. That just stresses me out. I often wish there was a type of economy where you just did what you were good at and you just had did your thing and got things and everyone got what they got depending on how good you were. And if you didn't like the government, they would whisk you off to prison in the cold somewhere and make you work in like a prison like setting. If only such a place existed and I could be in charge.

Just did some introspection and I really don't care about money but I do like to like think i'm important. And if I acquired alot of money, I could pay people to pretend i'm important like a mob guy. LIke have my own block where people are just like acting. Kinda like a show I guess but like for real. I mean reality tv but it isn't real or filmed. Just my little universe where I can go around and slap people and just be an asshole.The thing is and I know you are thinking, this guy would be the worst if he got famous which I wouldn't because I would be quite fair in my dealing of the asshole attitude. Like everyone gets their fair share. And some days, if I'm in a good mood, people will expect a slap but then get a hug. Now just imagine how good I made that person feel. See thats what i'm about. Making people feel good.

About money, and this is a true story. I remember I was a kid and I knew the concept of investing and I told my dad to invest in microsoft cause I was into computers when they were just popping up. He won't admit it but specifically remember going to a soccer game and I was telling him that this is going to be huge. Anyways, he made about 3 million in those like 5 years where their stock just kept climbing and only told me 2 years ago. I think I was making fun of his suite and I said he needs some better cufflinks and he showed his portfolio and laughed at me.

honestly I'm a little bit of a space cadet and my brain is always on overdrive and it just pumps out the most useless dribble. I've stopped conversations because I was annoying myself. And I just flat out said, k i'm annoying the hell out of me. Im' going. But once you just stick me a in room and say do something, I'm pretty easy to handle.

I wish I was a space cadet. :|
