ha ha ha i was saying this in the thread in nyc
wmc just dont feel the same anymore, everything is just soooo dam commercial and everyone is just trying to top each other with parties

last year's anjuna party had a sick venue and production but the music sucked sooooo bad so commercial and generic
now they are with ultra and gonna invite the same crappy anjuna artist's to play all their hits and have a bunch of 16 year old kids go nuts
trance was never about this, or about selling out etc etc

i wish you well down there, not gonna make it this year
hopefully some good trance parties do pop up for your sake ha ha

Everyone's jumping on that money-making bandwagon. This reminds me of when I was in High School and skateboarding got popular. All of a sudden everyone and anyone was skateboarding because "It was cool." Tony Hawk, Andy McDonald, and etc. all hopped on that popularity and made tons of money.

I guess they have to ride the gravy train while its hot. EDM won't be this popular again for awhile after it fades. I constantly say to myself "Remember when..."

amonly has Boris billed to Surfcomber on Saturday, March 24th.

I would suspect it's his Get Wetter with Boris pool party.

Agreed!
Great for the dj's, not so great for the fans.
I miss the "semi-underground" feel

I'm sure it's legit. Due to exclusivity agreements that Ultra has negotiated, artists like Sven and many others cannot be billed on a flyer that weekend.

I'll be at this for sure. Thanks for posting it.

Updated! Thanks Ramsau.

I had a question as well. If a dj plays a club under one of his other aliases is he free to play despite the exclusivity agreement?

Wow the parties are looking very slim. Terrible line ups.

I'm guessing there is still a ways to go? Perhaps I'm jumping the gun or maybe just crying about the lack of no sunday school.

Brutal line ups. I can't see people going to parties with line ups like these.

not to be a dick or anything but you're about as premature as a 13 year old kid who just jizzed in his pants because a chick touched his elbow.

wmc used to be about not knowing what the fuck was going to go down. thats what made it special! you never used to have your schedule fully planned out like a chore 2 months in advance. it used to be more laid back and just seeing what the fuck was going to happen. some of the best parties ive ever attended were ones i didnt know i was going to end up at! not that i dont plan my shit out in advance, of course i do, hell the hype of that is what helps make the months leading up go by. and not just planning it out but changing your plans atleast 30 times because you cant believe how many badass parties keep popping out of seemingly nowhere. (one of my fav parts of wmc is when parties pop up and people constantly post 'FUCK' because now they gotta choose between multiple amazing parties on the same night). i guess what im getting at is just sit back. theres still TONS of shit thats going to get announced. we've probably only got about 10-15% of it so far. the sickest shit usually gets announced in feb or so.

look at the venues. other than the national hotel i wouldnt expect there to be anything worthwhile there anyway. i think they're going to bank on just having people come in who are walking by for a drink or two. these wont be serious parties by any stretch of the imagination.

^^ this

it waaay to early to be complaining about anything. there are 250-300 more parties to be announced. I've heard there will be a few events to try and replace the SSFD vibe and we already know a lot of the djs that have spun there like Adam Beyer and Lee Burridge, among many others, will have their own parties.

if 2 months from today the lineups still suck then please, go ahead and complain as i'll be complaining with ya!

Hahaha seriously. Kids these days so impatient. Besides those parties look something like Wmc sponsored events which are usually crap. What's with the abundance of negativity this year

The new era of Miami Music Week.

"What? Paidpack puke and Skilles arent playing at the clevelander or the oceans 10? Two Phat ****s, Allure, Alter Native.. Who the fuck are they, fucking nobodys! What a lame wmc bro!"

I think a lot of negativity stems from the lack of Sunday School and the Flying Circus Party at Nikki Beach for starters. That Nikki Beach line up with Sander K and the rest is lacking.

Once some Cocoon parties get announced perhaps a Circo Loco event I'll be a little happier.

Maybe BPM and Ibiza trips are setting the bar to high?

Posted by stvy on Jan-20-2012 21:38:

Nikki is usually weak for the most part besides that weds usually. They mainly cater to the mainstream & cheesy stuff anyway. And Sunday school although sad, there are other things in the works that will not disappoint. just have to be patient. most of the good stuff doesn't come out until late.
